  1. This is a good idea. Personally, I am always available for percussion arranging and free advise/opinions. I'm willing to work with any groups, comfortable with a number of skill levels and willing to work with composers as well to create percussion parts for their original works (or arranged works). My work has been recieved well by schools and judges alike but more importantly, the students have enjoyed what I've put out there. I'll work with a band to write for them and within their budget. I'd rather write for you than not write at all! I haven't met a group yet that I couldn't work out something with. All work comes in pdf with mp3s. I use VDL2.5/Sibelius. I can also consider a consulting/cleaning type situation. Maybe you need someone in once a month to clean stuff up? Or want to get someone in front of your kids to motivate them once? If you're interested, email me - czpercussion@mac.com
  2. Oh I agree about DCP. My comment wasn't directed entirely towards you but rather those reading and participating in this thread and might have an opinion one way or the other about the Bridgemen's performance.
  3. TastyWaves, if you got up during our move to the track then the only song you missed was William Tell, which is about 1:30 to 2 minutes tops, depending on how long we hold out the last note. I think you might have gotten up early than this? Regardless of how you or anyone else here might feel, I know that if I were on the other side of the field, I'd rather see something that takes up the time that it takes to tabulate scores and check them than sit and twiddle my thumbs or have a giant sno-cone. Judging by the reaction of the people we entertained, I would say that at least 95% of that stadium felt the same way. Performing at Allentown is such a treat for me (and the rest of the corps, I'm sure) because we get to take what we do all year long and present it to fans of this activity both young and old. Yeah, there will be people who won't want to see us, think we played too long, think we should've played this or that, or have some other opinion and you know what? They're welcome to it. As long as I walk off that field and know that I ENTERTAINED someone, then I did my job. Look at the modern corps... how many shows at Allentown were good? Great? Clean? Fast? Well programmed? Arranged well? How many of them truly entertained you and were fun? That's one of the things this organization is about - entertaining the drum corps audience and doing it the Bayonne way (which seems to work both in Allentown PA and East Rutherford, NJ). Sometimes it's not about the speed, the agility and the 32nd note Mellophone run in Cb - sometimes it's about having fun and being entertained.
  4. ctbonesfan, I'd like to correct an error in your statement. The Crown member did not "run through the middle" of us - the Crown member ran along our left side as we stood in the gate. Our Corps moved to locations as directed by those in charge - if DCI told us to do the hokey pokey standing in the starting chute, we would have. I remember seeing this individual coming at us as they were approaching the endzone and we did our best to shuffle our ranks to our right so the Crown member could continue running through on our stadium-side. The phrasing and structure of your statement makes it sound as if we stood there as an obstacle to the member of Crown on purpose. That is not the case at all. I'll be the first to tell you that I am unfamiliar with all of the logistics of Crown's program (and many of the Jrs. this year, actually) and as I saw this individual running I didn't know if they were going to stop or not. Regardless of our possible thoughts, we tried to make room so they could continue. Also, please realize as one of my fellow Bananas pointed out, we were given a time limit, just as every other corps this evening was! DCI said "You have X amount of time on the field" and we used that time as best we could. This was not a situation where we were invited to perform and said "Let's play and play and play!", but rather we were under limits as much as the next corps. We love being invited to perform at Allentown and do everything we can to live up to DCI's rules and guidelines and fan expectations. Regardless, I can assure you we all had a blast on Saturday night! I hope everyone on the other side of the horns, drums, flags and uniforms enjoyed it as much as we did.
  5. Woohoo! My back is celebrating!
  6. Glad you guys enjoyed yourself. Hopefully we'll see you in the future and glad to see you enjoyed the fields. Sadly, I was too beat up from rehearsal to make it over, but I'm glad you guys enjoyed!
  7. I might check in Saturday and scope out the end of rehearsal. Depends on when things get done in Bayonne. Hope you Cabs enjoy your stay at NWR.
  8. I have a Yamaha MO6 for sale. The keyboard was purchased, used for a very short time in my home and is now waiting for a new owner. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is because I don't like the sounds as much (I'm more of a Korg guy). Anyway, the board comes with power supply, all manuals and a soft case with wheels. I'm seeking 700 obo. This thing retails for about 1000 new. Email - czpercussion at mac dot com or PM if interested.
  9. There's great discussion on this topic on the tapspace forum as well. The SM57s aren't bad.
  10. If in your searching, anyone stumbles upon a vibraphone, let me know. :-)
  11. That's a nifty lookin' line up if I do says so myself... and I do.
  12. There once was a great site in fifedrum.org but that's gone. The company would be your best starting resource. I am active in the world of Fife and Drumming so if you have questions, feel free to contact me through the email thing on this site.
  13. http://www.tapspace.com/forums/index.php?t...g10613#msg10613 Basically, educational versions of software are meant for not-for-profit or educational usage. If you're planning to acquire it and use it for writing scores you're selling, then technically you're not allowed.
  14. Are you an educator at a school of some sort or a student? If not, no education for you. Additionally, I believe we did some research over at the Tapspace forum and there's some little tidbit about the Educational License being not for commercial use/gain. Or something along those lines.
  15. Man, I used Finale for like 8 years and decided to try Sibelius. Holy Crap do I love Sibelius. Give it a try. Might make you happy.
  16. As one of those players, I just want to say thanks. It's an honor to play a Delucia book and it's even more of an honor to see how much the crowd really enjoys the programs we put out. Looking forward to seeing you all again in 2009... with a hell of a program as usual ;).
  17. I heard Phantom was demo-ing some modifications to the design per Rennick. Don't know if it's true or not.
  18. Spoken and quoted for truth. This might be my new signature quote. *standing ovation*
  19. I think they both play with a technique that requires drumsticks. :p Sorry, had to.
  20. Scratch that I have rehearsal friday evening now.
  21. If you're willing to split, I am interested... czpercussion@mac.com PM sent as well.
