  1. ditto to this!! and about that "band" thing!! you know when scv did the TOR, they kept on with the band thing too. you would it expect it from the crowd *being that i was on the far right in front of the crowd, i heard quite often after a horns down 'that band really sounds good and loud'. as drum corps continue to grow and be recognized more of a sport like skateboarding did, maybe they will start calling us drum corps, and stop calling us bands much like the side-walk surfer that is now a skateboarder. geesh. thats like comparing someones canoe to our battle ship. sure, they both float, but they have drastically different purposes in the water! :P
  2. there was a pretty good "local" turn out (california) and over-all was a good weekend. i stopped in a couple times just to see and listen. the pictures dont show all the returning vets and there was a few others that were not able to make the tryouts at the weekend that sent in videos.
  3. play for the crowd. they are the ones that make it exciting!! stomp a judge! lol MAGGIE!!!! MY bus driver!!!! SCV3 b**bs
  4. YOWZA YOWZA YOWZA, WAS WONDERING WHEN IT WOULD END. good thing it wasnt the cavies playing this show, there would only be couples of men dancing on the floor ladies and gentlemen. YOWZA YOWZA. can you believe they traded in the greatest hornline to set them up as background so that people who saw the show couldnt even remember who was playing other then the blue uniforms? YOWZA YOWZA YOWZA. BD always had one of my favorite "sounds" it was like i couldnt hear them this year.
  5. if my memory serves me correct, there were about 5 corps this year that all they did was announce! THROUGH THE ENTIRE SHOW!!!!! <**>
  6. i would think that just about all of at least the top 6 may have at least 1. and im pretty sure that the corps that came from taipai had at least a few from other countries other then the US. :P
  7. man...these are killing me. all i could think of when i was in the theatre when the girl was at the door, was... ...so, are they going to give her a mic too??? please dont. :P and then, who did they interview after thier show was done???!!! man....
  8. here! here!!! but, if my memory serves me correct. there was a very high turn out in 1991 while in Texas, by the GIANT FLYING COCROACHES!!!! we had so many dings in our horns after we practiced at night. it was like they were dive-bombing Kamakazi style!!! ohhh the welts we had on our arms and heads after doint practice. soo poetic that we were practicing the "fall of saigon" so much at that point too.
  9. where do we download the agenda??? i was unable to find it on the DCI.org site. if you know, please apply the link here. thank you.
  10. i still have my money on bubba. i swear i saw the remains of a sasquach (sp) left in the showers one year! b**bs
  11. come on m8. youre VK. classic for you guys to take other shows and make even the most dreary out to be funny and interesting! :P you can do it, and youll do it with smashing style like only i remember the VK to do. B)
  12. there were alot of changes that year! the staff was BD and Cavies guys. Drill guys were same. seems that i remember it as instead of playing for the crowds, the focus was to the judges and they werent giving us anything!!! nothing was right with them, they were never happy with anything. all the different flags and color gaurd stuff they did in the begining of the season was all narrowed down to, if i remember right, 1! difference in staff...here you go. i started in baritone line. had to leave due to family issues, came back and my hole was filled. so there was a french spot open. now, i know i didnt play as good as the guys who have been on the horn for that year, but i was picking it up fast, and knew the parts within a few days. then along comes a spider who had her own cider for the horn caption heads son who was an assistant. she couldnt march, and played about as good as i did on that horn. i was a nothing with 1 year and knew all the parts. who do you think got the spot??!! thats right. HER. :P so i got a call 1 week before tour and was asked to fill a contra hole. i took it cause i wanted to play really bad. it took me less then a week to learn the parts, and about 1.5 weeks to learn all the drill. man, that contra wrecked my body up. still to this day! anyhow, gail was pushing us to give them more. seemed confusing with the horn staff (which i thought was good otherwise) and just not being able to go anywhere with the judges. the crossmen!!!! so close.... OMG>
  13. i thought i put in a reply for this, but i couldnt find it after i hit add reply. :/ and this site is slow. anyhow, this a test now. im not going to totally retype my last message.
  14. i had the chance to see them while i was in bakersfield last week. not at the show, but at the high school they were practicing at. i didnt get to see a uniformed run through, but after it was done, i had the chance to talk with Stew for a few moments. found that the gaurd had completely relearned all new work for the 3 movement (if my memory serves me right) and i think that this could be the reason for the drop off. i thought that the brass sounded good for the time of year, especially since they have not gone to "higher" ground for air training yet ;) anyhow, its a bummer to have a let down at a show, this i know. but how could we truely discern how everything will place so early?! and then get all worked up about it as if there is something that we could do about it. besides, if every person out there that was saying what place a corp would take this early in the game was even half right, wouldnt they be winning the lottery all the time, or at least half of the time??? and they would probably have million dollar books out there and be on Oprah! :P just like eveyone else. just my oppinion.
