I saw them rehearse for a bit in Michigan City and I realized how much I love Pearl Bass Drums. They sounded sweet. They were playing the #### out of them too. Which is always fun to watch/listen to.

If you are going to consider Beloit and Rockford or driving 45-50 minutes as viable option...you may just want to start looking for hotels east of madison near 94 heading towards Milwaukee(johnson's creek I believe has few hotels and is about 30 mins from Madison). There are rooms available at the Days Inn in Johnson Creek.

Drum corps fads that need to stop

I agree that the money is important but I think the idea of it being more PR then money (or the other way around) depends on how many parades you can fit in on that day and what the schedule of the corps is. When I was on staff at the HS band in Racine I know that the Racine parade was one of the lower (is not lowest) paying gigs we did. We usually scheduled 2-3 parades that day. But the Racine parade IMO was to show community appreciation and PR and they other 1-2 were for some $$$. Also after looking at this lineup for the Racine parade. There was less then 6 musical units in a 150 unit parade?? Kilties, Lighthouse Brigade Sr., Lighthouse Jr., Racine Scouts and I think one maybe to more smaller groups. This is a little OT but I remember 10 years ago when a lot of the marching bands that were in for the weekend for the Brigade Show would stick around to do the 4th of July parade in Racine but that is not the case. My guess is that the money they get for the parade is significantly less then what it would cost to house and feed the kids one more day. Little disappointing I think. I know if I was going to get up at 8am, deal with traffic and parking, and see less then 6 marching units I would be extremely disappointed. That said, most of know that parades are a main form of cash flow for marching organizations but the reasons for doing some of the parades, I think, are on a parade by parade basis.

I think seeing they were the only DCA corps at the show had something to do with it. I seem to remember being told that DCA corps would be on DCA sheets only if there is more then 2 DCA corps competing. But that's just here say from me. Not sure how correct I am on it.

Didn't even notice that... Anyway, great review as always JC. I fealt like I was there....wait

You're like a miniature Buddha...covered in hair. Come again? You know I don't speak Spanish. In English, please. Huh? You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate a whole wheel of cheese? How'd you do that? I'm not even mad. That's amazing. I forgive you.

Next year they should have Madison 97 so we can hear Cesario say "that Swashed my buckle" again. Great show. The Kenosha Theater was packed. I wish I had a chance to have seen 2005's countdown :( -
