  1. In that case, Austin Powers can do the job. Or maybe Faust.
  2. Agreed that 2006 is not competing against 2002, also agreed that there should not be 10's up there for semi's. Sorry, 10s are a finals number. They need to have the room tomorrow for any growth to be done. 9.9 I can see, but the perfect 10 doesnt happen till finals for me. Symanitcs.
  3. From my understanding, the last show is the only place where you bring home the bacon.
  4. Congrats, East Coasters. I've been waiting for that jump on spartans to happen since the first shows out here in New England. Special congrats to ECJ percussion. Much more intense than previous years, and its obviously showing.
  5. Exactly why a tie should just be... a tie! If they were at the same level to tie in the first place, then there should be no breaker. Both earned the same spot with the same score, just let it be. In sports there isnt always tie breakers. 10W - 4L - 1T
  6. AH! only .025 away from getting OC's score right! Pretty close with SCVC too man.
  7. Well, I've stayed fairly in the ball park so far. Generally a couple tenths higher than actual. Im interested to see D II. Possibly my 3-5 picks will be high by a few tenths.
  8. This member is THE "Moto Perpetuo". The perpetual motion. Not wandering, but marching the perimeter of the field. An injury, yes, however still getting good integration into the theme.
  9. ^ | | Please tell me those are FINALS scores! Becuase thats a high prelims.
  10. 1 Cavaliers - Thier show design has them on top, even with the strength below them. It will be very close to number 2 though. 2 Phantom - Takes drums over BD by 3 tenths. I think this show will clean up enough to squeak past BD by 1 tenth or so. Thats what they get for hanging out with the Cavaliers all summer. 3 Blue Devils - Sure it's well performed, but I dont feel that the design is strong enough to elicit the same emotional performance as Phantom, which is why they get taken by surprise on a VERY slim margin. 4 Bluecoats - Tie BD in drums. Take the cadets by a few tenths. 5 Cadets - Have Vanguard to worry about behind them, but still top them by a very slim margin. 6 Santa Clara Vanguard - Love em always. Surging, but not quite enough cleanliness to top Cadets. 7 Carolina Crown - Lost Vanguard awhile ago, Boston cant quite top them. 8 Boston - Seperates from BK and makes Crown sweat it out, but to no avail. 9 Blue Knights - Cant hold on to Boston and Madison sneaks up on them. 10 Madison Scouts - A push towards BK with a strong percussion scores, but not enough to take them. 11 Glassmen - Pretty much set here IMO. 12 Colts - Very emotional performance and takes out Spirit by surprise. 13 Spirit - Could not hold on to thier top 12 status. 14 Capital Regiment - Gives XMen a surprise jump 15 Crossmen - Bad week, almost taken by Blue Stars. 16 Blue Stars - Nearly catch XMen 17 Mandarins - Clap away, this one is set IMO. 18 Southwind 19 Seattle Cascades 20 The Magic 21 Pacific Crest 22 Esperanza 23 Pioneer
  11. Predictions anyone? My div. II top 5 looks like: Academy 94.95 Spartans 94.10 EastCoasters 93.20 OC 92.45 SCVC 90.25 My div III top 5 looks like: Revo 83.75 Impulse 82.55 Raiders 81.10 Yamato 81.00 Dutch Boy 78.95 And because I'm a drummer, I do perc scores too... Vanguard takes drums with a 19.00 and a 4 tenth spread to OC Impulse takes drums with a 17.5 and 2 tenth spread to Revo. Now, lets sit back, wait, and watch to see how wrong I am!
  12. I actually really liked this spartans redesign. If you look farther back into the corps history, they have often had full white uniforms, once with a red sash/plume, and once with a purple sash/plume. I think that this design incorporates all eras (fortunately without the purple :P ) Very good! Thanks!
  13. Nope, 19.2, Bluecoats hot on thier tail with a 19.1. Bloo's bottom bass was out for the night. Some nasty poisonous spider bite, from what I heard. Phantom got the high of the weekend with a 19.4, over half a point spread from the Cadets and Cavaliers on Friday night. The spread is on target too, no inflation there. Phantom Regiment percussion was completely superior in every way on Friday night.
  14. I dont think that they should, Division II is thinning already. They are perfectly fine where they are... I dont want Division II to become a total snooze-fest.
  15. I found its best to cut after a tick and explain WHY the tick occured (technique, approach the the head, upstroke, you name it.) instead of the way alot of people do it: "THAT WAS DIRTY DO IT AGAIN NOW". Especially on the high school level, kids have to understand what they are doing wrong to create the tick. Unless its mental breaks, then you just have to find a way to get thier head back in the game.
  16. The dynamat is key. It will eliminate any road noise, panel vibration, etc. to get you a much better sound on ANYTHING that you use. Personally I'd go with the Infinity stuff. Kappa Perfects. I used to work in car audio, and I found the Infinity stuff to be the best out there without being a completely outrageous price.
  17. Gotta love firefox. I know that I do.
  18. Now dont go putting words in my mouth. I mentioned NOTHING of Blue Devils, ranking, or Phantom Regiment. YOU did. I am making a comment on the judging criteria. PERIOD. If it's not done well, you dont get credits for 10 thousand flam chut drag diddle whatevers. It doesnt matter. Style choice should have no effect on a judge, there is a Music Effect judge for that. A Percussion judge has Technicality and Musicality criteria. If Tom Augnst's book is clean, they get a good score. If Scott Johnson's book is clean, its clean. On the field, you are judged for the execution of your own book, not one judge favoring a 'more challenging book' as you so adequately put it. Everyone's styles are different, and they are judged against themselves, and not any other group out there.
  19. Getting to sing America O'Canada at the top of our lungs with our made up lyrics that were pretty hilarious. Much better to be in the battery when youre at retreat. :)
  20. They lied to you. Judging criteria in brief is: If it's dirty, it's dirty. You only get the extra points playing harder stuff if its clean.
  21. I'm not a religious man... but I've been praying for it.
  22. I know the kid, he was on the end. Was the first snare soloist in the break.
