  1. The thing that strikes me the most.... Last night in Kalamazoo, MI: 69.05 - Seattle Cascades 68.20 - Troopers Tonight in Port Huron, MI: 68.20 - Troopers 65.20 - Seattle Cascades
  2. Nah, I think the Blue Devils (2004) just pulled into town. :)
  3. I think they'll be at Brazoswood HS for the Houston show and then depart for San Antonio on Friday evening since Clute, Texas is located in the Houston area (about 45 miles south). But, I'll be at the Vanguard rehearsal for sure. Brazoswood HS and Clute are just 10 minutes down the road from me. I'm excited.
  4. Ronald Reagan is in the Northeast Independent School District, a whole other district in San Antonio.
  5. Agreed. I would LOVE to hear a corps perform the "Prime Minister's Love Theme" from the movie Love Actually, which Ronald Reagan used in their closer in 2005. Bone chilling piece of music.
  6. Lost in all of this is that Vanguard's colorguard has actually been one of their strong points over the past couple of years...even in 2005. They were 4th last year and 6th in 2005. Dave Miekle and crew are doing an incredible job out in Santa Clara. It's great to see how much they've improved the entire colorguard program since the early 2000's.
  7. In recent years, I would say the 2004 Santa Clara Vanguard. The girls in the colorguard were breathtaking.
  8. Jon Vanderkoff is also the drill designer for The Woodlands HS, TX (2006 Bands of America Grand National Semifinalist Champion and Finalist Band). He designed their '06 show entitled, "Hide and Seek".
  9. Jack Chambers is a well known designer, especially in the marching band activity. He's been the designer for Lassiter HS, GA since the 1990's and has written for many other fine bands including Winston Churchill HS, TX and Owasso HS, OK. Jack Chambers also designed Spirit's drill in 2001.
  10. YEA! has updated the website. It now reads The Cadets Drum Corps & Crossmen Drum Corps.
  11. Check out Ronald Reagan's 2005 show, You Never Know...., on YouTube or Google Video. Their second movement was a combination of Leonard Bernstein's "Profonation" and Paul Hindemith's "Symphonic Metamorphosis"...it'll kind of give you a feel of what the music will sound like. I LOVED how the piece grooved. It was fantastic!
  12. Wasn't William Chumley the guard caption head last year?
  13. Hey Matt, Hope all is well! I know this doesn't concern the 1990's or early 2000's but.....Tom Blair started producing the BOA Grand National DVD's in 2005. Check out last year's DVD if you haven't already.....the quality compares to DCI. Outstanding work.
  14. As requested.... http://www.bands.org/public/forums/fall.re.../boo.review.asp P.S.: Our names sound SO familiar. My last name has one more syllable than yours...pronounced Boo-wee. :)
  15. They didn't wear sunglasses to look cool. The bassoon feature and the second movement of the show was "Dead Elvis" by Michael Daugherty. Elvis Presley....Shades.....
  16. The bassoons weren't marching. They were standing on top of a platform during their feature. http://www.thebigredband.org/pictures/2003...B150968_JPG.jpg
  17. Don't worry. As a Texan, the UIL system still doesn't make sense to me. :) The UIL seriously needs to revamp the entire scoring system for the State Marching Band Championships. It's a joke.
  18. Ronald Reagan has taken numerous captions and has placed second in Finals at the BOA Grand National Championships twice in 2003 & 2005. 2002 Finals: 11th Place (first year attending Grand Nationals) 2003 Semifinals: 2nd Place (Outstanding General Effect) Finals: 2nd Place 2005 Semifinals: 1st Place (Outstanding Music Performance & Outstanding General Effect) Finals: 2nd Place (Outstanding Music Performance)
  19. Doesn't classify as classical or symphonic but.... The second movement of the Cavaliers 2006 show was "Renewing Vows" from Sweet Release by Wynton Marsalis.
  20. You're right....they don't have Jay Bocook and Neil Larivee. They have Don Hill, Jim Casella, Joni Viertel and Wayne Downey.
  21. The annual performance between the Bands of America Summer Symposium Marching Band and The Cavaliers at the BOA Summer Symposium/DCI Central Illinois competition in Normal, IL.
  22. Discussed in this thread. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/inde...87313&st=50
  23. I agree. I know Aaron & Carol will bring fresh ideas to the table. I can't wait to hear their music in the drum corps setting. By the way, Steve Vento is the music arranger for Southwind.
  24. Carolina Crown holding auditions in Texas is nothing new. They've done it for years.
