  1. I did not damage anything. I did pay a fifth of the tour fees. I did do fund raising. The corps director had told me that she could secure me further sponsorship and allowed me to tour. I did not violate any of the corps conduct rules. I will admit, coming from World class to Open, I was a arrogant, and disappointed at how lax things were. I was that annoying guy who would say 'hey lets add a mile to breathing block'. Yes I was that straight laced guy who didnt 'kick back' with the staff. As far as performance and conduct though, I did what I was supposed to do, as I was told to do it to the best of my abilities. I do not want to kill the corps. I do not see it as reasonable to demand $2K for 18 days. The experience was NOT worth $100+ a day. Very honestly, I would not recommend the corps to others, and am very sad it has such a lofty namesake and alumni following. I would rather not bring up the reasons why because i do not feel i could enumerate them without seeming to attack the organization. I'll take the collection info into account, thank for it! i thought DCI had a bit more say. I mean, if they could turn an acoustic performing art into a synth pop sport, what cant they do?! Apparently intervene corps /member issues. Sigh. Thats ok. Yes, I am in school, Yes I will talk to the legal service, and No I will not take your advice whitedawn as Legal advice. edited cuz- my Q's answered.
  2. I didnt want to have to resort to that. I assumed DCI had some protocol, like 'should they kick you out you dont owe them'. If bringing in legal action is what has to be done, thats what has to be done.
  3. remeber to breathe! and keep in mind that its how you interact with other people at the camp that will also set you up for a performing spot. so be yourself be chill and be on it, cuz you already have it.
  4. Imperial march rolling into the lot Final Countdown before/during unloading by Europe
  5. march an Open Class Corps. Keep your summer, find out what its about. theres a new corps starting in nashville that looking pretty cheap about 1K.
  6. The Blue knights have a nice looking site, but I've tried to register and access information.. and oh man... its a head ache. Madisons site is the most direct, here is the info here is who we are. All the other are very round about sending one on a clicking spree to get to what you want [ie tour FEES, staff, camp dates, audition materials, alumni links, etc.].
  7. YES! MY HEART WILL GO ON WITH SYNTH AND VOCALS!!!
  8. ...nothing quite like space chords and F tuning in the lot
  9. in sig Bonus Year 2010! Trying to scrape the money together to make it out to first round auditions!! Hopes yall are well
  10. Sounds exciting, I can only imagine what that synth player is gonna get to do. is Cap Reg looking to come back to world or will that matter come up after auditions? //edit// yeah coming out and telling us would be nice, the suspence is, I guess, a good thing, but end of the day people march where they'll marched based on a number of factors WC or OC being a real big one come decision and budgeting time. It might stop some people from coming out to cap reg, but on the other hand it may encourage others to come out. If its pending approval also I can undertsand that, but I'd like to know what the BOD and Rick Bayes want the corps, in accordance with the corps current financial and logistical capacity, to be. //edit//
  11. Long Ranger! A skillfully wielded Gock Block can also have a good effect. A Big Red Light that Blings along to the Met. Visuals help, esp when you cant hear. Or have them play everything down dynamic till they get to clicking.
  12. No slams at all on his part. Its the naature of the beast, you want a stronger corps, get stronger members. Pioneer has kept itself open to any and everyone who wants to work hard and experience this amazing experience called Drum Corps we all love. Unfortunately a corps that has members who have never marched, or never played, cannot compete on par with a corps made of of colegiate music majors. Going along with that, I believe that should Pioneer add more rehearsal time to their everydays, and perhaps take a cue from Colts to do a mini tour preseason to get everyone used to being on the road and learn how to tour[Cornfield Tour]; would benefit Pioneer greatly. Pio has the financial stability, pio has members, pio has a crowd focused show, all they need is experience in the corps. Hopefully they can get that from returning vets, but also through more time on the field, more performances, and more time together as a corps. best of luck pio 09!
  13. that one def, I always took it as a rookie, and being a rookie meaning the first year at any corps. thanks for the info guys, lots of good stuff! hope everyone is enjoying their halloween weekend
  14. well I've got three years under my belt, so its not a matter of ever having the experience of corps, its more an... aprehension of coming into to a different world, a different unit, corps, family, so late [at the very end] of my DCI career. This might boil down to a political question, esp when I've X number of year at a diff corps but then will have to submit to vets of the corps. How do you deal with that issue? I know at VK I butted heads with a few of the members, which was a HUGE deal in a 23 member hornline. I've been told anything from stand out by example to be quite and invisible. [i dont do the invisible thing well.]
  15. I'd always hoped to age out at my first corps. There is nothing like that sense of family that you get. I can honestly say, I've not felt the same camaraderie I felt at Southwind. Now looking towards my age out, and my first corps not being back , I wonder what are the pros and cons of being a rook out?
  16. a real heart breaker for me in 08 was NOT being able to perform July 4th in Pasadena. VK's Home show! We ended up working concessions. VK was also denied entry in the Stanford show, and other that the corps coulda have made a showing at. while corps we were beating at the time were given slots. Does anyone know how OC ranking and slotting work? they dont seem to have any basis like World.
  17. has Cap Reg declare intentions for World or Open?
  18. I'm curios to know: Do any DCE/DCUK have ties, bond of friendship, connections with any DCI/DCA corps? I know that currently Pioneer has strong ties with the South Africa Field Bands. and marches a few S. African Age outs every year. I've also heard that Cavaliers have in past years gone as far as loaning Beatrix a cook truck.I've marched with Mexicans, Canadians, and Japanese but not any one from Europe, sad to say. Are there any standing ties[past or present]? Unofficial ones? posted this in the international forum and got 2 replies stating Madison and Imperial Knights[DCUK] had strong ties, but nothing more. I know members cross over, but do any corps as units have connections with one another cross continent.
  19. so its Madison Cap Reg and Colts, with audition spots for synth. I'm hoping to see a few 80's pop shows and big hair. Maybe some electronic influences trance breakdowns... what kinda music is conducive to synth use? I can understand madison using it for a latin dance groove, but I cant feel it being true to the limited instrumentation that makes DBC unique [ie synth playing string/ww parts why not just march ww and strings if they're in such demand ]
