  1. It was amazingly written, but to call completely original doesn't seen right, it was largely inspired by Equus
  2. Jared, agreed StickTrick, what makes you say that about SCV's hornline?
  3. Oops, voted the wrong one, add one more to 3rd and up, take one away from 4th and down.
  4. I guess thats personal preference, they carried themselves along the field and still in my eyes carried that SCV presence. They did get 5th in feet though, moving up from where they had been most of the season, which was 6th. I think it was a 19.0 in indi performance, a pretty good score for a 6th place corps. I think we'll both agree, that the way you carry yourself can oftentimes hide whats happening down below in the foot timing aspect, especially if you're wearing dark pants. While they may have been struggling slightly (struggling in the sense of a top 6 competitor) with their feet, their carriage and aggressiveness up top can easily take away some of that. I'm pretty sure the spread in feet was 'Coats at a 18.9, SCV 19.0, and Cadets at a 19.1 (maybe .2?), regardless, thats pretty much a judges coin toss (if you had a three headed coin), and still an upper level marching organization and not too far off of their scores when they were in that 4th place era. My basic point is, I didn't see that as justification for staff change, when there are other issues that seem to be more prevalent.
  5. That last post looks very familiar....page 6 maybe?
  6. Looking at the recaps, and looking at the corps itself really, SCV's visual wasn't really too much of an issue. Brass seemed to be the biggest thing for them, I don't see how changing up what they already did well will tie in more success in years to come? Regardless, good luck to SCV, I really enjoyed their visual intensity, hopefully they can keep that up with this new staff. Personally though, the organization they got most of their staff from doesn't really focus much on intensity, so, hmm...we'll see. Regardless, here are my predictions based on my educated guesses, bias, and looking at recent patterns 1.Cadets 2.Blue Devils 3.Bluecoats 4.Phantom Regiment 5.Cavaliers 6.SCV 7.Crown 8.Glassmen 9.Boston Crusaders 10.Blue Knights 11.Spirit 12.Colts like I said, to the best of my knowledge, bias, and patterns as of recent years, and mostly just the way I'd like to see things...mostly
  7. I guess my point was, I like how they make it known how much they place emphasis on their indi technique. While others may say they place great emphasis on visual, I can actually notice it when I watch a BAC show, I'm usually impressed with their individual efforts.
  8. I really like the emphasis that they place on the individual visual aspect of the corps.
  9. Fan Friendly....basically anything that is stimulating, shows off performance skills, and something that I can watch over and over and find new cool things about it. Not so much into the gimmicks and all that stuff, while I do appreciate a well thought out program, I don't like to feel belittled with in your face THIS IS OUR SHOW!!!! type of deal. Some examples of good fan friendly shows in my opinion are: Cadets 05 Cavi's '00 Bluecoats '05 (biased) Crossmen '92 SCV 97-00 BD 00 G-Men 99, 01, I even really like 02 Just to name a few
  10. Had to go with Crown, that error in the peel-off section is just nuts
  11. Just watching some ESPN as they discuss the rose bowl, everytime I see it, I tend to get more dissappointed in how shallow it is. How can a World Championship contest be held here? Looks like the audience will be quite a distance from the corps itself. Hopefully the west coast air will produce louder corps, they'll need it.
  12. "Bluecoats had 150 horns, over 70 trumpets, 25-ish mellos, 23 tubas, 60 baritones. A ton of guard, and a ton of battery and about 15 pit. Great talent! Great kids! Great weekend!" I don't think the numbers were that high, especially since those numbers don't even really add up to 150. Pretty sure it was something like 50some Trumpets, 45 baris, 25 mello, 23 tubas, Rough estimate for Ohio, and whatever other numbers in Texas to add up to 220 horns auditioning in November alone.
  13. Rough Estimate for Coats numbers was something like: Very Approximate Texas/OH combined 80 ish Trumpets 40ish Mellos 65ish Bari/Euphs 30ish Tubas I think the final number was something like 220 brass, something to that extent. Lots of Drums...? Lots of Guard....?
  14. He wrote for Plymoth Canton back in the late 90's, and he currently writes for Stephen F. Austin in Sugarland Tx, and Center Grove HS in Indiana. He writes for several others, but those two are two of the biggest names.
  15. Throughout the 90's Cadets finals performances, somebody would scream "What A Maneuver!" In a pretty strong Jersey accent. Pretty well timed, and more effective than any vanguard yell IMO.
  16. Bluecoats did a Tetris field entry for '04 finals retreat
  17. Wow Jared, I don't think I could agree more, well maybe I could. We'll talk about things before november camp. "....Welcome to drum corps"
  18. 2001 Glassmen is definatly well done, i'm a huge Ginastera fan, and that was just so well done. I think SCV 99 was great too, but I love the original and they version they did of "The Canyon". To add another i'd have to say...hmm....Cadets '85 "Profanation" just phenominal in my opinion. To edit this post, I have to mention Crossmen '92, definatly up there on personal favorites of all around shows, the arrangements are nearly perfect in terms of timing of effect. The soprano entrance after the drum feature in "Rainforest" is quite a moment.
  19. Oh man, being the first to march on new feild turn is never fun. Its ultra squishy and makes marching difficult. I remember doing San Antonio in 03 with the brand new stuff, Cadets and Cavi's had guys falling all over the place and I myself had a few close ones. Same with this year at Indy, new stuff, I wasnt even expecting it, was a rude suprise. Feild Turf is best after being cooked outside in the hot sun, a lot of the rubber pellets get cooked and melt and it makes for a smoother surface. I guess it's all better than marching through 6" crab grass though.
  20. Thats funny, this whole time I just thought JD Shaw was like friggin amazing, while in reality, the arrangment isn't too far from the actual piece itself. Not to say JD Shaw is sub par, but to I feel I've been brought back to reality in a sense.
