  1. If you want to be successful you have to push. I get the emails and FB announcements from BD, Cadets and SCV too. I think it shows they care very much. I'll take 100 emails and announcements! Only two voting days left!
  2. For years I've been hoping BD would do something like this. I hope this continues long after the Chase event is over.
  3. I saw Beatrix from The Netherlands Anne Frank show I found it to be a very moving show! I loved it! Beatrix created wonderful emotion on the floor. Great Job!
  4. I haven't been to a color guard show in about 6 years. ( working overseas) My friend told me about WGI online I'm watching. Why are guards so esoteric? so somber, boring even. I just saw Avon H.S. Thats! More Like It!
  5. Judging by the post I've read in the past year or two. DCP seams to mean Devil Critics Prohibited
  6. I hope Lucus Oil Field is not an echo chamber like RCA dome. I hope 2008 is even more competitive than 2007. I hope Cadets subtracts the vocal. I hope My Devils add content. I hope Crown and Bloo improve. I wish Phantom a better choice in guard uniforms this year. I hope there's a 5 corps tie for 12th leaving 16 corps in finals. ( maybe that's pushing it)
  7. I'm listening to: 1. Phantom-19 2. Vanguard-18 3. Blue Knights-13 3a. Boston-13 4. Cadets ( Non Vocal version from Yea.org)-12 5. Cavies-11 6. Madison-9 7.My Devils-5 7a. Crown-5 9. Cadets (vocal version)-4 * Stats supplied by My IPod
  8. In 2000 something, they increased the number of seats to 91,704. hhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FedExFieldttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FedExField
  9. I agree with FED EX field, It's a wonderful stadium and the acoustics and sight lines are great. RFK is an echo chamber, It's great for DC United games and barely good for National games. Collage Park, Maryland 2000 was a last minute rush job by DCI when the FED EX deal fell through due to the Skins changing ownership. But with long term planing Collage Park could be a great venue too. As far as changes: Tickets prices are too high at regionals and finals. No alcohol at drum corps shows.( drink afterward with your friends)
  10. Quarter finals night was a very sad night for drum corps. But, was it the most degrading moment in drum corps history? Was that night worst than the 93 Star booing fiasco?
  11. Keep rifles but also introduce other equipment other than flag and sabers.
  12. When DCP becomes so much like RAMD you can't tell the difference.
  13. Don't you think Drum Corp period has distanced it's self from it's military roots. Examples: No posting of the american flag. No color pre. No military style inspections. No more VFW shows. No VFW support for various reasons.
  14. I think drum corps should strive to be more than just "Extream Marching Band". I think drum corps should play to the broadway ,Cirque Du Soleil, and theather crowd. Drum Corps IS the epitome of marching music, and the final product should be some of the most complex visual packages, most challenging music played at the highest level and color guard should evolve into part gymnast, part dancer and part killer equipment manipulator. Drum Corps should strive to become performance art. Drum Corps roots are deep in the band community and you would never ailenate your base but Drum Corps should always strive to be considered more than just a very very good marching band. Appealing to judges and fans does not have to be mutualy exclusive. It's a delicate balance, but it can be done. But let's face it, some people be they fan or judge will not like you no matter what.
  15. Power makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, It gives me goose bumps!
  16. I'm not a Blue Devil Borg like some. When we are great like 76, 77 and 79,80 I'll say so. When we are at our creative best like 05 and 06 I'll say so. And, When My Devils are average like 2007 I'll say so.[
  17. For those of you in support of the Cadets' narration, I have two questions. Please, those that are anti-narration need not respond. I know how you feel. 1) Did you like it? I'm not asking if you appreciated the "innovation" or the right of the corps to do it, or who is a Cadets fan. I mean, did you like the actual narration? Did you think it was done well? Did you find the content uplifting or entertaining? There are no right or wrong answers... I just want to hear your personal opinions. I started to love the narration during the west coast run around Ogden, Utah. I thought the narration was very well done. I glad The Cadets didn't find trained voice people. The voice of drum corps is not this monotone trained professional. The voice of drum corps is the voice of youth, young people with all their flaws, striving to become better and grow. The content along with the great visual and audio impact points worked very well. You don't get less than a point from the championship without being great. 2) If you were judging narration, how would you do it? I'm not asking you to guess how DCI is doing it, or how you think they should. I want to hear how you would do it, and how your judging would have affected the scores. Narration is not on the judges sheets but if it were I would give The Cadets the highest marks. In My Opinion: The first song/ chapter is like a young persons guide to drum corps as The Cadets introduce different sections of the corps. The second song/ chapter takes you inside the corps a day at practice, Like the Martha Grahm quote. The third song takes you on one young mans journey and then the best ending in drum corps this year! Minus the narration The Cadets show was like pre 2000 drum corps with complex drill moves, crazy solos, company fronts and a kickazz ending. I'm glad My Devils won but The Cadets had the best show in drum corps this year. READ ABOVE I ask that nobody attack any sincere response to these questions (but I know the chances of that...). I honestly want to understand the feelings from both sides of the debate
  18. Overrated- I hate to say it but My Devils. After a very innovative and creative 2005 with Dance Derby. Then in 2006 with the comlpex and demanding Godfather. It seems like My Devils played it safe this year. Less marching, less music just less show! I'm very proud of the corps and their performance. I'm disapointed in the show I saw this year. Underrated-Bluecoats, They were beating my Devils and Cavies early. Great brass and percussion the judges just burried them in the pack at the end of the year. Boston, probably the best Boston Crew ever! Madison! What a late season push. I think they got slotted too early.
  19. Did the boos affect The Cadets' performance? Absolutely! Who could have been prepared for anything even close to what they encountered. Did George do the right thing by pulling them off the field to permit the field to be relined? Absolutely! The Cavaliers, performing just before the Cadets, experienced several members falling, and their Director not only notified George of the condition of the field, but was solidly in support of George's decision. The irony is that the Cavaliers were the only corps that would have benefitted from a penalty assessed against the Cadets, but Mr. Fiedler, like George, chose to do the right thing rather than the advantageous thing. It amazes me how so many people both in the stands and in the theaters characterized what occurred according to their own distorted prejudices and/or invalid assumptions. On Thursday night in the Rose Bowl the audience became a mob, and our long-held belief that drum corps people were something special was tarnished forever . You can read the rest on HopBlog
  20. Any corps that can withstand that horrible stupid display on Thursday night and still maintain their humor and joy for performing, And maintain their placement IS a corps full of warriors. That tells you alot about the Kids, the staff and their leader. Oh and they perform kickazz shows.
