  1. Does anyone have any Kingsmen videos from 1976, 1977? Willing to trade or pay. PM or email me. Thanks -Gaba
  2. I think this is great news for the West Coast DC fans. I helped out a few of shows when PR was out here last and I can tell you that PR has some of the nicest kids in Drum Corps. Even the Color Guard staff was nice. Two Thumbs UP. -G
  3. I don't think they have horns. I saw in their website that they want the kids to bring their own horns. They want the kids to feel "comfortable" when rehearsing. Best of luck to them. -G http://kingsmendrumcorps.org/sites/all/doc...sAlProtocol.pdf Kingsmen Rehearsal Information: Rehearsal Site: 40th Infantry Division Band Room 4506 Doolittle Ave. Los Alamitos, CA 90720 First Rehearsal Date: Tuesday, Sept. 14th at 6:00pm Important Information: We ask all brass players to please bring your respective instruments with you to rehearsal! We want to make sure that you're comfortable with your horn when you're assessed. Corps instruments will be assigned later. This is very important. All people entering the base for rehearsal are required to have one of the following valid ID's with them: Valid Drivers License Valid State ID Current School Photo ID Any persons under the age of 14 without an ID should be accompanied by an adult or fellow corps member. Please contact us ahead of time if you expect difficulty. Los Alamitos Base Protocol: Some simple rules when entering the base-- 1. Make SURE to obey speed limits--the base people are unmovable on this point. 2. Try not to wander, stay close to rehearsal sites. 3. Leave no trash on the ground anywhere, anytime, ever. 4. When in the band room practice the Golden Rule--respect all and leave everything as you found it. 5. Be courteous and respectful of base personnel. 6. Just practice common sense! If you have further questions, please contact us at: http://kingsmendrumcorps.org/contact

  6. tick tock tick tock............ -G
  7. Go PC, you could over take Crossmen tonight! -G
  8. It could be that the designers want to out do one another or they are doing it to take focus off of a dirty and boring drill and to add some shock value to their show. For me, keep the dresses in the closet and clean the drill. I would love to see a 27th or Kingsmen Guard on the field over a guy in a dress any day! -G
  9. The scores just show that the judges don't like Drum Corps anymore. -G
  10. Pacific Crest, I don't get how they are getting these low scores. They look a lot cleaner then Troopers. Where's the love? at least 3 pts low SCV, Real cool Drum Corps show, no props maybe? 2.5 pts low Glassmen, No clue. Great show this year. 2 pts low. -G
  11. Anybody at the Odessa, TX show? Scores? thanks -G
  12. What ever it is that they are doing, it is working. They have a very mature sound and a good book this year. I heard that they are going to start to work on producing more volume. Their drum line is also pretty tight, and the Bass's have a pretty cool solo again this year. PC needs to clean up the visuals to make a leap to the next level. -G
  13. BERP's are GREAT.......you can use a lot more pressure using them when buzzing. -G
  14. Both the Academy and PC were on fire last night, literally........it was over 105 at the start of the show and cooled down to 99 when Dream finished up the evening. Very solid performances by these 2 Corps. Both had some time off and made some very good changes to their shows. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised by these 2 Drum Corps next week. It is going to be a fun season for both the Corps members and the fans. -G
  15. I have seen Academy's show 3 times, Walnut, Vista and Riverside. I was 6 rows from the box on the 50 for Walnut, about 10 rows from the box on the 50 at Vista, and 2 rows from the bottom on the 45 at Riverside. They are by far the loudest Corps at all 3 shows. Their horn line has a real mature sound and they are cranking out the dB's. Plus, their music is pretty cool this year. The Drill and marching is whats keeping them back. From top level viewing they seem to never make their sets and they look rushed. Very dirty. Some members missed horn cues/visuals at all 3 shows. At Riverside and Vista I saw at least 12 members out of step. No biggy, but some of them were percussion. I think if they can clean up this show/drill/marching, they might have a chance to enter the top 12, their Hornline is already there. -G
  16. From all the problems they are having, don't hold your breath for a junior Corps. -G
  17. I agree with you, I felt that PC had a better executed and cleaner show then the Troopers, PC's score should be higher. They are missing their closer, Turbine. Should be in for Walnut. -G
  18. I saw them on Sneak Preview night and was a little put off on the performance level of the Corps. The guard looks like the section that will be holding this Corps back this year. The Drill was not finished and they are using a new marching style that not all the members could grasp. Maybe that is why 2 Tuba's were laid out flat during the show's opener. But to their credit, these guys got up so fast that if you blinked, you missed it. Great job! Horn line was over playing at some times and out of tune on many other parts. That being said, I just saw them again yesterday after a week of their first all days. WOW!!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WEEK MAKES!!! The horn line sounds better then last years line and you can tell that these kids want to be there and perform. The line is articulating their parts more uniformly and the intonation improved immensely. Ashalt Cocktail The ballad is nice and rich sounding, but I am having a problem with it fitting into this show theme. The Closer, once cleaned will get you up and standing! I take back on what I said about the Guard. They are starting to really gel into a World Class Guard. I saw a sample of one of the flags during their final run through of the night and it looks great with the finished flag work. A lot more drill and work was completed for the Guard as well. Can't wait to see the guard in uniform with the new flags. Oh, did I mention that it was a complete run through with horns and percussion? Now it is clean clean clean for the Corps. New Drums too! I think everyone is going to be surprised this weekend. Go PC!!! -G
  19. 1973 Kingsmen appeared in the movie Funny Car Summer. It was filmed at Orange County Raceway. The movie was about a summer in the life of "Funny Car" racer Jim Dunn and his family. The bad thing was that they edited out the Kingsmen audio and replaced it with some band with piccolos. -G
