  1. She was one who LOVED the activity and touched so many. She will be missed.
  2. Gone for a few days and look what happens.... I totally agree with the post above. It's NOT an audition. It's a teaching job. You should worry more about the ability of the individual to teach and administrate more than looks. Pretty doesn't equal smart....just saying. This is almost a personal ad for eye candy during rehearsals.
  3. Yes! Gimme some more crazy Shapiro twirls!
  4. oh young "piog1101".....read the thread and just enjoy. Sebastienne is too complex to discribe in simple terms.
  5. Being inspired by Academy and Glassmen this drum corps season, Convalescence is rumored to perform "Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything." or shorter title "Steps to Becoming a Drag Queen" for winterguard 2011. All this is contentious based on the availability of bulk fuschia sequin spandex and glitter gold lam'e.
  6. I have the same sentiment, having watched the show develop all season long, the design and creativity was definately finals worthy. I was soooo moved by it at the Houston Regional. HOWEVER, I wasn't able to see the prelims/semis runs at Championships and heard that it was not as solid as it could have been.....again I didn't see them because I was with another organization. I don't want to trash the groups that "made" finals, but I can also see how fans might think that Ars Nova world got a raw deal. Do I think they have a shot this season? AbsoFREAKINGloutely! I wish Matt and his staff all the luck and love.
  7. That's exciting! Growth in Tejas is a great thing :)
  8. Great posts, Will! That really does about cover it. Personal note, Alliance of Miami '95 was the whole reason that 3 years later I moved to Miami to go to college. I know it's quirky and "insane", but honestly to a sophomore in high school at the time, I thought it was genius.
  9. FYI- DCI will be streaming the Houston shows and not San Antonio this year.
  10. Mariah was from Big Spring, TX. If you go to the Big Spring HS, the band director's office is PLASTERED with Mariah photos. It seemed totally random the first time I saw it in 2000 and not knowing the history but growing up in that area.
  11. I am looking forward to seeing what fantastic couture Sebastienne will sport at headquaters! 2 Weeks Til Debbie!
  12. All I have to say..... before you critique the scores, watch the shows on Fan Network. There are some GREAT shows!
  13. I guess I don't understand what is the big deal....TBA doesn't start till Sunday, the day after the Regional. It's great as an educator because I just add one extra day to my hotel stay and see some great shows then go to the convention. Anyone know what the big deal is? What is this conflict?
  14. Great topic! I've often wondered about it, too. However, I'm not too sure I want to bite the hand that feeds...to an extent.
  15. SAA is the bloodiest. Just saying.
  16. Some guards have bumped down/up in classification since this started. This page is definatley for entertainment only.
  17. Meh.... It's the start of the season. I will give a full Austin WGI regional review in two weeks :) But I will say..... Dark Horse that could take the gold at circuit championships - Cy Fair in the Sch A class.
  18. Just now got back on CGP, (Thanks Sabastienne). Here's my thoughts..... There is a trend in TCGC that is growing more and more....taking the fun out of winterguard and the activity in general. I currently am involved with 4 guards that are highly active in the circuit. The philosophy of all 4 has been "to provide an enjoyable and rewarding experiance to the members". Remember, what we do is silly....it's just flags in a gym. However, I do like to play the numbers game some...atleast enough to check them once and a while. While I appreciate the site maker's attempt in making it a bit more user friendly for the curious, I hope it is intended as a possitive and not a neg. As for the bickering.....where's my cocktail! Mama is watching a catfight!
  19. We all know that....we are just saying with the staff and the location, one could assume it would have a very close look and feel as NL.
  20. I did like seeing everyone in my home town, and next year will probly go to San Antonio and Denton after. My only beef is how amature the lighting problem was on night 2 of the Houston leg. After last year's over zealous stadium staff, and this year's lighting and parking issues, I call for a change of venue.
  21. BAC- T.H.O. city! Nipples everywhere....Those suckers are see through but I get it. Phantom- Boring and not polished at all. Big disappointment. Scouts- The show is about mexican wrestling right? Cavies- a little to downplayed and a little to literal. Beautiful silks though. SCV- I get the dresses, just not the color choice. When I think of Martha Graham, I think of blues, reds and purples. Troop- I kind of like em and LUST the silks. BK- unis are fine I guess, just don't understand what the red and brown silk is to represent. Hunting or sledding accident? Colts- Top to bottom of the show, a well done concept. My fave was the sun rising on the water after the storm. I totally got it.
