  1. Great review and loved the pics! Irving Fan of the Arts
  2. Thank you for your thoughts. Irving Fan of the Arts
  3. It seem this year they are working in many new judges. Irving Fan of the Arts
  4. Tell that to BD....there the ones affected by that finals panel. Irving Fan of the Arts
  5. We all tend to forget even our judges are human and often times show their humanness at the wrong time. Remember when PR (Spartacus year) caught BD in finals after BD had won the whole year? I think the judges did get it right in the end but it should have happened at semi-finals not finals. I'm sure that still has left a nasty taste in BD's mouth. So I am one that believes that the judges will have their minds made up who the contendars (not four corps) are no later than Atlanta. Irving Fan of the Arts
  6. There goes that ugly word....."slotting". Irving Fan of the Arts
  7. I certainly have included SCV in the mix because they are pushing someone off the podium. Who? Irving Fan of the Arts
  8. I'm glad you're keeping up with my posts not a dci judge but band judge. So you do agree that BD or Cadets may win but this is not a 2 horse race? The only history I brought up was the championships Cadets and BD have between the two....that is FACT. If BD had not lost to PR or Cadets in their current run they would have strung together at least 7 DCI championships...another FACT. I am very familiar with the history of DCI since its inception in 1972, championships held in Whitewater, and I'm certainly not here to defend the Cadets, they can take care of themselves. But just like you I have opinions and I voice them without calling someone out. Enjoy Indy, I know I will. Irving Fan of the Arts
  9. This is the closest to the truth we'll get. For all you who think this is a four corps race, thank God you're not judges. You'd probably pick Bluecoats because you think they're cool. If you really had to bet the house on who's going to win.....you'd better go with history; BD and Cadets have 25 championships between the two of them. They do not like to share! 10. I'm surprised no one has corrected you yet; don't they all meet in San Antonio and again in Atlanta before Allentown? Even in Allentown they are split between performing Friday and Saturday night. So when they do actually meet your placements might be off just a tad bit. Irving Fan of the Arts
  11. Let me ask you a question kissmybrass; I've seen Boston's show several times live--where do you think they will place come Indy? Irving Fan of the Arts
  12. I was thinking that has to be a typo and should be SCV instead. Irving Fan of the Arts
  13. Thank you. This is the type of information that makes me giddy . Irving Fan of the Arts
  14. To add to your comment, no one would have noticed that some (very few) members are sporting goatees until a photo was posted on facebook and then the firestorm began. And I personally think the no drop sash is going to give the Cadets a really fresh look to compliment their show concept. Alumni complained back in 2005 as well as 2011 when the Cadets altered the traditonal uniform and both those years they won DCI championships. Irving Fan of the Arts
  15. My suggestion is to learn how to post without ego attached. Someone will always have something to say, that's just the nature of this beast. Irving Fan of the Arts
  16. Beginning? I'm afraid alumni has wasted no time complaining about these issues? Irving Fan of the Arts
  17. Thank you for posting. When/where was this recording? I recognize a few changes since. Irving Fan of the Arts
  18. The drop sash will be going away in order to do this cumerbund change. Irving Fan of the Arts
  19. The cumberbund changes are already built into the show they just have to actually do it. If you have viewed their show, during the second part where the horn-line marches stage right and they all go down to one knee in a ripple? That is the change to the second cumberbund (I can't give it all away on how they do it), the last change occurs during the concert french horn solo (common man) when they kneel in front of the field blockers. It will work quite nicely, IMO. Irving Fan of the Arts
  20. No secret in Cadet-land. I honestly like their strategy. Let's see how they stack up against BD with what they have. Irving Fan of the Arts
  21. George, I completely agree with you on your point. cfirwin3 you said this: We typically do not see this type of competition and the scores to back it up. We usually know that 1 out of 2 groups is going to win by the end of the 2nd week. I don't think we are going to know who out of about 4 or 5 are going to win until the final performance is over. I have to disagree with you on your point. That's just too much to put on our adjudicators to have 4 or 5 vying for the title. Trust me it will be clearer right around San Antonio no later than Atlanta and it won't be 4 or 5 more like a two pony race with a third sticking around. Irving Fan of the Arts
  22. Ego was mentioned somewhere in this thread....I can say from experience I have shared design ideas with show designers and they are open to receiving them, but don't let your ego get wounded if your idea is not used. Every elite corps has suffered through a poorly designed show and all they can do is tweek it the best they can to compete at Indy. Irving Fan of the Arts
  23. Nevermind the fans; Crown and its design team are finding out just how hard it is to maintain that upward direction now that they are DCI champions. BD and Cadets don't have that problem and the fans have hated some of their designed shows. Irving Fan of the Arts
  24. Bluecoats have never been where they are trying to get. Irving Fan of the Arts
