  1. It has to be pacific. I can't imagine semifinals starting earlier than the 17th seeded corps did last night.
  2. I don't know of too many people that hate the cadets. They hate George Hopkins' attitude toward the fans and the far out crap he puts in his show every year. I know I'm tired of the awful narration and his condescending attitude towards the many fans that don't like it. I've given up on him every giving a crap what we think so I will try and enjoy the few parts where the hornline gets to play uninterrupted and cheer much louder for the other corps. I just hope his "style" of drum corps doesn't become more prevalent.
  3. Bluecoats have beaten regiment ONCE the entire season and they haven't had a show together since then. So yes, it's almost been three weeks, but they haven't met since then and regiment beat blue coats every time before that. Only thing I can extrapolate from that is both corps are pretty close and nobody can know what will happen tomorrow. I'm not picking up on bluecoats dominance based on that one win almost three weeks ago like the bluecoats fans seem to be. San Antonio is also the first and only time that crown has beaten regiment, but regiment has beaten them twice since with both shows just last weekend. Once again, I'm not sure how a win almost three weeks ago is putting regiment at a disadvantage to crown when they have proven since then that they are scoring just a little higher than crown. Based on your logic of "striking distance", then regiment is in a better position than crown and at least equal to bluecoats.
  4. I'm going with a friend of mine that marched with me in regiment in '96 after we spend the day at the PGA Championship here in Tulsa. My wife will also be joining us.
  5. That was over two weeks ago. It's hardly a valid or fair comparison for either corps at this time of the season.
  6. After saturday's debacle, they better get this right or they're not going to get $90 from me next summer.
  7. Not a fan of narration. Most of my drum corps enjoyment is listening to the CD's and narration just ruins it for me. I'm most disappointed in not having an end of season recording of cadets from this season minus Napoleon Dynamite and crew talking for half the show.
  8. At the Enid show, Regiment seemed just as loud, but we didn't get the cadets encore. Regiment's encore was crazy loud. It was nice hearing two crazy loud hornlines back to back. That's my favorite part of drum corps and what drew me into the activity. There's no other sound like it in the world.
  9. You do realize that they had to travel from Columbia, MO to california in five days don't you? They were the only corps that was at the Indianapolis regional that didn't do Tempe instead of Stanford. So there weren't any shows on their route, but you have to understand why they would want to do the stanford regional instead of one in Arizona. I'm more concerned with the poor corps that had to travel through Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona while the other corps were up north where it's not 105 degrees. Corps are pretty resilient though so I doubt it really made much of a difference.
  10. Sounds like an excuse to me. This is the funniest part of the year to me. The homer hypocrisy. That and the people who say "well Corps X is going to be cleaning for the next week so they'll catch Corps Y". As if the other corps won't also be cleaning. If the scores were BS, then it sounds like your excuse is about the same as the one you just called out. Why not just be happy that your corps is doing so well and is in the hunt for the highest finish in their history instead of shooting down other corps when you didn't even see either show so you can't even begin to comment on the legitimacy of the scores?
  11. It's funny you would call someone else out for "making excuses" after all of the excuses you had for crown last night.
  12. I second that!!! :) If you think the corps are loud during their show, catch them in an encore. Regiment's encore is just a total wall of sound. It's amazing. I haven't had the chance to hear Cadets this year because of that new rule randomly giving corps the encore, not the ones who earned it.
  13. I agree. The staff has to give you the right show. The competition on the field is just as much between the staffs of the different corps as it is the marching members. The marching members have to be focused and take care of business too because the best designed show can't win if it's not performed well. It sounds so simple.....
  14. I doubt this will happen, but who knows what will happen with so many corps so close together? The thing is, I don't see any shame in being seventh this year with the quality of the top 7. Only thing I can probably guarantee is that whoever is in 7th won't be too far behind 4th, 5th, and 6th place scoring wise.
  15. It's crazy how close some of those scores are to each other. Cadets and Cavies are right on top of each other. If Regiment hadn't gotten a penalty in San Antonio, they would have squeaked ahead of Bluecoats. I don't think performance order really means all that much as long as you're fairly close to your closest competitors. Thursday thru Saturday nights are going to be VERY interesting. Last night's scores assured me of that. I can't wait.
  16. We had a really cool show at Preview of Champions in Madison back in '96. We marched in an absolute downpour. Our score suffered because of it, but that is by far one of my most memorable shows from that summer. The crowd just went crazy for us. Here's a link to a story better describing it. It's about half way down the page. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=1...29-5bff25ef5b96
  17. I know crowd appeal isn't too important these days, but I just see other corps that seem to really meld their music and visual together and then there's BD doing the same drill they always do playing the same boring arrangements and their GE score is through the roof. I just don't get it . At least they're clean.
  18. Very clean, but boring as well. Not understanding how that show is getting so many GE points.
  19. $6 for the whole show and it's from May? Not sure I like it that much to get an early season version for that price.
  20. I wish I could buy an "unplugged" APD of this show minus the awful narration. It would be one of my favorite shows this year is they would be the ones to have a technical problem with their mics.
  21. Of any university to be at, you would think they wouldn't be having technical problems, especially internet problems, at Stanford!!!
  22. Probably the shaft. DCI had tons of problems last summer and I figured with the huge price increase this year, that would include less technical problems. I guess I was wrong. I will have to think a little harder next summer before parting with $90.
  23. Nice post, jwillis35. I think more Regiment alumni would agree with you that we would prefer Regiment to keep their style over selling out and placing higher. I know that's the way I think. I seem to always love their shows and I don't want to have them do a cavaliers copy show that I wouldn't enjoy as much just so they can win a championship. I think they can do it with their current style and it's just a matter of time until it happens. They were only several tenths away last year in finals.
