  1. Here's something to think about. WGI just put out a news release with this statement in it: "The number of color guards registered at this year’s world championships is now at 352, an all-time record for the event." Also last year the championship sold out and is expected to again this year. Apparently WGI is doing something people like.
  2. Very true. WGI set a record for the number of teams (guard and drumline) this year.

  7. Here it is right out of the manual for 2010: All color guards will be seeded using their most recent regional score increased by 1.5 points for each of the first four weeks of the regional calendar and 1.0 point per week until the end of the competitive calendar. The resulting “ranking list” will be used to assign color guards to their preliminary appearance. Color guards with identical scores will be sorted alphabetically. This ranking method was designed to be an objective way to determining preliminary appearance. A single panel of judges will judge all preliminaries.
  8. Since jazz running is a basic dance technique, talk to a dance studio about teaching him how to do it or since it is such a commonly used technique in winterguard talk to the guard staff of your son's band.
  9. Actually, Brigs won prelims in 1997 with a 96.00. Empire & Cabs tied for 2nd with a 95.7. Empire tied Brigs for first in finals.
  10. It was wonderful for our Northstar parents, families and friends who couldn't go to Dayton. They figured out how to project it onto a wall with a power point projector and then had a guard party to watch Finals. They all loved it. Larry Schmidt North Syracuse Northstars

  14. Try this: http://wgi.org/2009/CGWCInfo/09PrelimsLogs.pdf This was still there as of a few seconds ago.
  15. Chris The free replay was included to directors as part of their WGI membership, not to everyone. It does not appear to be that way this year. Larry
  16. We also bought Excalibur sabers, 7 of them. Four broke the first week we had them (both hilts and blades). We have used Excaliburs in the past but I never saw anything like the breaking of these. We sent them back and paid the extra for Kings. Larry Schmidt
  17. Oh how I miss those heady days of rec.arts.marching.drumcorps in the late 90's. Seriously, you're killing me. Larry* *may or may not be my real name
  18. Going way back to 1979, the Bridgemen had a huge surge in the last couple weeks of the season. This was the first year they did the Civil War medley and the audience down south went wild for it. The Bridgemen had come in 8th at Whitewater/DCI Mid-West and there were 7 other corps that had beaten them head to head or were scoring higher at other shows including: Blue Devils, SCV, Crossmen, 27th Lancers, Guardsmen, Madison Scouts and Northstars ranking the Bridgemen in 15th place. The surge in the last two weeks of the season was something amazing to watch. Bayonne ended in the top 6 (with a penalty keeping them out of 5th). Thanks Larry Schmidt
  19. Trish Thanks, We'll see you at The South Brunswick Power Regional. Will Billy be there? Larry
