  1. First, Myron had to write a drill that in my opinion was restricted by the more traditional musical arrangements. You can't exactly fly around the field at high velocity while playing charts that have long melodic lines like RCM and do it as cleanly. Second, I don't think Lee Beddis left Madison. He is listed as Magic's arranger but I've heard nothing to indicate that he is gone from Madison.
  2. For me it's always a toss up between the 95 Madison show and 84 Garfield.
  3. I'm hoping Madison not only cracks into the top four, but continues to build a consistant enough program to stay there.
  4. SCV 2000, 2002 Cavaliers 2000,2003 Madison 2003,2005 Cadets 2000 Phantom 2003,2005 Blue Devils 2000
  5. I voted other. I feel like there were several years in a row (91-93) that had the most shows that were great. I would say that 92 had the most entertainment (not neccessarily the best in execution) from 1st through 12th.
  6. He said it on here a couple years ago...to the guy in the picture holding up the dagger (who has pretty noticable pit stains)
  7. Do any staff members stay at a corps for more than a year or two anymore?
  8. Maybe that's true. But I have noticed sometimes when a designer goes to a new corps, they get a second wind so to speak. Take Jamie Thompson for example. He wrote drill for Madison in 03-04 and his design in my opinion was functional and well staged, but not what I would call highly innovative. Then this past year he got hired by Phantom and did an incredible job. His design flowed well with the music and had moments of brilliant General Efffect. I think Myron may likewise get a brand new creative surge with Madison and do wonderful things. At least I'm hoping so.
  9. As Nikk Pilato once said: "Nice pit stains, SWABBY!"
  10. I noticed that Lee Beddis is listed on Percussion. Does this mean he'll be pulling double duty with Madison or did he leave Madison all together? That would not be encouraging. That's 2 key staff members leaving after only one year! Does anyone know what is up?
  11. For me, it would be Phantom Madison The Cavaliers SCV
  12. So, with Mr. Rosander's visual and creative style, what kind of music do you think will work best for Madison in 06? I'd like to see them do something fast and dark like Benjamin Britain's "War Requim".
  13. Although it didn't have a couple of my all-time favorite shows, I'm voting for 93. Top to bottom it was my favorite year, with 91,92 and 2004 close behind.
  14. Maybe he's not, but I think Jack Rosenberg (aka Werner Ernhart) could be, and I think he and George were at one time planning the take-over of the world. :P
  15. Well, Pete Webber will surely be missed. I felt he created a highly innovative and powerful visual package for Madison that was one of the main reasons for their great improvement in 05. At the same time, I'm happy that they hired someone like Myron Rosander to take over that area but I hope his style and creativity clicks with Madison in the right way.
  16. As someone may have mentioned before, this is what Hoppy has wanted all along and he will get his way eventually just as he has with just about every other proposal he has put forth. And besides..."Saxophones are cool!" <**>
  17. I like the look of traditional. Especially when SCV did it with the tilted snares!
  18. I don't agree with his comment. I feel like from both a design and technical standpoint, there are other Cadet shows that were better....2000, 1998,1997 come to mind. Also, there are other championship corps that I feel had better shows...02,95 Cavaliers, 99 SCV, 93 Star...
  19. I heard that the ballad in Santa Clara's 2002 show was from Aliens. Is that true? That is definately one of my favorite ballads in the last 10 years...well, that and Adagio of course.
  20. I just watched this movie again and I really like the music. I feel that with some beefed up arrangements in places, this would be a great Drum Corps vehichle.
  21. Going back to what someone said earlier, I agree that you see different things when watching it each time. I will add that for me, I feel different things depending on what mood I'm in or how perceptive I am at that moment. Kind of like watching a David Lynch film. Sometimes I like the oddness/creepiness in his films. Other times, it's the underlying metaphores that he uses. like the scene in Lost Highway with the main character meeting the weird pale guy at the party...the guy was supposed to be a metaphore for the protagonist's inner rage. It was very effective and Cadets show has a similar concepts throughout the show.
