  1. Is this the earliest Crown has broken 80?

  3. From my Crown son. He's on the phone now.
  4. Root Beer Floats. My wife, daughter and I served RB floats for Crown after the Warrenton show. A big hit! Since we live not too far we brought in what we needed and packed it out again so we didn't put much of a burden on the food truck. The parking attendants let us park close to the corps so we could deliver our almost 6 gallons of ice cream and 20+ 2 liter bottles of root beer. Thank goodness our local Safeway sells dry ice or we would have had vanilla soup. But as other posters mentioned, call the corps ahead of time and coordinate with the food manager to make sure you're not conflicting with their plans.
  5. There are a lot of references in Crown's show, and it was mentioned in the 7/8/08 Field Pass (start at about 4:00) http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=e...2b-ef3d56fe7e7a
  6. dci.org corrected the Cadets' score to 89.7.
  7. My Crown son said the difference was only 1.1 points, so Cadets' score should have been 89.7.
  8. on dci.org. I think there's a typo... THE exSIGHTment OF SOUND Place Corps Score World Class 1 The Cadets 98.700 2 Carolina Crown 88.600 3 Boston Crusaders 82.050 4 Blue Stars 80.950 5 Glassmen 80.750 6 Colts 76.750 7 Spirit 76.650 8 Troopers 75.250 All age corps 1 Gulf Coast Sound 61.875

  11. ... and Crown has one young lady on the snare line
  12. My son just called from there. No rain out, and as of a couple of minutes ago they're still waiting on scores.
  13. There's a short video on the WGI website about Rhythm X's show and how they adapted the show for the championships, including adding over 120 people standing behind the velvet rope.
  14. I also noticed in the press releases they are considering running shuttles from Houston, which will help with the costs of flying from the east coast to the weekend camps. All good signs that they want the continuity of the vets!
  15. I've had mixed feelings about the announcement. While on one hand, I hope this change will help the Crossmen. I do business in San Antonio, and it's an area that is growing, and fast. I hope that Mr. Chambers and his staff will be able to bring the XMen back to the ranks of finalists. I worry about the vets. The reality is that many/most were able to drive to the weekend rehearsal camps when they were on the east coast. I wonder if anyone has stats on the ratio of members who drove versus flew to weekend camps in NJ this past season? The vets (and alum) provide the continuity, including the intangibles of what it means to be a member of the Crossmen. I wonder what the retention rate will be. We may see two eras of the Crossmen, with yesterday's announcement being the dividing point. I hope many of the traditions that make up the Crossmen will follow them to Texas. I hope we don't end up with a Corps that only has its name in common with the pre-2007 Crossmen. Respectfully,
  16. The bus driver told us they do the shuttle busses to the Alliant Energy Center for the Badger games, so they have a good system that's well tested. When I got onto the line after the finals I thought it would take about an hour to get to a bus from behind the apartment building, but within 10 minutes I was on a bus. Our driver was cool, making announcements on the PA to remind us to take our personal belongings -- purses, backpack, children, etc. He kept it light while we made our way to Alliant. A very good representative for the City of Madison.

  18. She's at the XMen trucks visiting my son. No word yet in the Xmen camp.
  19. She didn't write the scores down! :ramd: She's never been to a DCI show before so she didn't know.
  20. I just got off the phone with my sister who's in the stands. No announcements yet.
