  1. Hey there, I'm back! Exciting news. Craig's returning as main visuals for BK AND that little girl, graduated, got 4 awards for color guard throughout state and was captain auditioned BK this year then BD next. I am travelling with them selling merchandise. The opertunity came up, seemed like a once in a lifetime experience so I pack & go in 3 weeks. Hope to see you in Allentown...

  2. Well then, call me a "Drama Queen" that's my opinion, been to years of finals and booing and exiting the way this was done was classless. I hope all those people wamt to sit in a big traffic jam cussing about the "Judge's Choice" of giving BD first place. As for me, I will stand by my convictions, that was just wrong!
  3. I agree 100%, a boo is a boo and for the fans to walk out the way they did, wow...WTG everyone in drum corps. Hurry home, Craig, we miss you!
  4. Wes, you are a class act. I have always had the utmost respect for you. I am proud to say you marched with my son and have continued your passion for DCI and teach kids music as well. Thank you for taking the time for a prayer, my heart is broken for this person and their corps. Tricia
  5. I didn't care for " Little Geoffrey" having most of the attention of the show. I believe the Cadet's should have taken over and show their talent without the focus being on one clown, or whatever you will call his part. I have to thank the Heavens they took the whine out, that was just creepy. That being said, I have seen two shows live this year and the one at IMAX last night. Just my opinion but I feel props in many of the corps are going WAY OVER THE TOP. I guess I am craving a little more old school when it was about drill and the music and not the pomp and circumstance. My 2 cents, but some corps still remain on the top despite my opinion. I don't like seeing corps with over the top talent resorting to side shows, they just don't need to. But they are on top, I am in the minority and not a judge, just watched corps over the years and see changes I don't particularly like. My daughter begins Drum Corps next year so one kid lead sop aged out '02 then became a visual instructor and now my daughter will begin Color Guard. I know where she was leaning but this year she is beginning to look at some other corps in a different light light. All in all everyone is a winner, great season! :
  6. Where do you get VOD, I got home late, is this not being broadcasted on FanNetwork?
  7. My son picked up his first trumpet in the 5th grade, I thought, “Well wonder how long this will last?” By the 7th grade he was sold so I got him a better trumpet and a wonderful tutor. He never let me or himself down. I regret with every fiber that I was not at all of his high school competitions but I did see a few. My daughter is the Capt. of Color Guard and a senior in high school; I have not missed a single show. She got accepted by BK but I said “NO.” I housed boys for years; I wasn’t ready to let her go yet but next year. Her brother is doing visual for BK this year but when he returns he will be teaching visual for her high school, a dream they both have shared. The first year with BK was great ’98; good times and I had begun to travel to different cities to watch. Through Sound Machine I even hooked up and drank a beer with a few people. Every year I went to finals after that I travelled more to other shows as airline prices dropped.. Since BK was having trouble and several of the boys wanted to age out with a bang they auditioned and got spots on BD. One of the most memorable experiences of my life was after the final in Madison, “the age out” kids were putting mementos on the field, I got on the field and was taking pictures of everyone with all kinds of cameras; Just shear happiness and lot’s of tears. By this time my name was just Craig’s Mom. As BD turned to leave the field and I yelled out “Good Bye, See you at the buses.” Tobias, the Drum Major, and several of the brass turned and yelled you’re walking out with us. They had seen me so many times in the practice stands; I did haircut runs and just had a great time with them so I guess they were serious. I looked at Craig and he just shrugged. I stepped it up and walked along side of them, as they entered the tunnel they all started singing California Girl, I was singing too. I thought my heart was going to pop out, I was crying, what an honor to me. I will remember that for the rest of my life. In my wildest dreams did I ever dream I would be so honored to walk off a field after finals with BD, or any other corps for that matter? The energy, work, tears of the corps saying their good-byes…WOW
  8. I agree with you 100%, I enjoyed driving around Madison and out in the country, just beautiful!
  9. Why thank you, G! Remember when we use to at it on RAND or RANT or whatever it was, you were BOY1230 and you sure could push my buttons, LOL? I am still trying to get my schedule worked out for Allentown. Craig is pushing pretty hard for that show. He thinks I would have more fun there than in Indy. I guess they have an awesome karaoke bar and the fans are over the top. Should be a fun time. Hoping to see you there, remember the first round is on you!
  10. Now that you know my history, let's get it out in the open. You joined the board May 12, 2010-Member 29,692. I joined June 28, 2002-Member 1042, so I would say if you post ridulous insults your numbers are probably higher than mine...I guess I believe in quality not quanity! What you said about me is trivial and quite frankly funny but it did add to your post numbers. Oh boy, congratulations your posts are growing all the time. You are just a wealth of knowledge aren't you, just look at all of your posts!
  11. My, my are we all knowing??? First and foremost there are not losers in Drum Corps, let me make that perfectly clear! I am a parent of one of the visual instrutors for BK and he has traveled the last three years with them. He also does visuals for several high schools throughout CO, so I think I have learned a few things along the way. I have been around drum corps many years my friend and I was not aware that the amount of posts made here were a part of the resume for having an opinion. BTW, I see you have only been a member of this board since May 2010, I've been on since 2002, at least when I write I have something to say, hmmm. All total with band and DCI I have put in 17-years so far and have a daughter starting DCI next summer. Should she go every year as my son did I will have been around it for 24-years. Due to her age I opted out of letting her go this year, although she auditioned and made the grade for BK. My son was 17 years-old when he started but having housed members for years (boys), I decided sending my daughter at 16-years-old is a different issue all together. Most of my posts were made on Sound Machine years ago but I am sure there are many on here who know me. Ask me how many shows I have been to? I have flown in to see almost every San Antonio show, I have seen almost every final in Madison and was in Washington, D.C. and Buffalo for finals. I have not missed Drums for 15-years as I am from CO. My son marched both BK and BD thus my avatar. My daughter made WGI this year in Dayton, where I went to see her, traveling to see Drum Corps is a passion. So yes, I am a parent but my statement was not made as an emotional boo hoo, it was made as an observation and my personal opinion. So there you have it, my resume, do I have a right to say what I see now?
  12. Interesting indeed... I don't understand how BAC scored higher than BK. Their show is not technical nor complicated, in fact, I found it rather mundane. They do not use the field, their color guard was boring, I just don't get it?
  13. I am so glad to see the Blue Knights come back! I love their show this year!
  14. I've heard there are a few funky judges that are playing favorites and BK is not one of them It does happen, seen it too many years now with too many corps and I think it stinks!
  15. Yuck... I can't believe it! BK will rock tomorrow night infront of their Home crowd!
  16. I should hear from my son pretty soon! Probably you "twitter'ers" will get scores earlier. I talked to him last night and he was sure beat but they are feeling great going into this. I got Fan Network yesterday, WOW, I can't wait to see BK tomorrow night. I must say some of the "regular top tier corps" have alot of work to do. I really don't care for BD's show this year. Have my seats for tomorrow night, section 310, looking forward to seeing the corps tomorrow night, should be interesting.
  17. He'll be there, I know he would like to see you. He told me about your job, congrats! I hope he goes to Texas to look for work, they've layed off so many teachers here he stands a very slim chance of teaching.
  18. Amen, Wes. Craig's on visual again this year and Stacia, my daughter & Craig's little sister, will go on tour next year. She tried out and made it this year but after putting a boy through Drum Corps I had a few reservations about putting my daughter out there just yet. LOL--you know, been there, done that!
  19. Blue Knights - are coming in and showing what they are made of. Lots of Vets and huge Color Guard, great colors. Blue Devils - Haven't seen them yet, can't wait until Drums to see them. Third - I have to hold off until I see more. A little bias as my son is a visual instructor for Blue Knights! Whooo Hoooo!
  20. Dancing in the streets. First time BK has ever beat SCV. The show has alot of vets, 42-guard, colors...Can't wait for Drums. Go BK this is your year.
  21. Whooo-Hoooo I knew their show was good this year. Forty-two in the Color Guard, amazing colors, lots of action... Alot of vets in the corps right now, Dancing in the street, can't wait for Drums...
  22. That would be horrible...Those kids won, cheer them on, don't berate them!
  23. Congrats BD....another great year for DCI Thanks for adding DCP crashed I was spitting Chinese Food and reaching for the Xanax
  24. Hey Michael- aka- boy1230, good to see you on here. Craig has been with BK all summer... Stacia, our daughter turns 16 plans do go to BK and then in the footsteps of her brother BD...Capt. of Color Guard in HS this year, can't miss finals results!
