  1. Having known a few people from Germany and Europe in general, I'm pretty saddened by this. I hope that German corps still have places to go and a way to keep performing.
  2. 2009 Bluecoats definitely had variety. Each piece was completely (COMPLETELY) different from the one before it. IU? Yeah, I know a lot of people from IU. Also know a lot from UNT. And from a lot of other great schools across the country. It's not so uncommon to know people in corps who go to good music schools.
  3. Most improved section in all of DCI: Bluecoats 2010 Tuba section. If only you knew where that section started... wow. It makes listening to the finals run that much more enjoyable.
  4. My favorites are 93 Star, 89 Phantom, 04 Blue Devils, 06 Phantom... and others. My vote went to 93 Star, I love that show. So intense, from start to finish. The minimalism in some parts is incredible. It sucks me in, and then blows me away at the climaxes. Love it, love it, love it. I almost voted for 04 BD. Oh. My. God. Great corps. And of course I went with Bluecoats 2010 for the second question.
  5. I too, would love this, considering that I have never had the special features for a show I've done. (7th place in 2007, the last year they did this )
  6. As far as sound level goes, they took a step in the right direction. They just sounded more confident. I liked parts of the arrangements last summer, but as a whole, not so much. I liked 2008 more. And before that, 2004. Last year left me wanting in the brass section. I don't know why they got 2nd in brass. Obviously my opinions differ from the judges on finals night. ...which is fine.
  7. I know for a fact that there is at least one staff that thinks just that. Though I can't imagine more than maybe two or three corps thinking that their electronics sounded good... yikes. I think corps who perform better should get higher scores. I don't think instrumentation alone [as long as it's legal] should change scores. At all. Ever.
  8. Bluecoats Family Day 2010. Incredible warm up, but when we got on the field we set up and laid down in the grass, our show designer told the crowd about the show. It felt like 10 minutes just lying there in the heat before we started. The grass was longer than anything we practiced on throughout all of move ins. In that summer we went from the worst Bluecoats performance I've ever been apart of, to the best by far. Fun ride Honorable mentions: 2008: Fairfield, OH. Thick grass, bad foot timing disasters, and high tempers. BAD DAY. 2008: Orlando, FL. Changing literally half the show the day before and day of this performance, and NOT getting a run through due to stormy weather. Our first run of the new version of the show was at the Citrus Bowl that evening. Ballad and closer were a disaster. simply a disaster. Good times!
  9. A fact that makes the activity much more interesting to talk about.
  10. They certainly have their work cut out for them. I think the risk is worth the possible reward.
  11. The Cadets will be great, I can't wait to see and hear their version of 160 BPM. Cool piece.
  12. I'm not gonna hate on BD today. I really am excited to see what they come out with next year. Hopefully it will be a great show, because I love competing with great shows a lot more than less-than-great shows. (This is me expecting [hoping] to be competitive with the Blue Devils)
  13. Cadets company front for sure. They had what, around EIGHT of them in 2009 alone? I counted once, but I forgot.
  14. Probably, but it would have been more fun to have that as our first competition with everyone, so we would know. We were joking around at the end of June that we were "June Champions!" because we had the highest score posted in the month of June. (Completely aware that it didn't matter at all lol)
  15. ..sucks. The only time I ever woke up at 7 with the Bluecoats was at camp.
  16. Bluecoats hear the crowd Bloo for them. It seems recently that the tuba section also get featured every year in some way or another.
  17. Maybe. I think at that point in the season the Bluecoats could have come out in 1st. We were certainly ready to do so mentally before the storm hit. Though, none of us will ever know.
  18. I honestly think that the only thing I would have changed is putting Bloo closer to the Cavaliers. The deficit I would have put between them is around 5 tenths or less.
