  1. Jupiter brass, while not necessarily my preferred choice, is a positive step for the organization. Congrats to both groups, looking forward to a productive relationship! \^/
  2. Lots of corps do shako links. Stars, aussies and green feathers for SCV folks.
  3. I didn't get to hear them in person but the quality of sound from Ayala at WGI, at least on video, is quite impressive.
  4. Fun to play indeed! Also, sidebar: euphman89 (whom I know personally) wants nothing but the best for the Glassmen and indeed has shared some of the frustrations that some of the alumni, myself included, do feel. While I do not presume to think that he or I is speaking for the alumni generally, there is a segment that is indeed concerned about PR vis a vis show announcements and otherwise. At the end of the day, I, at least, would like to know what's going instead of what happened my rookie year, in which our show was announced after the first performance of the season. Believe me, I understand how and why Brian likes to play it close to the vest. I would, however, like to emphasize that those of us in the G-Fam would indeed like to have a least a hint of what's happening instead of surmising what we can from a board or from FB. EDIT: Grammar.
  5. Never. Too many brass staffs with different conceptions of sound.
  6. As a euphonium who stood two dots away from this guy all season, I second this.
  7. Well, it's a bit hard to tell, but I'm betting 'silly season' isn't over yet - we may still see some switches, or some switches that have already functionally happened being announced.
  8. Hmm...interesting. I'm seeing some of my favorites in that rep, should at least be intriguing to listen to the arrangement.
  9. One thing I'll add is the presence of cymbal lines in indoor has absolutely pushed the level of cymbal playing in the lines that are still extant in DCI. I would suggest this stems from the fact that so many of the players/techs who work in the indoor field are the ones who end up with the corps lines, especially groups like Crossmen, Spirit of Atlanta, and Oregon Crusaders, to name a few.
  10. SCV 89 - company front SCV 98 - opening hit (the one with the hornline pivot) SCV 04 - company front to the end
  11. BONUS POINTS: Backup stadium for when the NFL one isn't ready in time and DCI only finds out on the evening news - we go to Stanford. Also, Santa Clara.
  12. ...wha? wow. at least there is no member patch. jeez, this one hurts.
  13. A couple of people a year, for sure, at least on the hornline side of things.
  14. also the vocal at 2:09 in this EDIT: bonus, unrelated content: Cymbal player's hat falls off during the Viper at 11:33
  15. Nobles of the Mystic Shrine Washington Post gotta love being a horn player.
  16. ...or the new brass staff will be insistent that the staging be effective.
  17. The amount of daylight available is not a relevant prism through which to speculate on the Cadets' rehearsal habits.
  18. Drums need to be p*#$ clean. Show needs to be capable of winning. I don't see it happening this year.
  19. And Matrix Percussion (read:Glassmen Indoor) is using one of them this winter.
  20. Long story short, tax-exempt status. True, 501©(3) organizations do often make profits, as they should, since said profits get kicked back into the machine to fuel the next products, services, or in a drum corps' case, the next tour.
  21. In a word, no. In practice, email caption heads to your heart's content. But realistically, Open Class is your best shot.
  22. BIG NEWS: SCV to play music and march on football fields across America this summer! Get your tickets now!
