  1. Hey everyone, I'm upgrading my Shure headphones (to the E5C) , so I'm selling these E3C headphones. You can check out all the details at: http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/Product..._pa_E3c_content Orignial MSARP is $200. So getting it half off is quite a bargin. Everything works like new! The headphones are great. You can definitely hear more of the highs and the lows with these headphones. They work great with portable audio, especially iPods. I'll foot for the shipping too. Later.
  2. Walter W. is a monster player. He sat in with our college jazz band at a graduation (he was good friends with our director) for a couple of songs and tore it up. Unreal, he has a huge fat sound and can wail like no other. Listen to "Live from London" for more of Walter. Also on his webpage he has a recording of nothing but overdubbed trumpets about 4/5 through his Walterwhiteleadtrumpetdemo mp3, that has similiar chord progressions like his "Taps" version. I believe it starts in a 5/4 meter. I always though it would be really cool for a soprano warmup.
  3. Agreed! When I marched, Matt was one of the best instructors we had. Now that I look back on that time, he was only 24 or 25 my first year. AMAZING! But he seemed much older (like a wise old man in a 25 year old body). I really wish I had got to spend more time with him actually, he seemed like really fun guy to hang out with. He was always laughing in his off time. But when he was in front of the horn line or working with the mellos he would take his work very seriously. With the MSARP, I got to see him in a different light, as a marcher, and performer. As all the other posts state, Matt was ALWAYS on top of his game. Always one of the first back to his set, with his horn up, shouting reminders to the rest of the hornline. He always made time for any questions that I had. At the Stadium Bar after finals, I asked him about his experiences getting his Masters in Madison, and he spent a good 5-10 minutes explaining the program and encouraging my graduate education. Thanks Matt! I am anxiously awaiting the show anouncement!
  4. Mark is the man...he and I marched 3 summers together (97-99). I'm glad to see the soprano's represent!! What I remember most about Mr. Dunton (or Dun-Ton as I remember Chris Harmon calling him) is his energetic charisma, and his 100% positive attitude day in, and day out on tour. I recently saw him at the party at the stadium bar at finals, and he was exactly the same way. No doubt Madison has gained another great leader and a perpetual MOTIVATOR! Congrats!
  5. How bout a return to some jazz? Just kidding..Haha... I'd like to see them do: You gotta Try...harder (Nestico) One more time, Chuck Corea Love Theme from "On the Waterfront" Hunting Wabbits or Time Check Under the Wire It was a very good year (the Take 6 version) Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
  6. Speaking of tuning/intonation... Does anyone else think that the mello's parts were scored to high in their register? I'm usually all about high mello parts but for some reason, it just didnt seem to blow me away like most every CBC mello line does. Did they march any flugel's that year?
  7. Yeah, I think it helped a little. Not too much. The way the military is structured is slightly similar to drum corps. Actually, I wish the military was more like drum corps.
  8. Hmmm... You know I never thought of Matt Gregg....but I could see that working out well. I kinda like that idea. BTW, IMO the 98 hornline was the most talented hornline during my three seasons there. We caught on to drill and music very quickly. In fact, I think I remember a number of staff saying that it might be the most talented hornline the corps had up to that point. What I think helped a lot is we had a vocabulary "Do-Dah-Dit" for just about every note in the show. 97- very, very, young hornline... but awesome show design 98- old bulls (most talented hornline)...decent show design 99- good mix of ages...great show design. Just my thoughts.
  9. M.Z. these are your feet talking "march in time, pick up the toes" See my figers (instructor makes his fingers stick out at all different agnles) That is what your horn angles look like.
  10. There was a guy from Magic in 94 who was really fun to watch. I forgot his name. Very big conducting pattern. But conducting performances and leading the corps on a day to day basis are two totally different things, as another poster mentioned. Ahhh, Kristi Spears....I havent seen a thread about her in a while.
  11. I heard the same about my boys at Madison. #### shame someone could spend upwards of approx. 1 million plus in one year. Up until I aged out (99-3rd year member) the going rate was: 1st year: $500 2nd year: $300 3rd year: $250 4th year: $200 5th year: $150 6th year: $100 I guess if you had marched with Madison for 6 yrs tour fees would have been a grand total of $1500. (minus of course getting to and from camps, free day spending money, and I think, if I remember correctly there was a one time uniform fee of $250). Of course we didnt eat like kings, but we were fed well. $1500 only gets you one season these days.
  12. You should email the band directors at the local colleges. MSU and CMU as well as Lansing Community College and WMU and Ferris should have at least a couple people qualified for the position.
  13. Yeah that seems a bit much. I could see $15 for some prime seats but $27??? Did they at least feed you beer and nachos while two scantily clad females waved a couple giant leafs (for a slight breeze) in front of you? :)
  14. I sorta like them...I agree with BBMM, its sort of like a new twist on an old uniform. I didnt really care for the 03-05 version of the uniform, but oh well, I understood the design of it, just never appealled to me.
  15. BD hornline warmup <BD clips removed at the request of the Corps, who claims copyright on the material -Danielle>
  16. I remember that happening. Nothing you do in rehearsal really prepares you for something like that. From what I remember it was on side 1 of the field and I could tell when we stepped off that the guy wasnt going to make it, and the company front would have to "auto correct" for his presence on the field. If you remember also in 99, the company front coming on to the field was jacked up too. The stadium was sooo loud we couldnt hear the commands given by the DM. I think a staff member who was trying to help us, was trying to mimic the commands of the DM, and subsequently I think some members took off to soon, and again, the company front had to "auto correct" while we came on to the field. Good times...hopefully we can get that right for the Alumni Corps. :) I imagine it will be loud when we take the field.
  17. For DBC's rumor: "I have heard that as recently as a few years ago a good portion of the Madison CG were people who got cut from the brassline". I dont know if thats true today. But I know in 94 a lot of the color guard were brass players that got cut, and they seemed to do just fine in 94. Also one of those color guard members that got cut from the brass line that 94 season turned out to be the "good pirate" in 97, and I believe he was the section leader that year (or co-section leader).
  18. My first impressions: I like it better than the last couple years. I'm not sure I'm digging the psudosash over the shoulder. I'd like it to be not attached to the uniform, and more like it was in the 90's uni's. Maybe just a bit thicker I'd say. The fleur-de-lis, looks alright, just wish the outline were a bit thicker and more dominant, it would seem if you were an audience member you'd really have to look hard to make out the design. As for the mirror, it seems low on the uniform, but I'm really not a fan of the mirrors in general. Wouldnt mind a thin white line up the sides of the legs, I think it would make them look taller, but then again, if everyone wasnt in step it would look very obvious. I think its a good throwback (with a modern twist) to the old 83 uni's. Eeek...the guard uni's look like 94 Magic...Not used to that look from a Madison guard. I'd say a definate improvement overall. Good times. Bros...just play your heart out, have a good time, and work like dogs. We will be seeing you in August with the other 230 alumni. :)
  19. Found these SCV links on Youtube: Pre show warm up: Chorale: Part of their opener?: Post show performance (Send in the Clowns): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk5jvtP8drQ
  20. Yeah I think in the late 90's there was a handful of guys from UW. Maybe 5 or 6 guys. There were guys from the Madison area, and the state of Wisconsin that were in the corps too, but didnt attend UW.
  21. If you can wait till after finals this year, I know the Madison alumni corps is getting rid of some of the horns we will use to blow the doors off the stadium.
  22. Is camp at Cosumnes River College today?
  23. Hola amigo, its been a while since you rapped with us.
  24. I havent found the finalist patch. I've seen the other stock Madison patch. But I'm looking for the finalist patch. Thanks for looking everyone! :)
