  1. That is what he said. That is what some guy with a hot dog said.
  2. I would think they would all be a little more concerned after what happened with the Blue Devils. Even if it was a freak accident, it was a reminder of how dangerous the activity can be. In fact, I wonder the reason Crown isn't using the trampolines that much yet is that they are being extra cautious with the moves.
  3. Well, you know there Normie, it's a little known fact that the first drum and bugle corps was actually comprised of wooly mammoths who used their tusks as drum sticks and their trunks as bugles. Actually, I have heard that John Ratzenberger was a drummer in the Connecticut Royal Lancers.
  4. I think an adjustment is needed: 4th place: Bronze 3rd place: Silver 2nd place: Gold 1st place: Platinum
  5. With 4 corps in the hunt, it is easily mathematically possible for 1 corps to have the best chance to win and still be more likely to lose than to win. Just something to think about.
  6. It's funny to me how the same set of scores and circumstances are given by fans of each corps as reasons their corps will ultimately win. If corps A is better than corps B now in whatever subcaption, A fans say it means B won't catch them, and B fans say it means they have room to catch them.
  7. So...you understood it? Cause I have no idea what he was saying.
  8. Where did you see people discussing "the story of Boston's show?". I have only seen discussion of themes from and references to the book that take place in the show. That does not seem in conflict with the "loosely based" to me. Also, I'm thinking this was the second year in a row their staff did not sell or explain the show very well in the theater broadcast. Other corps too. It is like they weren't expecting to be asked. They miss a good opportunity there to introduce the shows in a way that will help the audience enjoy then.
  9. It looks more like a peanut butter cup but maybe I'm just hungry.
  10. Is there still no option to increase the number of posts displayed per page like we had before? It seems like that could reduce posts, or the substance thereof, as it breaks up the continuity of larger discussions. Or maybe it just makes it feel like there is less activity because you only see so much at a time.
  11. If he was a guy before the fall and a girl after, that sounds like a pretty major injury.
  12. Even if posting I'd down, I just think it is because there are more alternatives, and maybe also because there are not as many controversial issues this year. I don't think DCP has gotten less civil. If anything it seems a little more civil to me this year.
  13. Also, from the Urban Dictionary: "Splooie" was the name of Jim Jones’ (Troopers) pet goat which Don Warren accidentally burned with his cigar after a show in Casper, Wyoming in 1971. The goat reacted by relieving its bladder on Don’s shoes, and Jim Jones made a comment something like “That’s the end of the Cavaliers, Warren!” It appeared that either Jones or the goat hexed the Corps, and this led to several years of wandering in the drum corps wilderness in the 70’s and through the mid 80’s. The Cavaliers started hollering Splooie to try to break the hex, but it was unsuccessful until the Trooper’s home show in July 1986 when the Troopers finally felt some pangs of regret and treated Don W. to a hamburger for lunch. Unbeknownst to Don the burger was made of goat meat. (Not Splooie; she had passed on in ’73) That seemed to break the hex and the Cavaliers slowly climbed out of their double digit DCI placements. The tradition of yelling Splooie lives on as a tribute to the men who kept the corps going with sometimes entertaining (but not high scoring) shows in those intervening years.
  14. Lo's name seems to be a misnomer where BK is concerned.
  15. Sure, i guess there are similarities... - Blue Devils: Through a lens, darkly. - Cadets: Little Abe - Phantom: Into the Lake - Cavaliers: These are my fangs. There are many like them but these are mine.
  16. Write your own witty satirical thread. We'll be sure to let you know how you did.
  17. Well according to these guys... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83r2gQYOoJw Although I suspect that is the public version.
  18. According an undisclosed staff member they are going to hold it down to exactly 79.9 tonight so they can do it in Ogden.
  19. There's no call for that sort of... Oh, pianist. Never mind.
  20. I don't think the Bloo Saints will beat BD but i guess anything could happen.
  21. Why prop him up for propagating propaganda?
  22. And you probably don't want to say that in the bathroom either.
