  1. True, true. Although, I said the same thing about PR last year and still didn't like it by the end of the season.
  2. I just cannot watch Crown. They have killed my favorite color, green. Yuck. They sounded good, but I thought it was kinda boring. I didn't like last year either. (Although, I LOVE '07 and '06). The Cadets show will definitely grow on me throughout the season. But for some weird reason, I miss the narration...
  3. Someone over in The Cavaliers forum posted that the hornline is 80-strong, with16 tubas. Here's part of the post: "...The opening of the show is electrifying with the horn line (80 strong with 16 Contra Base) grouped diagonally from left corner to right corner..."
  4. There's a director's spotlight up on the Fan Network that gives a few glimpses into the drill. I don't believe there was any music in it. The drum major has a Twitter page and has been updating just about everyday. That's about all I've come across.
  5. On a side note, I was checking my Twitter and John McCain's status said, "Heading to the Tempe Beach Park for the Academy Drum and Bugle Corps Annual Memorial Day Celebration." Thought that was interesting. (and I doubt he actually does the updates on his Twitter, haha).
  6. Is anyone else having major issues with the live feed tonight? I can't get anything, and I've tried from two different locations (with three different browsers and two different computers).
  7. Eh. Not really digging the list. I'd vote... 2004 Cavaliers 2005 Cadets 2006 Blue Devils 2007 Carolina Crown 2008 Blue Stars 2008 Phantom Regiment
  8. I voted for... 2008 Phantom Regiment 2008 The Cavaliers 2008 Madison Scouts 2007 Carolina Crown 2006 The Cavaliers 2006 Phantom Regiment 2005 The Cadets 2005 The Cavaliers 2004 The Cavaliers 2003 Blue Devils 2003 The Cavaliers 2003 Phantom Regiment And why yes, the corps from Rosemont is my favorite. I'm not really familiar with shows from 2004-2005 (besides the two winners). I pretty much just picked the my favorites from each year. I wish that every corps from each year was available. I would have probably voted for '07 Madison, '08 Troopers. I'll vote again and change it up, because I just realized I missed some other favorites...
  9. Word from the Ft. Lauderdale Regional: Prelims IW Braddock 76.4 Premonition 73 The Knight 71.7 Fahrenheit 70.9 At least, around those numbers....
  10. Welcome to DCP! There's a few of us Floridians around here.
  11. I wasn't able to see the Scholastic A division, but I was able to watch everyone else. I was surprised by River City Independent. I guess I was expecting a bit more from them. I thought University HS would top Cypress Creek. University had so much emotion dripping from their performance. Great stuff. Love the Coldplay music. I was surprised to see USF on top of Fahrenheit Open. Both had great outings for the first show of the season. USF has come so far in the last two years. I thought the two would be closer in score. I loved Freedom HS last year and am disappointed with their show this year. I don't know. It's okay. Seminole HS was pretty good. The ice-cracking in the music got really annoying after a while (partially because it was SO loud). NEI had a beautiful show. I have to admit, I miss the dark, intense type of show from them. But they looked great last night. The show will probably grow on me. The Knights... eh. I didn't like last year's show that much, and this year's is supposedly like a sequel to it. I didn't like how the portion of MLK's "I have a dream" speech in The Knight's show is almost the exact same portion in Freedom HS's show. Come on, Michael James. Change it up a bit. I love Fahrenheit World's show, probably because it's intense. They are stronger than last season. I'll be heading to multiple FFCC shows and a couple WGI regionals over the next two months. I'm very excited to see more shows and to see these grow over the course of the season.
  12. At this rate, that's about right. They haven't finished at the luncheon yet.
  13. Off the top of my head... 2000 Cadets 2006 Cavaliers 2008 Cavaliers I'm sure there are more, but I haven't watched/listened to my drum corps DVDs/mp3s in a long while....
  14. I was there when the Georgia Dome "flooded" before Carolina Crown's performance in 2006. I was seated in the section next to the flooded one. I believe there was roughly a 45 minute delay. My first drum corps show ever, and one I will always remember.
  15. This is a legitimate issue concerning WGI. The article is available online for anyone to read. It's hardly gossip. I believe WGI should issue some kind of statement saying that due to the unlawful conduct by this man, he is resigning and therefore someone else is stepping into the position. Choctawhatchee High School already acknowledged his resignation and dealt with it accordingly. WGI should too. That's all.
  16. For those who haven't heard.... Band Director Arrested for Indecent Exposure
  17. This article gives a little more information (towards the end) about the band's behavior during a 2006 trip to Michigan. UW Band Suspended Just my personal opinion, but there's no excuse for what they did. Grow up and find a way to have fun without doing things that are so degrading. I don't know if anyone else heard about it, but there was a high school football team in New Mexico that was recently in trouble for their hazing rituals. Here's the article The leadership of various groups and teams need to teach these kids at a young age what is acceptable behavior and what isn't. I think most adults can differentiate between what is good, clean fun and what is illegal. At least, I would hope so.
  18. Unfortunately, some don't grasp the idea of maturity until late in life (if at all). Some know how to have fun without crossing the line, and others don't. Consequently, people tend to remember the few that cross the line rather than the many that don't.
  19. Yeah, I know what you mean. I've met Bruno before, and he's a really cool guy. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt. At least with the throwing the jolly ranchers, that's nothing new. It happened under Jeff Fiedler. That's not an excuse. Just pointing out that it's something that's gone on for a long time.
