  1. How true your statements are. I would never have a problem with a member wanting to march elsewhwere. They would have to be in good standing, as in dues paid up to former corps, before they tried to go with someone else. I do have a problem with disgruntled ex-members and some of the wacky hi jinx they try to pull. That's the nicest way I could put it.
  2. I wonder if you could have a show where the corps didn't know if or how they were going to be judged.
  3. There are a bunch of hotels clumped together on Haynes Rd in Madison. Madison hotels
  4. What you experienced is what you experienced. You had a different experince that what others have had.For good or bad.I never said anything different. And if you want to discuss feel free to email me. There are two, some times multiple sides to each story, and they don't need to be aired out here.
  5. On his last point I agree 100% go for it, DCI can be a great experiance. We just had a young man go to Madison last year after 3 years with us. A lot of us kicked in to help pay his dues. As far as the rest of his post, well everybody sees things in different perspectives.
  6. I was 42 when I joined the Kilties. Had to wait a few years while my kids grew up.
  7. We played the intro for Norwegian Wood at the last camp. All I have to say is Wow.
  8. The same thing happened,at Prelims, to Our Mello God John "JC" Caspers,he brought his horn up to play his solo and out flew the slide. Not missing a beat,JC began singing his part while he bent down to retrieve his slide,Singing all the while he was putting the slide back. He got it on and finished his solo never missing a note.
  9. During one part of our What we now call Our"Injun Show",we had a company front forming up on the 50. To get to my spot I had to sprint a pretty good distance. As I was approaching, I caught a glimpse of a Contra player heading for my spot. The race was on.Well he beat me by a split second and I bounced off of his back. Seeing a hole, two spots down(where the said contra player was supposed to be ) I headed for it. Well the other contra player decided he needed close the hole at the exact same moment I tried to squeeze in.Boom I went bouncing back again.Seeing no more holes,I'm like now WTF.I finaly screemed in a guys ear "let me in",which startled him so much that he jumped his cue and took off for his next set which made just enough room for me to fit in. I saw him taking off so I grabbed the back of his battle jacket and kept him getting away.
  10. JC's(the other JC) reveiw should be out shortly. So I'll leave it for him to fill every one in,on the whole weekend. I had to work Saturday, and got to camp just as the full ensemble was wrapping up for the night. But I got to hear Nelie Bly.,Wow.Call me biased, but I believe this years hornline is even tighter than last years. Sunday I got to play the Water is Wide. This song is to pay tribute to Lothar. It's a beautiful arrangement.

  16. JC,My Brother and True friend I read your Tribute to Lothar and started bawling all over again. I packed my uniform 3 times today.Just couldn't seem to get it right. My journeys to Racine are usually filled with great joy! I make the journey to be with my extended family. And now I make the journey to lay one of the clan to rest. I am not as eloquent as most so all I can say is And here's a hand, my trusty friend, and gie's a hand o' thine; We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet, for Auld Lang Syne. WWBD
  17. Lothar,at times, was the kind of guy,who could get you so frustrated,at him, that you wanted to spit. But as my brother Kiltie Guapo said,no matter what he set you off at, no matter how much you wanted to strangle him.you always ended up with a smile on your face. Many times after a conversation with him,I found myself walking away, shaking my head in disbelief as to what had just occured. But thinking back,I always had a smile on my face. Lotharism #1 There was a conversation about the merits of British Brass Bands and a particular piece of music the corps was playing that year. The pro BBB guy kept going on the British this, the British that. Lothars responce "Yeah well ya know,It's also well known that 10 million Englishmen think Slim Whittman was a musical genius" End of debate, game set match to Lothar.
