Mandarins dominated Open class for years! It was only a matter of time before they rose, and with Freelancers and SCV gone from CCal, they're a natural replacement.

Incidentally, neither Blue Stars nor Cavaliers are that far off from 5th. 2 points is within competitive groups historically. Same for Troopers and Colts. They could nip 8th and 9th. That spread comes and goes all the time.

They didn't win brass or percussion, but win music!

I don't get the disdain for the show. I mean, their drill hasn't been spectacular since Gaines left. Brass is down,but they lost an all star brass staff and have young blood coming from other corps. The musical writing is top notch. Guard numbers are better than last year, and they're using new staff there too. Percussion is killing it, and they have tasty notes all around. I feel the GE is great, but more could be added. I just don't know what generates GE these days. The show connects with me, and flows. Sorry? I mean, I want them to dominate and all, but I don't see any corps with drill that great anymore. I hear lots of great playing by so many corps. I guess it's natural to kick a champion while they're down... I guess everyone should just Continue... I still don't think the sky is falling. There are almost 3 weeks left, and score increases from the top corps are going to slow down. We can't go over 100. Some shows are going to stall, others will rise...

Without being able to see the scores, this doesn't look like a slam dunk for BD.

I'm still hearing some blending problems in the brass, especially low brass. Great job! Mandarins! We are witnessing history in the making!

They were pushing hard tonight, and I heard the improvement in the brass! How bout that percussion!

I'm traveling to Mesquite now, and only heard the show on Flo. Sounds like they're improving a lot. The passenger said the looked cleaner than ever. The guys are in great spirits from my limited conversations with a few members, but the heat is a problem for them. Hey, we love them.

This Cadet show is great! One of my favored shows of the season.

This whole Covid thing was a canary in the mine for me. It's a wake-up call to how fragile our society works. We gotta join together and keep THIS activity alive. I don't care who the corps is, and I don't care if I love or hate their shows. We need them ALL. ...and I'm here for the people here too, because I think we're all basically good people with a similar set of interests.

Yeah, it's rough as they're surging. As so many around here say, the judges will rank them properly anyway.

I'm honestly looking forward to seeing Zephyrus Drum & Bugle Corps!
