  1. I saw them a few weeks ago. They're for real. It will be fun to see what happens with them and Cabs (and others).
  2. Saw them at Peckville, those two mics are definitely just for the duet in the ballad. Highly doubt that they're there to amplify the corps or anything like that. Sabers are already loud enough as it is.
  3. Another week (2015) and I'm convinced you could have seen the Coats catch up with Crown. They hands down had the fan favorite show in 2014, also beating out the Cadets and their "meaningful" show. Right now, I think the Bluecoats are 100% on the right track. Seems to me that the "only thing missing" is a cleaner show.
  4. https://twitter.com/CorpsTweets/status/728047636356333568?s=09 Another look with a guard member as well.
  5. I don't think any corps has ever used fully kaleidoscopic drill. There are visual aspects in most shows that can be seen as kaleidoscopic. Some corps just do it more often. As far as high velocity drill, I disagree with the statement that speed for speeds sake is done with in DCI. I'm not even sure I understand that. Fast drill exists solely to be impressive. Fast drill is always unnecessary, but corps use it to highten their program. Recently we've seen corps make strategic decisions regarding their visual program. Corps do what they do in order to boost their program and get better scores. Right now the Cadets still hold onto their high velocity drill (although overall I wouldn't call it kaleidoscopic). Recently Crown has abandoned their 2012 drill style (which was high velocity and fairly kaleidoscopic). But if Crown doesn't win in the next 3 years they will 100% change things up. BD continues to dominate, and thus there hasn't been any real need to amp up their drill. It's all about winning, and if a corps believes high velocity drill will give them a better score, they'll do it. It's all cyclical.
  6. Yes, but with DCI's new system, one has to assume this can't happen anymore. If DCI actually wants to limit the accessibility of past scores to judges, then I can't see them allowing judges to take their own copy of the scores out of the booth. It kind of defeats the purpose, right?
  7. Yes judges talk. But how do they talk? Probably things like "Crown had the best brass" or "Bluecoats percussion isn't that great this year." I highly doubt judges are going around saying "I gave Coats a 91.5, Devils a 91.3, and Cadets a 91.1" Unless judges are allowed to keep their scores, I don't think they're going to be memorizing the exact numbers to share with their fellow judges. But maybe they will now. I don't know. Like someone else mentioned, without exact numbers, the basis for scores could vary greatly between judges. If its the middle of July and a judge hasn't seen the Coats yet, can he go in blind and give them an accurate brass score? What if it ends up being lower than last weeks? Is it because the corps underperformed or is it because the judge had nothing to base "improvement" on? So many questions. I guess we'll see.
  8. That's actually a very interesting idea. Are you thinking Christmas or non-Chrismas? I'm not very familiar with TSO outside of their Christmas songs (which are quite amazing).
  9. A: Canton Phantom CadetsB: A highly stylized shirtless bust of Joe Biden C: All 70's disco, played at triple forte, on custom 6 valve bugles pitched in G# D: Male and female. E: Director. I will not show my face or reveal my name to the corps. Everything about me will be a mystery. Everyone once and a while I will write disgustingly vulgar notes and give them to the techs to read out loud to the kids that day at rehearsal. Anyone who figures out my identity will be killed and buried under Lucas Oil. Trust me I know people. Then finals night I show up with a George Hopkins mask on to give the corps a final pep talk. The Canton Phantom Cadet Drum and Bugle Corps go on to win their first championship the same year as their founding. After Finals, I personally see to the deaths of all members and techs. I then take the trophy and move to Puerto Rico, and live out the rest of my days as a DCI legend. F: Canton OH, across the street from the Bluecoats.
  10. The beginning is great. The end is great. I can see why Hopkins mentioned that fact that it's a little long. It will obviously be changed over the next 6 months, but I'm loving what I'm hearing. I enjoy this sort of music a lot more than the Shostakovich from last year. I'm definitely intrigued.
  11. Wow I didn't realize this. Still hoping (perhaps in vain) that they squeeze some performance time into each episode.
  12. Fuse is a music channel. There has to be some sort of actual performance included in each show. Even just a couple minutes of field reps or just the hornline playing in arc would be fine for each episode. Otherwise, the appeal level of this show isn't very high.
  13. From what my current DCA and DCI pit friends tell me, "pulsing" is a word that is definitely used a lot. Whether it's "official" I don't know, but that seems to be what it's called in today's world.
  14. Maybe...Speaking of George here's a hilarious little thing I found on Twitter the other day. It took me a second to see it but when I did.... https://twitter.com/CouchmenDBC/status/663752827114655745?s=09
