  1. What a line-up. Wish I could be there. Good luck to all.
  2. Alright, somebody's going to have to help me out here because I'm all screwed up as usual. Wasn't the corps once known as "Mighty St. Joe's of Batavia"? ________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ What part of "Mighty St. Joe's Alumni" don't you understand?
  3. I'm hoping they do: Defying Gravity from Wicked and Ease On Down The Road from The Wiz. Scattered "Rainbows" is a given. I love the concept, telling the story like it has never been told before and so much wonderful music to work with.
  4. On behalf of my wife Sharon and myself, I just want to say what an honor it was to be a part of the Empire Statesmen this year as members of the Honor Guard. The Statesmen organization is truly a family and we are proud to have been a part of it. Last night was special and we will remember it for the rest of our lives. Benny
  5. I would like to personally thank all my friends at Prime Time Brass for performing at the reunion. I know how much you guys do for our community and especially our vets and the elderly and disabled. Thank you for sharing the gift of music. I would also like to thank Tommy Allen for everything he has done in making sure every vet has live taps played at their funeral. if you look at the picture taken on Thursday, you will notice Tommy sitting in on the performance My father who is 85 and a WWII vet was on the Father's Day weekend flight, I went as his Guardian. We had plans to attend the event on Thursday but dad had a gallbladder attack two weeks ago which cancelled plans. Dad is recovering slowly and still has to have surgery when he regains his strength. Honor Flight is a nation wide organization founded on the belief that every WWII veteran should be able to visit their memorial which was finally built in 2004, 50 years long overdue IMHO. The average age of WWII vets is 85 and we are loosing 1200 a day, this is a time sensitive issue. The memorial is centrally located on the mall between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. The WWII Memorial is breathtaking and I suggest everyone who hasn't seen it to pay a visit. Our trip was only the third from Rochester, but Vince Hope and all the volunteers that help make this happen, have gotten this down to a science. taking 57 vets plus wheelchairs and baggage on and off planes and on and off busses is a logistics nightmare, but everything ran like a Swiss watch. The vets pay nothing, the money is donated by people like you. If you are interested in helping, please visit www.honorflight.org Those that live in the Rochester area can go to www.honorflightrochester.org With much appreciation, Benny Wilt
  6. It's all good and everyone is a winner. Mini Corps rocks. I hope Renegades come back next year, they were a big part of Friday night's show. To all the corps, please no music stands. It totally takes away from the visual effect not to mention the impression it leave with the audience of being unprepaired.
  7. I have two prime seats for finals available. If interested, see my post under DCP Marketplace.
  8. I have two (2) Prime seats available for finals. If interested, see my post under DCP Marketplace
  9. Tickets have been sold I have two prime seats available for DCA finals that I will let go for face value, $57 a piece. Section 308 Row D Seats 10 & 11. these are the best seats you will find. Don't wait until the last minute, you will be on the 5 yard line. these seats are close to the 40, left of the 50. Call me @ 585-889-1269 or email; wilt14487@aol.com
  10. Larry Fakowski, Mark Merritt and Jimmy Taylor are not too shabby either. How about Bill McGrath Jr. pulling double duty with Prime Time and Ghost? He did an incredible job.
  11. Got mine yesterday. Very professionally packaged but the CD is amazing. You know Joey I was always your biggest fan but I never realized your talent was far beyond anything I ever immagined. Ol' Joe, I know you are very proud and you deserve it. Love you both, Uncle Benny
  12. I have been trying for several days to get on Joey's wib site joeypero.com. I get a spinning circle and a loading 15% but it doesn't ever go any further. Is there some sort of software that I need to install in order to reach this site? I hope someone can enlighten me, I need this CD
  13. First Fleetwood album I ever bought was 1961 "The Best Of The Corps Vol.1". It was concerts only of about 10 corps. I wore the Queensmen out, I played it so much. Being a baritone player myself, Billy Hightower was my hero. Thanks for the memories Frank, I will be looking forward to your next installment and thanks to Fleetwood for re-mastering all those great albums.
  14. To all you WDCHOF members who knew Rick, you know what you have to do. Make it happen. The Wilt family sends our sincere condolences to the Rogers and Cru Families. Ben, Sharon, Joe & Scott
  15. When you add up all the variables, I doubt that any city can come close to persuading the voting members to leave Rochester anytime in the near future. There are so many things that Rochester has over any other venue. Major airport Plenty of good hotels Drum Corps friendly stadium Ample practice facilities Highly experienced local committee Mayor and County Executive willing to do what it takes Best I&E venue ever Friendly Police Great selection of restaurants and bars Central to most corps Huge crowds to all events (even with escalating ticket prices) I have just scratched the surface, but the two most important things that put Rochester at the top of the list are: The fans and the performers leave Rochester with fond memories of the weekend (Not horror stories about brown shirts or having to stay 30 miles away from the venue and so on). And most importantly, the corps are able to divide more profits than any other venue in DCA Championships history. Granted other cities might have a bigger stadium or better hotels or better this or that, but when you look at the big picture, Rochester stands head and shoulders above all others. Someone always raises the issue of the stadium being in a bad area of the city. Yes, but with the police presence all around, I have not heard of a single person bothered or any cars stripped. Where else can the corps stand in the streets and play really loud at 11pm and not be shut down? I say viva Ra-Cha-Cha Happy New Year to all
  16. I surely hope St. Joe's is going to play Corky's arrangement of Battle Hymn (1970 Color Pre). I could never figure out why they played Cavies 63 and Royalairs 65 versions when they had their own (1970) which was a classic in it's own right.
  17. Ok, How do I get this video? Is it for sale somewhere? Excuse me if that is a stupid question but I was not aware of a 1972 video /DVD. 1972 was most certainly the best year for senior corps... EVER, any one of the top 6 could have won on any given day and all of them did during the summer of 72. Benny
  18. Sorry to hear of Roy's passing. I marched next to Roy in 62 Grey Knights. He had just got back from the Army as I recall. Roy became like a big brother to me that summer. He kept my 16 year old butt in line and made sure I stayed out of trouble. The ranks are getting pretty thin Peash, we must be getting old...ya think?
  19. I am getting excited in anticipation of attending Classic XV tonight. As an alumni of both St. Joseph's of Batavia and Mighty St. Joe's Alumni, I would like to make a plea to all my friends in the Roc-Cha-Cha area to please come out and support St. Joe's. This show is the main source of income and is what keeps the corps on the field and streets (parades). Without your support, St. Joe's would not have made it to their 17th year. Please come and visit with all your old friends in the lobby before the show and be sure to purchase a program and maybe a souvie at the corps booster table, and don't forget to get your 50/50 raffle tickets. It looks to be a great night of fun and entertainment. Good luck to all the participants. MIGHTY ST. JOE’S ALUMNI Classic XV SATURDAY, APRIL 26, 2008 – 7:00PM Greece Apollo Middle School 760 Maiden Lane, Greece, New York Benny
  20. Yes it was Saturday afternoon at the Singer Bowl and St. Lucy's was there. I think they were on just before St. Joe's of Batavia. I remember Sully telling us in the parking lot as we were getting dressed, that the field was 2/3 of a football field and the stands were right on the sidelines. We came OTL in a company front and pinwheeled on the 50... what a disaster. I think we took 12th out of 10 corps. To make things worse, we head straight to B-port, go on early Sunday morning, get a 2 point penalty, " A" Flag violation, and just missed finals. I remember that being the most agonizing weekend of my drum corps life.
  21. If you can wait a few years this young lady might fill a tenor spot. She comes from good drum corps stock, just ask Joe.
