  7. We did not use stands in 2006. You might be thinking of the 2005 champions, Minne-Brass. I do not know the whole story, but I believe that they had some players from their full corps stand in (no pun intended) at the last minute for some mini-corps members that had travel delays - quite an accomplishment to perform so well with subs. I do not consider it a badge of honor to not be good at reading…. I wish that I personally was better at it. It would be very useful if our group could efficiently read down a bunch of charts, even if just for rehearsals. I hope that this is a skill that we can consciously develop. My comment is a simple acknowledgement of the fact that most of the Star performers (with the exception of Blast and the later Brass Theater years) don’t have that much experience with ensembles that put a premium on reading. I hope that we can one day expand our little corner of the music world and grow into a more “professional” ensemble that reads well.
  8. Let the record show that Star is not, nor ever has been, good at reading...
  9. Thanks for the question - I did not think of it. It is not a requirement to be a current Star Alum. Sean

  12. I believe the conversion was performed by Mike Dennis as discussed in an article on Middle Horn Leader.
  13. Mike, Yeah the standstill under the arch was in 86 - probably a horse trade for a few hours in the stadium. I don't remember the Harrier, but that was before I was an aerospace weenie.
  14. That's awesome - that shirt (along with many others) was inadvertantly sent to goodwill many years ago. That show was on my 16th birthday.
  15. A page from the Paul Rowe book of Mellophone.
  16. and I thought they just found some old lumber under the bleachers in Erie and put some extra fabric on it. I had no idea... "anybody have a staple gun?" "of course, let me check my bag..."
