  1. Attitude certainly does play in. If you have potential and are willing to learn, chances you will get called back. If you are stand-offish and dont get along with other staff/members, chances are slim. One guy last year came to audition with our guard without ever touching a flag in his life. he was horrible, but the staff recognized that he was dedicated and willing to learn. and he got offered a spot. you never know. keep going back and show them you are dedicated.
  2. i really like the idea of an auction. Whether it be a local show, or being able to direct the show, etcetc. its a great idea. The problem with fundraising is the logistics of it. It takes ALOT of planning and a stable, reliable base of dedicated supporters. Good community support is also critical.
  3. where as i like the idea that even if the corps im auditioning for doesnt accept me, but another one will because of the exposure, the fees, travel, and logistics of that would be insane and completely outweigh the benefits.
  4. is dci still going to broadcast the quarterfinals performance like they have in the past? because i havent seen anything on their website or heard anyone talking about it.
  5. i know this might be another thread completely, but what about reverb in atlanta. this is going to be my first time attending a big show, and I dont want to drive for 20 hrs and it suck.
  6. GE, I think, does get a bit more weight than it should, but i wouldnt necesarily change it. If a show is technically and emotionally accurate, then the GE scores will go up, and vice versa. Its a double edged sword, bc you get lower scores in both captions if you are not accurate.
  7. In response to the whole NCAA tag, changing a college is a much bigger decision and harder to do than changing corps. theres usually a contract or scholarship involved with college players. also, the top six. what if the were to hvae an off year (coughscvcough) and get a lower score than someone in the rest of div 1. still fair for the split? how would a corp be able to move into the elite? if crown or bluecoats were able to outscore the top 6, would they be able to join the elite, making it an elite 8?
  8. Not everyone who changes corps is ring chasing... conflicts with staff, work ethic, etc, are all reasons to leave... Boston holds successful camps in fl. think of all the ppl that live in s.fl. that start out at magic and advance their skill level. should they have to stay at magic? or worse sit out a year? limiting someones involvement in a corps just because they want to challenge themselves more is not excusable.
  9. our director is always telling us about how there was a deaf/blind girl in his college marching band. she never messed up except for one show where she was one step behind the entire show. i think that as long as the disability isnt seriosuly threatening and theres a doctors ok, corps shouldnt limit a persons performance.
  10. I would love nothing more than for it to be in widescreen. in a few years HD would be nice. but while we're talking about big screen and quality... let me just say, seeeing dci in IMAX would be a dream come true.
  11. dear santa I just wanna march thats not too much to ask for, is it? <santa>
  12. It was like, 5 seconds long. barely noticeable if you didnt know it was them. but it still made me happy.
  13. I usually dont watch the parade (9 AM??) but I am waking up early especially just for that.
  14. Which show from the past few years (post 2000) has what it takes to become a legendary show, one that people will talk about 20 years from now? why?
  15. I ran track for three years, and that was very physically demanding Being in dc is even more, in my opinion. But is it a sport? lets just compromise and say its an artistic sport? lol
