  1. On the 89 PBS video there are a few clips of the I&E performances including the Scouts Brass ensemble. Does anybody know what they played for that performance? From the short clip it sounded pretty good.....maybe Bach?
  2. I like her playful Lindsey Lohan head tilt.
  3. Madisons drumline and the Scouts overall show. From the preview clips i'm expecting good things from Madison this year. Also: Regiments Firebird SCV Cascades drumline (Mike Stevens) To see the least: Drumlines using the WGI one step pivot back move for every big hit in the drum feature.
  4. Hrothgar, how about a summer blog. Hrothgar vs The Virus (narration)
  5. Bravo Bluecoats! Traditional, but with a modern twist. I love the collar and the cuffs, the tunic looks well tailored and uncluttered without being too short. very nice, a classic unifrom in the making. OH, and no shoulder wings :)
  6. The trouble i have is keyboards don't tend to possess the raw power that a drumline can produce and in a stadium environment comes across sometimes as slightly subdued.
  7. Thanks Chris. The best example of what i'm trying to describe is at the start of alot of shows there tends to be a big brass impact and then it used to be the case that the drumline would take over as the lead voice and carry the show along. Nowadays though it seems as though the pit would be the leading voice and the drumline is an accompaniment. Its almost like a roll reversal. I can see both yourself and adams point though.
  8. Recordings, but it's more to do with the arrangements rather than the volume of the amps.
  9. I wanted to find out other peoples opinions on this topic, so just a quick question to start...... Has the front ensemble become the dominate voice within the percussion section? For me over the last few years the Front ensemble have been given much more ensemble responsibility than the drumline and have at times made the drumline almost a side show which are just wheeled out when needed for big impact points and general effect. Side show might be a bit strong, but sometimes it sounds as though the drumline have been left in the parking lot and the pit has had to cover for them. It might be that the growth of WGI drumlines and the WGI style of arranging has become more prevalent in drum corps land, but the trouble is i don't know enough about the winter drumlines to compare the two. This may come across as somebody pining for the good old days, but i actually don't mind what the drumlines play nowadays . i just wish the drumlines had more presence and alot more " THUD " than they today. Is it to do with the overall ensemble balance? I don't know...... As you can see more rambling questions than anything else, so does anybody with more knowledge about this have something a little more coherent to add. Thanks.
  10. Blue Devils 1993, scroll down past the Duke videos. Tromba many thanks for the Link/hint. That was pure performance. Awesome Also 94 standstill performance ....OH YES!
  11. I logged in then i went to multimedia and then clicked on performance downloads.
  12. I would contact DCI and ask them what has happened to your account, that doesn't sound right at all. I've just checked my account and i can still play streaming APD'S, so i'm expecting to watch every show that they broadcast this year with my 3 month season pass.
  13. Does this mean that the people who bought the 3 month season pass early this year have a bargain?
  14. Blue Devils 1994 Spanish Fantasy. About 3 minutes into the show, pure money by the pit. Great writing by Jeff Lee.
  15. Hopefully Lee/Drumlaw80 will post on here, but Lee was Captionhead in 94 and 95. I'm not to sure about 93, Co Captionhead or arranger i think.
  16. I thought the writing for the pit was very cool for SCV in 94, lots of fast runs and some nice timpani parts really captured the essence of the shows theme.imo. The Timpanist guys visual performance alone is quite enjoyable to watch.
  17. This is the first time i've subscribed since i didn't realise that last year it was possible to watch the shows at any time So this year i've opted for the 39 bucks 3 month Season pass, which looks like an absolute steal. I've pretty much watched all of last years coverage and the video quality is definitely watchable for long periods of time. If you compare Season pass for value compared to say MLB.TV the Season pass Kicks MLB ### hard! So who is Subscribing?
  18. There is an early season recording on the Traditions 3 Vanguard cd. Sadly without Blue shades on the recording.
  19. I've only watched a small section of this show via the 88 PBS video. The final push at the end with the company front looked pretty intense for such a small corps, especially the DM with his " YES YES OH " and then bow to the crowd :) . I would love to see the rest of this show along with the Ventures and the Emerald Knights from that year. Hopefully oneday we might see a Legacy 13-21/25 dvd collection come out or at least some APDs. Southwind 2006 Patriots 1999 Guard and Drumline were the standouts. Blue stars 1999 One of the last sets of the show was very impressive Avant Garde 1985 Great music Pacific Crest 2004
  20. Many thanks Daniel. I've been over to the Blue Devils forum and asked David Gibbs if they can put previous Pavilion recordings onto the Mediabox. Fingers crossed :)
  21. Thanks Lance. Oh well, i thought there might be a full recording of the brassline somewhere out there :( . Hrothgar, you could always buy yourself a Strawberry slurpee and transfer it into a soup dish..... Hey presto Strawberry soup!
  22. On the pbs broadcast for the 93 finals there was a segment featuring the Blue Devils hornline with Wayne Downey introducing the different sections of the line. Does anybody know if DCI recorded the entire show of the brassline in the park or was it just the small section of the opener the Great Divide? Did the Blue Devils record a brassline ensemble of the entire show for any cd recordings in 93? Thanks.
  23. If you check out .rlrr.com and look in the video section you'll find Rogers 95 solo in there.
  24. Thanks for that Mjn. Would i be close to the mark if i descibed the line as a cross between Rogers 95 i&e solo and the Scouts 92 line? I hope so......Roll on the summer :)
