Which corps has the best ballad this year?
dans replied to Hrothgar15's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Cadets by a mile, not even close. Its fresh, its very well done and it doesn't sound like just another pretty song. After 40 plus years of following this activity, all ballads are starting to sound like something I've heard before. Kudos to the Cadets design team! -
First off, no offense to Blue Stars, Crossmen & Seattle Cascades, but they don't have the talent level to attempt what Cadets are doing this season, so your statement has no merit. I knew there would be someone that just couldn't stand to read the positive words by the original poster in reference to the Cadets show. I couldn't agree with the originator of this post any more about the brilliance of the Cadets show this year. It's strictly my opinion, but I honestly feel some in the judging community have a bias against the Cadets this season.

Just for the record, if you didn't agree with him, would you you be as tolerant of his opinions? -
What is the difference between 2005 & 2006?
dans replied to 90'sMelloguy's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Thank you for the kind words. I apologize for my tone with you these past few days, I was out of line. Sometimes I get to involved in this Drum Corps thing. I respect the fact that you don't care for the Cadets show this year, it is your right. I will try to respectfully agree to disagree with you on the 2006 Cadets. -

Thank you for the civil response! I have no problem with an invidual not liking the Cadets show this year, to each their own. What I have a problem with is the insults that are sometimes directed at the Cadets organization and their members. I'm also not very fond of being called a "Borg" just because I like the Cadets show this year. Why can't people respectfully agree to disagree? -
There is a corps that has the cahoonas to be different and they are ridiculed on here daily. I'm not going to mention them and start another war.

I have followed the Cadets for 15 years now and Cadets bashing is nothing new. Way before amps and vocals the Cadets were held to different standards than most other corps. They have been criticized no matter what they do on the field. I have learned over the years to expect the criticism, and for the most part, it has become amusing. So call me a "Borg" if you wish, the Cadets are my team and I have much respect for them as an organization, as well as what they bring to the field. -
I see your mean-spirited nonsense on here every day and really don't consider your dribble worth a response
-
I don't think "you" represent yourself very well; let me guess, now you call me a "BORG"
-
Thank you for your civil response. I guess I'm in the minority, I honestly think the Cadets have a great product this season.

You know George, I'm with you. I'm really getting tired of the insults that have been hurled at every part of the Cadets organization. It certainly is the right of any individual to not like the Cadets show, but the flat out cheap shots taken at this corps on a daily basis are disgusting. The funny thing is the Cadets have one of the most talented corps performing one of the most entertaining shows on the field. There are some real mean-spirited folks on this forum these days and the line between this place and RAMD is becoming more narrow by the day.

It doesn't matter what happens in Stillwater. Blue Devils are getting by now on execution. At the end of the season, when everyone is clean and design determines placements, Cavies beat Devils easily. The corps Cavaliers will need to concern themselves with is the Cadets. I just finished watching a recent video of the Cadets, they have a really complex show and they are overflowing with talent. I know some will laugh and ridicule what I just said and thats ok by me! Make your jokes and have fun now because the Cadets are the best in the business at tweaking their show. We shall see what happens in a month. :) Kudos to the Cadets for trying new and different ideas; when you have followed this activity for forty plus years as I have, it's nice to see a corps that isn't a carbon copy of old re-hashed ideas.

Come on now George, we all know you can't hold Phantom to the same standards as the Cadets. -

Some of us still remember the way Phantom showed Cadets a lack of respect at finals last year. Phantom showed an arrogance and lack of class and I see their fans have similar traits. Enjoy your party now cause the Cadets aren't going to lay down and die, the fat lady aint singing yet! -
No, they need some dynamics and a drill!
-
In my opinion the Blue Devils did not deserve to win last evening. From a design standpoint the Cavaliers and Cadets are on a different level than Blue Devils. The Blue Devils really need to explore the dynamic ranges; they have two dynamic levels, loud and louder. At times they sound harsh and overbearing. I like loud, in your face Drum Corps to some extent, but that's all they do, it almost became annoying by the end of their show. Blue Devils have a very forgettable show this year and unless Cadets can dig deep, the Cavaliers should get another ring this summer.

Help! I signed up for season pass so I could see the show tonight and I can't get the live feed. All I'm able to get is a short 1 1/2 minute clip of esch corps that has performed, help please! :(

That was the most poorly disguised attempt at Cadets bashing I've ever seen. b**bs

Cadets 2006 Show – A Fresh Perspective
dans replied to marshamello's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Oh for gods sake, all you need to appreciate the Cadets show this year is eyes and ears. You know people have such double standards some time. How many people can explain why Phantom has guys in the guard dressed like executioners, or why a girl in the guard lays on the field for half of a song ? Talk about not understanding what you're watching, but of course Phantom gets a pass on this because they are not the Cadets. -

You're not alone George. I followed the Cadets all winter and saw how good this corps could be. Don't let people beat you down about the Cadets. First, you are entitled to your opinions (just as the anti-Cadets folks are), and second, you're correct on your assessment of the Cadets. If they can clean this show, they will be in a league of their own by the end of this season. What a stellar job their design team has done this year.
