  1. Tell you what, had Elvis been on tour with 2-7, he probably would have cacked after the first week! Rocketman - 2-7 fan for life ampssuck
  2. DANG! Horn players just don't get any love. What's up with that? It's not as if the snare line was a strength of the corps then (77). Oh, I get it. The "bad boy" image. Yeah, they were "bad" allright. 8th place in percussion bad! Well, I want you to know, we had some "bad boys" in the brass line as well. There was ....................................... Ok, so maybe we didn't have "bad boys". You know what they say about brass players and their lips don't you? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Rocketman - horn players have feelings too ampssuck
  3. Now wait a minute, when was that show and who all was there? Press box doesn't have the scores. Rocketman - When? ampssuck
  4. I believe my first viewing was 75 with the grey in Marion Ohio, WOW! So pretty much 75-77, then Batman and Chase. WOW! We wish they were BACK for good! Rocketman - singing the praises of SAC ampssuck
  5. "Z" My evil plan has been exposed. I was hoping HE would catch it. Well, there you go! Rocketman - keeper of the dictionary ampssuck
  6. Dang Sam! Use freaking spell chek! THE Rocketman - what the #$%^%! ampssuck
  7. Denise - she marched Royal Crusaders after Patriots! You wouldn't happen to have any Cadets pictures would you? Rocketmaniac ampssuck
  8. Did they happen to bring along two guys (bus drivers) name Larry and (not Moe) can't remember the other guys name off hand. My first/ex wife marched that year with Derry (76)! Rocketman - Bringing back the 70's ampssuck
  9. Greg: I know this might come as a shock but, John and I are the two driving the Cadet reunion this Fall. I usually talk to him at least once a week. He has sent me every Dr. Zoot CD, they are GREAT! John (Oscar) was, and still is, a great horn player. I just wish his drum corps career could have continued past Derry (no offense) and into national prominence. I do believe his talent was such that he would still be remembered today for the work he did in Junior corps. And yes, somehow, Chet is STILL living. I actually received 2 e-mails from him. Rocketman - oldie ampssuck
  10. That is true! We had some real shady characters in Cadets. I do believe they were part of a work release program! Fun Times! Rocketman - 70's byproduct and proud of it! ampssuck
  11. Keith: BINGO! Indeed it was the infamous Sharpsburg Cadets representing PA at this show. I have to assume the Coachmen didn't compete (that wasn't uncommon then). I am looking at a DCW Newsletter that has the scores in it. Rocketman - old timer ampssuck
  12. Keith: How would one find this Mr. Tom Wein from Lockport, NY? The scores I have are from "A": 1. 67.45 Flying Dutchmen 2. 57.85 St. Johns Girls 3. 55.30 Alpine Girls 4. 54.05 Imperial Regiment 5. 53.65 Caballeros (Ohio) 6. 48.90 Sharpsburg Cadets (kickin butt and takin names) 7. 48.60 Opti-Knights 8. 46.55 American Patrol 9. 28.85 Blue Sabres Of course, this was before we changed the ENTIRE drill to make the show "BETTER" for TWO shows (AIO and US Open). Guess the first 5 shows meant NOTHING. Didn't do us much good as we scored in the low to mid 30's. Yeah, we were "better"! Rocketman - drill me this ampssuck
  13. 1978 - Their best horn line. Great show all around! Rocketman - 78 RULES ampssuck
  14. Well, after bidding for every publication from 1975 on Ebay, I have finally found scores for that show. Now, I know most of you on this site weren't even born in 1975 but, for those that were marching back then, I would really like to get a recording of the show if your parents snuck in a tape recorder. Oh, that's right, it hadn't been outlawed yet. Thanks, Rocketman - 75 or bust ampssuck though
  15. Clinton Nee Hi's (I probably spelled that wrong - Knee Highs) Rocketman - Just the right size ampssuck
  16. Legend: Yes, I know what you're thinking. However, the "brass" performance that night was particularly off, for BD. Drops offs, sour notes, a very un BD like performance. That you won high brass that night is kind of a mystery to me. As I have indicated in another thread, our percussion line held us back from being closer to BD and was no doubt the difference. But dang, I was just amazed at the brass performance. Just pop in the DVD, CD, cassette, album or 8-track and listen for yourself. Rocketman - 88 BD appreciation club ampssuck!
  17. That's funny! In '78 we too had that same idea, we had the guard in pants the beginning of the season to "look bigger". I don't know why they went back to the skirts, probably those same "anal" judges that couldn't accept a departure from the norm! Rocketmaniac - where's my pants? ampssuck
  18. I'm curious, knowing how anal judges were "back then", did they ever complain that there were "too many uniforms that detract from the overall effect?" Rocketman - curious ampssuck
  19. Ahh! Yet another reason (aside from the lack of parking) to BOMB Madison! Rocketmaniac ampssuck
