  1. There was an ordinance in Essex County, so the Salem guardians used lethal injection. The hanging scene was put on by a local fife and drum corps at the time to placate the populace.
  2. Are some people getting antsy about Bostons show ? Did they burn witches, did the Germans really sink the Lusitania , was Napoleon really exiled on St.Helena. a moot point. This is a drum corps show, not a historical test.
  3. The largest attendance ever at DCI Finals was in Montreal in the 80's at Olympic Stadium (was there) The fluctuation in the dollar over the years was a factor working on the costs of Canadian corps traveling to the U.S. Quebec was a big drum corps Province. In recent years Acadmie Musical, Linsolite, and Les Etoiles were on the scene in DCI. 911 was a big stopper. It became difficult to transit the border with groups , let alone a drum corps. I agree, an effort should be made to bring Canada back to DCI. It was just much better when they were involved
  4. Cape May ,New Jersey is further south than Baltimore, Maryland, Pa. has a seaport on the Great Lakes, N'east Pa is a higher latitude than New Haven ,Connecticut
  5. 7 thru 12 for me is much more interesting. Could be some notable changes with repercussions.
  6. Am enjoying watching the Mandarins . Definitely a corps on the move, finally getting some recognition for their effort.
  7. The Mandarins were very good last year, unfortunately they were slotted before they crossed the Rockies.. Lets hope this year is different
  8. The field is colorless, everyone is in black and dark uniforms. The corps are all starting to look the same..There is an identity loss.
  9. The Mandarins got the short end last year.... It was as if " gee they are not supposed to be this good" with the scoring I would make it a point to watch their show on tour last year. Seems that good things are happening in Sacramento. All the best in this upcoming season
  10. It was all caused by the Velvet Knights buses.....
  11. Been to Allentown so many times, however have also been there when the rain and lightning arrived and the stadium was cleared. It was no fun, and the experience of being there disappeared with the arrival of the above. If you are coming from any distance, you need not to have to worry about a show being on or off, the financial misspending, or being kicked out of the stadium for legal reasons.. Indy is the logical choice to avoid all three. Without the worry, Allentown is a good show
  12. Most information seems to be on facebook. Not on F B for reasons, so will glean what info possible from what you guys put up on Planet thanks
  13. Because Sarah Brightman had a previous engagement, and they had to go with a nineteen year old understudy.
  14. Ha ! If It were possible , it would be Crown. Caught a bunch of shows mid -tour. Feeling is that it is a good year , corps wise and crowd wise...... have fun....
  15. Appreciate you running this thread. Have been following quarters and semi's from a ship in Bremen, Germany
  16. Have to compliment the WBZ broadcaster Jordan Riche. He definitely included the Crusaders in his (along with all others) commentary. Did give BAC much credit as to their make up and ability.
  17. Am a CDL "A" driver will be driving for a World Class Corps Am writing to find out if you can use a CDL "B" driver. Have a friend that could use the work. Has the attitude and personality to be a good drum corps driver. If you might need anyone , I will pass it on to him. paul
  18. Yes , I remember when Howard played 'Time to say goodbye" on tape to prospective hornline members at the Davie (Fla.) Elementary School. Jim Cronin was shocked when he walked into the auditorium and saw eighty horns to tryout for the corps. They were rounded up by several corps members from Braddock High School (Miami) . Tom Santino was the brass head at the time and his presence had much to do wuth the recruiting also. Wish i could remember the rest of the staff (time taking its toll) It was a glorious day seeing the numbers, and was a harbinger of good things to come personel wise.. Actually got to know all of the kids in the horn line. Was driving the tractor trailer from Boston to Fla. at the time Dan Greer would also make trips It was a rewarding time, after helping out a bit during the days on the asphalt at the Hood Milk plant on Rutherford Ave in Charlestown a few years earlier, and hoping to get 40 horns ! Those were precarious days, and one wonders how it all survived ? Well obviously things worked out with good management and the corps is in great shape...
  19. Castle State College. Super facility in a great Vermont town. Channel 3 (WCAX) or Chan 5 (WPTZ) in Burlington might be interested in doing a peice on the Crusaders. They are onto everything happening in the state.
  20. Craiga Thank you for putting the website up. Impressive !!! Look forward to pulling one of the equipment trucks again this year
  21. I stay off face book, wish they would put more on the website. Thanks for the heads up !

  24. I second that... I guess that is what keeps you in shape... two runs back to back.. 84-81-77-26-95 ?? Hope to be in line this summer. Paul
  25. I know what Conquest means to so many in BAC circles, however I would like to not have the staff have the albatross of the required playing of Conquest around their necks.
