  1. Travis is the man! He is doing amazing work with the Bushwackers this offseason also, recruiting great players and writing an outstanding book so far. A GREAT young talent!
  2. The drumline was mostly new members and about 60% of the brassline were vets and the guard was mostly vets also. The bass line and tenor line were all from Connecticut in 1976 with 1 snare returning from 75 and the rest of the snareline were tenors from 75 or new members traveling from Mass, Connecticut, New York. Still a really #### good drumline for almost a completely new line from the monster line of 75.
  3. I was a member of the 1976 and 77 corps. Joined in May of that year on #2 bass. The corps had a good mix of vets and talented new members. We were "hot and cold" throughout the season with the performances at the World Open and VFWs in NYC a week before DCI as our best performances of the summer. The staff was a mix of ageouts and a few seasoned staff, 2 that come to mind was Don Porter from The Blue Stars/Anaheim Kingsmen fame taking over the drumline in mid July and Charlie Groh from Anaheim Kingsmen working visuals. The percussion line was still solid IMO but too many internal problems with management in and out and a local staff that really didn't have much experience teaching was a recipe for disaster. The members gave it their all but it just wasn't clicking on the competition field. The prelims show was the cherry on the crappy season, we did fall apart right after the solo in the opener causing an awful echo effect and one side of horns finished the tune 4 counts or so before the drumline and other side of horns, a total disaster and the air was let out of our balloon for the remainder of the performance. Plus we went on a full day before the "block" in prelims and early in the morning, we were certainly doomed. We did beat a few finalists just the weekend before but ended up 20 something in prelims. I STILL wouldn't trade my time in that epic drumcorps though, made many great friends! Donnie Porter was a MADMAN ! No wonder Anaheim and Blue Stars had AWSOME drumlines back then!
  4. I believe Colin M was not on the C2 staff or design team, Dave Dumont arranges the percussion book for C2 ( and does a wonderful job) and Gino C is/was supposed to spend the last few weeks as caption head for C2, don't know if he IS spending any time there after the recent change in jobs?
  5. Long Island?? No thank you! This area and host group has extensive experience in hosting a World Championship event, the Little Leauge World Series, which is a WHOLE lot bigger then the DCA Championship.I'm told they are expanding some of the stadium before the championships move there in two years. Also the corps will NOT be forced to rent hotel rooms as part of the contract like in the past, a HUGE financial savings for corps and members. The area schools will be available for corps to house members if they want to forego a hotel for the weekend, THAT alone is a big reason moving the show here in the future. Plenty of affordable hotels and restaurants in close proximity and a group that will do ANYTHING to make sure the corps and fans have a positive experience for championships. And let's be honest, Not too many groups were courting the DCA with a proposal. This is a win for the circuit in so many ways!
  6. Seriously doubt Fleetwood ever received permission from the publishing companies to record the music and sell those recordings. Like I said before, this could be a whole new can of worms here. I'm sure moving forward the new owners of Fleetwood will do what they have to do to gain permission to sell these recordings from here on out. I'm just wondering if publishers will go after some sort of settlements from years before of not having permission to record and profit from those recordings.
  7. I wondered the same thing about the copyrights of the tens of thousands of music on these old recordings. Would they have to pay the publishing companies before they release these remastered albums? I'm just wondering if this is a head ache waiting to happen for the new owners. Time will tell.
  8. Thank you for the kind words about Bush, the members are working very hard!
  9. We were missing 2 mellophones last weekend due to personal issues unfortunately but they are back in this week. Thank you for a great review! Jay
  10. A huge bus bill that could put the organization in a precarious financial situation so late in the season. This is not recent news, this was decided weeks ago. No conspiracy happening here Chuck, sorry.
  11. Just a reminder for everyone. Woodbridge HS Woodbridge New Jersey Gates open at 12 noon and the first corps steps off at 2pm
  12. The Raiders are performing in Woodbridge on Sunday also. This will be their last Jersey performance before they head out on the DCI tour.
  13. Tickets are moving! We also have student pricing available with a student ID. It's going to be a great afternoon of drumcorps.
  14. Tickets are selling and the stadium has limited seating! Order early if you can! We did a walk through at the stadium last week, brand new facility and turf. The design of the seating area promises NOT A BAD SEAT IN THE HOUSE ! And most importantly the voice of DCA FRAN HARING will be announcing the Show!
  15. We ( Bush) were told at Sky's show the guard and pit can enter the field to set up together, the 17 minutes start when the corps proper enters the field when the chief judge signals ok, BUT ALL members except the pit must cross the finish line and when the last person crosses the timing stops. That's how it was explained to me. A little bit different from what I remember but much easier for guards to set up now with all the junk needed in today's productions.
  16. Tickets are starting to move! Like we have been saying, Limited seating so don't wait! The stadium is absolutely PERFECT for drum corps! Brand new facility in the heart of New Jersey. And don't forget, It's the last New Jersy performance for the Raiders before they leave on their DCI tour. DONT WAIT, ORDER ONLINE TODAY !
  17. This will be a great day of drum corps for sure! Help us celebrate our 35th anniversary!
  18. Joe Roche is on Bluecoats staff for the rest of the summer and he works on the Bushwacker visual staff also. Great person!
  19. Thank you for the positive review of Bush, we have a hard working corps this season with a lot of promise.
