  1. Yea, it's kind of a shame. There are so many great high school stadiums in the Cincinnati area and lots of them are getting field turf. Fairfield should step it up.
  2. Do the Crossmen change the schools based on where they are at? I thought I remembered them saying Wisconsin over Ohio St in a video clip I saw online.
  3. Actually, that wasn't meant to just slam the Cadets, it's honestly how I feel. I was at Indy on Saturday, and I can honestly say of the 16.5 performances I saw (I got there about 5 minutes late), the Cadets performance was the only one that I didn't enjoy. When I go to see a drum corps, I expect to hear music and see marching. Nothing more, nothing less. It's one thing for some corps (Blue Stars, Crossmen, etc) to have some narration or Crossmen's radio commentary, but when watching the Cadets' show I was so distracted by all of the random stuff that shouldnt be there (IMO) I couldnt enjoy good old music and marching. When I specifically tried to put blinders on and block out all the characters/props/singing/ect. the music and drill and drum breaks were neat. But I don't want to have to work on blocking stuff out to enjoy a show. And I'm afraid if the Cadets win, it will only encourage more of this stuff in the future, so I'm hoping they finish 4th or 5th and they stop doing what they've done the past couple years, because I've loved some recent Cadet shows (00, 03) and want to see more of that. So nothing against the members or anyone else, just for the sake of getting this stuff out of drum corps, I don't want to see them win. If you want to classify that as Cadet bashing, go ahead, but I'm not bashing the Cadets, I'm bashing drum corps shows that are meant to draw your attention away from the actual corps, and forces you to focus on 4 color guard members, props, and a singer.
  4. Im pretty sure when two corps have tied for a championship, the next best corps got 3rd place. So...if 22 corps tie for 1st, the odd corps out would get 23rd.
  5. No...I would actually be very happy if those 22 corps all tied for first place. It would be too bad for that 23rd place corps though :P
  6. I wouldn't be upset if.... Blue Devils Cavaliers Phantom Regiment Bluecoats Santa Clara Vanguard Carolina Crown Blue Knights Boston Crusaders Madison Scouts Glassmen Spirit from JSU Colts Crossmen Pacific Crest Capital Regiment Blue Stars Mandarins Southwind Esperanza The Magic Seattle Cascades or Pioneer ...won DCI Finals in Madison
  7. Unfortunately for me, because I can't go, it's actually on Monday, not Tuesday.
  8. Actually...the last time Italy won the World Cup, the Blue Devils took the DCI championship (1982). Coincidence? I think not. :P
  9. What about last night's Newbury Park, CA scores? Is there a reason the Mandarins, Esperanza, and Pacific Crest are being left out of the regional prelim results? The recap still isn't up on DCI's website but shouldn't they still be included?
  10. Things that stuck out to me.... --Top to bottom I enjoyed almost all of the corps performances. I have the finals CD from last year and that was not the case with last year (musically at least). Southwind, Capital, Blue Stars, and Crossmen all had very cool shows. --I loved the Glassmen. I really like strong classical music in drum corps, so I naturally liked their show. The part in the closer where the corps gradually drops out musically (I assume to represent Beethoven going deaf) then comes back in with the 9th theme is just amazing...one of my favorite impact moments of the night. --I really liked Madison's show. Some of my favorite drum corps shows of all time were 80's and 90's Scouts so many DCP Madison supporters began complaining about the show I had my doubts. IMO, it still had the power of a traditional Scouts show. --Crown was good, but nothing special for me. I enjoyed their 04 and 05 shows more, but that's just me. --I really liked the Bluecoats. Their music was right up my alley. --The Cadets. I heard all the talk on hear about them and I expected the worst, and it was...sort of. For about the forst half of the show all I could pay attention to were the gimmicks and it was bad. Then I started to block all that out and I actually started enjoying the show. I think that if all the gimmicks weren't there, this would be one of my favortite shows this year. Unfortunately, they are there and are just too distracting for me to enjoy the show. --The Cavies were just so so for me. The music bored me, and I was pretty low in the stand so the visual didn't look as cool as I'm sure they were. I would probably like it better if I saw it from up high. --Blue Devils were by far my favorite show of the night. Music was awesome, drumline was good. It was just all-around great.
  11. It changed since last summer, so maybe the site hasn't been updated.
  12. Sort of. Based on finals last year, the first through sixth corps (Cadets, Cavies, Phantom, BD, Blueocats, and Madison) have a random draw for the last 6 spots (5 without Phantom). This is repeated with the 7-9 corps, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-21, and 22-24. Blue Stars go last since they were D2 last year.
  13. Indianapolis is now in the eastern time zone, correct? I know last year coming from Cincinnati, we showed up an hour early because there was a time change, but I think that might have changed.
  14. First of all, it would be a 4-point drop, not 10. He said that the second column took into accout whether the corps was on the upswing or downswing, which probably means the most recent score trends are taken into account, and Spirit has went down the last two shows. It's probably just a glitch in the formula he used.
  15. Does order of appearance usually have much impact on scores? It would seem that the Cavies would be at a disadvantage going on 5th last, and that Blue Devils have an advantage by going last, but I don't really know. The order is: -Cavaliers -Bluecoats -Cadets -Madison -Blue Devils
  16. I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the top 6 are in a group, then 7-9, 8-12, etc. Then it is randomly drawn from there. Div II, III, and Seniors are all in the afternoon, with the top scorer appearing at the night show I think.
  17. Longest Active: The Academy - 20 consecutive wins dating back to 2004 They've never lost!
  18. Was anybody at the Columbia show that can tell us what these issues were?
  19. 1. Blue Devils 2. Cavaliers 3. Cadets 4. Phantom Regiment 5. Bluecoats 6. Vanguard 7. Boston 8. Madison 9. Crown 10. Glassmen 11. Crossmen 12. Spirit
