  1. You would be well served to stop promoting your opinions as fact. 2012 Crown best brass line of all time? You may get some valid arguments on that one. Why do Crown fans feel you are entitled to a championship?
  2. "I didn't like Crowns show this year" Oh, I forgot that is already banned on DCP
  3. Congratulations to the Blue Devils for a well deserved championship. You really brought it this year and you were on a different level than the rest this year. Additionally, congrats to Phantom Regiment; you really hung in there and gave the Cadets a real fight. Lastly, congrats to my favorite, the Cadets. You took a challenging concept and made it work; I don't beleive they got the respect they deserved from the judging community, but hey, no sour grapes here. They attempted a very demanding and challenging show and they came up short. In the end, the Cadets had another successful season and gave their members an experience they will always cherish. The Cadets do not base their experience on the opinions of a few judges that are expressing their opinions
  4. You are correct! Crown has a great brass line, period. When some corps repeat the same melody throughout it is called boring. When Crown does it it's called staying true to the original score and brilliant
  5. For some reason Phantom always gets a free pass on cheese in their shows...and they have had plenty over the years
  6. Yes, it's also safe to say if Cadets were performing up to their potential Phantom would not be knocking on their door
  7. The Cadets will address their visual issues. They have a very smart experienced staff that knows how to win. All of the hard work they are putting in will have an affect sooner or later. If they catch fire and start clicking, they can do some damage. The Cadets staff are their biggest critics and they will keep pushing until the end. I am not ready to lock this corps in 3rd place; time will tell
  8. I feel that the one factor that could help determine the Cadets final placement this year is percussion. This is the strongest percussion section they have had in recent history. These guys can play as well as anyone and they have the chops. They are clearly a top tier drumline this year with a really strong book!
  9. I agree about the Cadets. If they can work out the staging in their ballad and get rid of those god awful props (boxes), this is a great Cadets corps with loads of talent and desire. They have a monster of a show with a good amount of demand. On the visual side they have some really cool moments in their drill!
  10. Got to see Crown live twice this past weekend. Show didn't even come close to living up to all the hype on DCP. Really good brass line with some impressive impact moments. Other than that, I actually zoned out during a big chunk of their performance. Show just didn't connect for me like some of their previous offerings. And the body movement, enough already!! Body movement can be a cool effect if not overdone. Crown has been doing the same body movements for years and it's getting a bit old a worn out. I know my opinions will not be popular with some on DCP; oh well, these are just my honest opinions. This years offering from Crown just doesn't seem to have that "it" factor required to win a championship. Good luck to all the corps in DCI, and travel safely out there.
  11. We have a winner! My feelings exactly
  12. My "digs" as you put it are never aimed at the corps. I really like Crown (minus last year) and they are definitely one of my favorite drum corps; now some of their fans, not so.
  13. You Crown honks really need to stop taking your corps so seriously. You really couldn't tell that my post was an attempt at humor? You would never survive as a Cadets fan; you want to talk about taking abuse!
  14. Could not help but notice the name on the corps busses. Shouldn't the Cadets be using those busses? Probably not though, not their style
  15. Man you are brave; the Crown borg are going to pounce all over you. You better run and hide!
  16. I was at the performance Saturday night and I agree with your assessment completely! I watched the corps rehearse all day and was quite impressed with this group
  17. Your right, maybe the Cadets should play something new and interesting like Fanfare for the Common Man
  18. I'm not going to open myself up for certain abuse by predicting placement for the Cadets. But I will predict that the Cadets are going to bring it and be very competative. This is a really good Cadets corps & they have the vehicle & the work ethic necessary to succeed! This may end up being my favorite Cadets show since 2005.
  19. OK Jeff, please enlighten me as to how I trashed any individual in my post. On second thought, nevermind, I really don't enjoy reading fiction. I know the drill now, you will scurrry to dig up old posts of mine in an attempt to prove to all on DCP that you are right...have fun!
  20. Sounds like Crown has the championship wrapped up this year. All other corps should just save all the money, time, and effort and just concede the win to Crown. I like Crown and I'm sure they will have a very good corps, however, from reading this thread you would think Crown has a long history of winning championships!
  21. Just got back from spending 4 days in Johnston with the Cadets. I hesitated about sharing my observations because of the negativity I will receive from some, however, I know there are some out there that appreciate updates. Anyhow, the Cadets are in pretty good shape and they are actually sounding better than this time last year. I know there are some that are expecting to dislike this show...I really think you are going to be suprised. The first 5 minutes of the show is the strongest production I have seen from this corps in several years! The marching program is stepped up a notch from last year & the brass line is a wall of sound! The percussion section is having some performance issues at this point but they have a ton of potential. The guard seems to have a very talented group and they should be at a higher level than last year. Not sure how the Cadets will place this year, however, I was excited about what's going on in Cadet land. They have an extremely talented and focused group and I see more potential for this show than last years.
  22. Speaking of WC drums, Cadets are marching an all rookie snare line this year. Don't think that is a negative though, these guys can flat out play and have great hands. Most promising snare line the Cadets have had in several years!
  23. I do believe that the Cadets will be better than some expect. I was at their last camp & they have a pretty high level of talent in both staff & membership. The theme may end up being a liability, time will tell. One thing for sure though, they are quitely working very hard in Johnstown to build something special. And don't forget, as most corps were moving in this past weekend, the Cadets already had one week of intense rehearsal under their belts! My wife & I are headed to Johnstown next week to spend four days with the corps...can't wait!
  24. I was at Cadets camp last weekend and I would not count them out yet. They have a high level of talent and a proven great staff. I'm a firm believer that the music you play is not as important as programming and the total package. The staff has some pretty cool ideas for this show. Will the show work and be competative? Maybe, maybe not. But I don't automatically write off this show concept as a fail. And if there is one corps that could pull of this theme, the right corps has been tasked to pull it off! Time will tell, but I have faith in this group.
