Is 2010 turning out to be a good year?

Possibly my favorite year of this century! -
Scouts design in the future . . .
OICMR corps replied to bawker's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Waaaaait a minute here before this thing get hijacked. I am NOT saying that the Madison Scouts are the new Star. For one thing, a two time champion with over 30 finalist finishes is not the NEW anybody except themselves. I was saying this staff, most of whom ARE FROM Star (not 3rd cousins), would proceed in a fashion similar to how Star proceeded. I did not mean that there shows or styles would be Star-like, just that they know how to move up STEADILY. -
Colts Push Into Finals

It's the difference between possible and probable. I wouldn't give up since it is possible but it is not probable if your planning to put money on it. -

I don't expect another throw-back show from them next year but I don't anticipate them trying to be the innovators after an 11-12 place finish. If BK was doing BD's show this year they would be in 15th. The judges just don't like innovation unless your execution and talent is elite. This staff knows that. Expect something closer to Star 89 not Star 93. -
I think the answer is you are both right. The Cavaliers are favorites in Texas every year no matter what they put out there BUT this year's show has turned into a crowd favorite in any region.

My opinion is that it is the toughest competition for those spots, EVER. I don't think the staffs of the corps in that group that don't medal will want to hear MY opinion.

Will Top 22 Be The Same Order
OICMR corps replied to blueorginal's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Pretty long odds for two corps to tie two nights in a row. Otherwise, I say the same. (I had to vote for the top8 category since that most clearly fits my thoughts above.) -
George's tweets last night: late: "back to the drawing board - third in all captions. Little concerned about the effect comments and the lack of intensity through performance" 4 hours later: "sitting up planning some changes to pick up the croud a bit. it's odd how the last few days have been tougher, I think there are some fixes" The staff knows better than we do. All of the parts "look" good to me but there is something missing. They can find it.

Your favorite non-G7 shows this year
OICMR corps replied to skywhopper's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think they could put a lot more of Conquest in this show than the usual short riff. The royal pageantry of the song fits the show. -
I don't care whose idea this is, G7 or non-G7, it is a GREAT idea. Good job DCI.
-
You'll have to hurry, they are at Forney HS but only until 3:15.

Is the narration gone or was there just a glitch at Minneapolis? -
What's going on with Crossmen?

We aren't going to agree but if I wasn't clear, I believe it is the "right thing to do" to give the person with the most talent the job. -

I could not disagree more. The public has a right to complain about individuals who they deem to provide substandard service whether it is an NFL coach with a million dollar salary or the counter help at McDonald's. The management can evaluate our complaints as valid or bull and act accordingly. If there is someone with more talent than the arranger or guard tech or even the volunteer cook (if you are lucky enough to be choosy there), that person should have the opportunity to produce a better product for the audience and even “for the kids”. -

Folks calm down. It is probably a mistype in entering the data. The people who reported the scores FROM THE EVENT last night did not include the penalty. -
I think most people considered 2009 to have 4 (BD, SCV, BK & Troop) of the 12 from the West.

There has never been any confidentiality for non-profit boards that I have served on unless executive session was called for a personnel matter. -
Top 12...Is It Already Set?
OICMR corps replied to chadwick's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
this The 12 are set, #1 is done. Lets enjoy the 2-7 and 13-17 battles. -
???? Your definition of middle of the pack is WAY different than mine. They placed lower than 3rd in one show (San Antonio) all year.
-
Funny, I have been unable to narrow down their future placement also. I have BD and Cadets set for the top 4 and SCV and PR set somewhere in the 4-7 spots. How can I see CC beating BD and Cadets when I can also see them dropping below SCV or PR??? BUT, I do.
