  1. THAT'S the drums I remember! I think the tenors were cut different than standard Ludwigs as well... more concert tom-ish(?). '92.... good times.
  2. Didn't Carolina Crown start as a corps with Ludwigs about the same color? I can't find any pictures to help my memory.
  3. Listen/watch any DCI corps before 1988 (excluding SCV 87) those are Mylar (plastic) heads.
  4. White uniforms, white sticks, off-white drums.... seems things could get lost when watching them play. But the drums do match the sash, so they've got that going for them... which is nice.
  5. The current drums are works of art and marvels of engineering compared with Dynasty's first models. "Cheaply built" is having thin top hoops that were hollowed out so that a plastic ring could be inserted, and this was done well into the Kevlar Age of snare drumming.
  6. I admittedly don't know poo about Mason Entertainment. I was simply referring to Star of Indiana Drum & Bugle Corps back in the day, who were a Premier and Pearl line.
  7. Interesting because they're using Yamahas rather than Pearls (or Premiers ack!). Even more interesting was the low, low tenor tuning and the high snare tuning. Star only used Kevlar heads in '93 (I think? Dang memory..) so hearing that tune played on Kevlar is kind of odd. But the best thing about that was the amount of flams being played. World peace will only be achieved with grace notes. I think I need to listen to '89 now.
  8. It will be good to see Emerson's Piano Concerto on the field again!
  9. I'm going to try and incorporate the phrase "abra-ka-######" into everyday conversations now. Awesome video!
  10. Don't know if it's been said, but someone should call Star of Indiana and tell them it's safe to come back now.
  11. :throwupen: :throwupen: :throwupen: :throwupen: :throwupen: :throwupen: ...and that's about all I can say to that.
  12. If you made up that line, it's awesome. I have to give you a .... a ....and for good measure I'll throw in a If you copied that from someone else, I have to take it all back except for the
  13. Sellouts. Just kidding. That was sort of cool. I was hoping for a blast of actual corps music.
  14. Honestly some people will never get over it. Seriously in 2008 24 people were shot and six of those died (including the shooter) on the campus of Northern Illinois University - once known in drum corps as the mecca of Drum Corps Midwest. Another shooting (one person injured) occurred on the same campus two months ago. I'm extremely intrigued by the musical selections, but curious about the inclusion of a scoped rifle on the show's logo.
  15. Regardless, adding either definition with a picture of a gun...... I can see some people taking issue, especially in DeKalb.
  16. Thanks! A nice run of goosebumps to counter the ultra warm weather (for this time of the year!) is always welcome!
  17. Yeah... Phantom Regiment, UNT, Rhythm X, etc. all mean nothing to the marching activities.
  18. Several LOLs in that picture: -carriers outside the jacket -the taller tenor player apparently telling the other tenor a story -the shorter tenor player extremely annoyed at the taller tenor -ride cymbals in parades And the #1 LOL in that picture: Remo snares.
  19. Exactly. These Pearls sound nothing like SCV's Pearls (which seem to have more snare sound). BD really really seem to like that choked-off sound in their snares no matter what brand they are.
  20. They are seen briefly in a commercial. I don't remember what it's for, but when they show up.......... gets me every time.
  21. Agreed. The electric guitar in that was just cheese on top of cheese.
