  1. Not just dinos. I had a hard enough time not screaming "NO NO NO" when our basketball pep band arrangement of "Don't Stop Believing" had "From the Fox television series Glee" written on top of the page.
  2. No. There is nothing original about any of their music. Taking the music that Glee has done and calling a field show "Glee" is like taking the music of Frank Sinatra and calling it "Buble". It's not giving credit to any of the original artists. It might be that I really don't like the TV show, but I would probably go get a hot dog if someone brought out a Glee show and I'm a person who only leaves my seat when intermissions happen (usually INT can be heard from the concourse and I'm a music first guy so it's all good).
  3. This idea needs to be sent Crown's way immediately. I'm not going to stop imagining arrangements of that until there is a real one. Thanks, Hrothgar...
  4. Cheers 1. Madison- The only time on finals night that the crowd came to its feet during an OPENER. 2. Phantom- I haven't stopped listening to this show since the end of the season. Wonderful music book. Jeers 1. Blue Devils- I know. Beating a dead horse and what not, but with a corps that rock solid in almost every caption, a more melodic and coherent brass book would have made everyone else forget about their competition. 2. The Cadets- This jeer only applies to the Murfreesboro/Atlanta weekend when they added the whole "Cadets dismissed!" corny section. I liked this show, but that section ruined it for me for two days. Hop and the staff get an honorable mention cheer for removing that.
  5. I'd pay to see it. Then I would run as soon as one figured out how to run into the stands and flog people with a flag pole. That settles it. Dan will just have to wear a Santa suit anytime he shows up on the sidelines.
  6. They were won by the playing, not what it was played on.
  7. I'm not really a drum guy as is obvious by my screen name, but I have a drum question. I noticed in a thread about Vanguard that their snareline in 2005 used a matched grip instead of traditional. Do you know of any other corps that have tried this? I'm curious as to why it hasn't been experimented with more.
  8. I think it's fine right where it is. It controls the explosion of G7 threads that would pop up like they did back at the start of the summer. The mods are having a hard enough time getting people to use their noggin and keep the discussion to just that thread, so I can't imagine how busy they would be trying to control a gaggle of out of control G7 threads.
  9. Leave the rimshot out, A&T can't play it clean and you know that.
  10. Anytime that comes on tv, I like to watch a few minutes and pick it apart. The other day I watched long enough to notice they switched grips during the "solo" at the first game. They started out matched, then were playing traditional in another close up.
  11. I'm sure that with the several camera angles they were using that night that there is some way to work around that shot and just go field level for those few seconds on the discs.
  12. With so many threads suddenly being hijacked with "back in my day" reasoning, then yeah. That would be a very reasonable explanation if the whole corps were doing these "tick blocks", but it seems OP is describing it as select member being in said "tick block" because he/she messed something up in the regular block, which seems to do nothing but waste time for the rest of the corps IMO.
  13. I honestly only heard the goo from 2 corps on finals night. People will get their volumes in check and tuba lines will be just fine.
  14. I went to IMS as soon as I got in town. I had a goofy grin on my face when we pulled in because I love racing. the whole thing is awesome and should definitely be a stop for anyone who goes to Indianapolis.
  15. As long as they have real iguanas wearing luchador masks I'm cool with it.
  16. I didn't really have much of a problem hearing the final chord from the tunnel. The flugelhorn solo was covered up, but understandably so since it is coupled with the whole "running into the light" moment the hornline is doing. Hopefully they can salvage that moment on the cd's because every flugel solo in that show was great.
  17. There is hot, then there is too hot. Indy was too hot. I was there Friday and Saturday and it would have been beyond miserable for the performers to go on those nights. If the heat index was truly 105+ on Thursday, then the decision to keep the roof closed was the right one.
  18. Next time just blame it all on that darn G7. That should do the trick.
  19. You tried to fight with logic. You will never win with that strategy.
  20. We are still debating this? Seriously, boys and girls. Not even the Indianapolis Colts, the primary tenants of the building, can have the roof open all the time. Like Appleknocker said, it was hot and muggy. I was walking the lot on semi's night and I was burning up in shorts and a t-shirt. Same for when I was walking around downtown Saturday afternoon. When the conditions are right, they will open the roof.
  21. I don't know any estimates on attendance, but that encore had some POWER. I moved down to the 340's for the encore and was absolutely blown away by the show. Also talked to some nice people who's son was marching BD. The kid is only 16. Talk about talent!
  22. I'm so glad you know what the audience likes. Funny because I was in the audience last night and enjoyed the entire show. Yes even the BD show that caused me to have a meltdown in the Murfreesboro thread. I found it appealing and only yawned because the whole deal ended close to midnight, but once again, thanks for speaking for all of us and what you/we do and do not like. This statement cannot be uttered enough on this site. I've been tempted to find a Jurassic Park logo to post in every thread that goes the way of "I didn't do it like this so it CAN'T be good because it's new!", but if I posted it in one, then I would have to post in others, and I don't have the time/lack of dignity to troll that much every day.
  23. So the members are actually scouts in a literal sense? I might be missing what you are saying. Is the corps still connected to the Boy Scouts?
  24. CCSU. I hate their guts. Those cheatin' so and so's deserve every point scored on them.
  25. Just got back from Lucas Oil. My mother agrees that this is our new annual corps trip. That was by far the coolest drum corps show I have been to. While I still don't like the music book, I understand the "You have to see it to appreciate it" I heard all summer about BD. I even moved down for the encore and WOW what power! Madison was just too much fun with the way they took the crowd. Anyone know why they were introduced as the "Madison Explorer Scouts"? As for Phantom? YES. Best night as a drum corps fan EVER. I can't wait to come back next year!
