  1. Spartans tied with SCVC in the overall visual caption, shouldn't they be given an award too? I'm confused..
  2. Ok, so I just spent like 30 mins reading this topic and I'm glad that it has finally been brought up. I marched the Cadets 05-07 and saw some very disturbing things at retreats those 3 years. I am not surprised at all by what I have read. After marching with the Cadets I lost a lot of respect for a few drum corps that I had previously been a fan of. The worst incident that I was a part of was at finals in 07. I was on the edge of our retreat block on the side closest to the blue devils. At the announcement of 2nd place, we were barraged by terrible slurs that I cant even imagine saying; including "take that band fags". Not only is that totally classless, but the guy who said it apparently forgot that he had just won a marching band show and therefore is also a quote "band ###". I am glad that light is finally being shed on this subject because something has to be done about the total lack of sportsmanship, either by dci or the corps themselves. In my years of marching I always had respect for the phantom regiment and the santa clara vanguard because of how they represent their organizations while in uniform.
  3. We used the Hammonds too, GREAT mouthpiece! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a mello 6 size mouthpiece!
  4. Rose Bowl Quarterfinals :P haha jk....umm...there was a pretty bad place in 05, i think it was in Iowa or something, it had 6 inch long grass.
  5. Ya we had charts for our whole show. Our drill didnt change much either.
  6. So i was inspired by what someone posted about wondering how much distance was covered in a show so I decided to do some calculations... Using a ruler and my drill charts I measured the distances between each of my sets (about 190 pages). After calculating, I found out that I moved about 1050 yards during my show. This is also 3151 feet, or .597 miles! Very interesting! This is not very accurate but it gives you an idea of about how much moving we did.
  7. Is there anyone else out there who is tired of people saying how hard jazz running is? Personally I find marching 6-5 with straight legs at 212bpm way more diffcult to execute. Im not posting to say whos better than who at what, i just want to know what your personal preference is. :)
  8. hey saxmanjames, do I know you? Are you talking about the original soloist as being the soloist from when they had it in their show? Ive heard good things, but also that the vet number is low. I was taught by the staff that is there now and they are great people, i dont see any problems for them this year.
  9. pants that dont make the "swishing" noise :)
  10. hop said announcements are coming... :) oh, and they announced a uniform deal with the band hall if you didnt see it.
  11. you could be like the guy on semifinals night who yelled over and over, "f*** you cadets! you f****** suck! Youre a disgrace to drum corps!," as we were walking to the gate in 2's. Class, pure class right there.
  12. How about more full retreats period? I dont like having the only retreat be finals night. If anything, have retreats at regionals.
  13. Cascades guantlets are the exact same as BK, but they are white with the green and sliver accent like the baldric.
  14. new info on this years unis....Click here Im excited! He said BUCKLES! :D
  15. so ya...Symphonic Movement....its going to be sweet...oh wait, am i in the wrong forum? Is this the one about pointless arguing? sorry, I'll go start my own topic titled "Cadets: 2007 Opener Announced"
  16. As it says in the explanation, its about life in drum corps as a cadet. Just so that's more clear. =)
  17. How bout pants that are two colors? say cream and maroon for example ;-)
  18. Theres also a difference between a rookie who has marched/been drum major for a different corps and a rookie who has no prior drum corps experience. Im sure who ever gets the honor of being drum major will do a fantastic job.
  19. There is one spot open, I believe Chris Castille is returning as head drum major. If im wrong, let me know, I havent been to a camp yet.
