  1. I asked John Meehan in 05 if he ever still talks to the guy and he told me that he does not associate himself with the Blue Devils or drum corps anymore. But who knows?
  2. Ok I should say that the solo didn't taint the show. The horrible music selection coupled along with the horrible drill tainted it for me. Happy jazz just sounds like high school band music. And that show is full of happy jazz.
  3. NO it hasn't tainted drum corps for me. I found the semifinals recording somewhere. And if you have ever heard that solo it is really hard. And he holds that note foreverrrrrr...
  4. i only cared about the head to head match-ups. When we lost to someone that night i got worried
  5. dude just read any DCI, WGI, BOA judging sheet and you will see both a spot for demand and a spot for excellence. And none of it says percussion demand or excellence.
  6. yes but it is the judges responsibility to judge both the how and the why.
  7. Dude I totally agree!!! I hate it that BD's line moves around doing all sorts of body stuff and they get no credit for it. Have you seen the other drum lines. They STAND STILL AND PLAY. and it drives me nuts. When I saw BD 07 I though OMG that was awesome. And now I see groups like CAvies and Cadets that just stand there and they get scored equally. I Think that sucks.
  8. Dude i disagree I think that it ads a level of professionalism to the CONDUCTOR (drum major). A conductor conducting without a baton is like asking a performer to play on bad equipment. Ok maybe that is a bad analogy but as a director myself I would hate to loose the artistry of my baton.
  9. No I agree its just in devils we were always taught to compete with ourselves and the past blue devil corps.
  10. No no I agree Nothing but respect to the great Scott Chandler
  11. well as of the stanford show the repertoire is beating their achievement and performance captions. This causes worry and makes me think that this book may cause them to suffer in the long run. But they may peak at the right time who knows. Their Brass scores iare also below their guard scores. (that is not so out of the question) And the drum score s the lowest. This is a bad trend that has been passed on from their last years 5th place finish I believe.
  12. Dude I couldn't agree more. The captions are not lining up like they usually do for them. And I am not sold on the show yet completely.
  13. yeah but you can't just say it's not a joke. you would have to show proof. That would be the only way to make me believe if I were on tour.
  14. 04 the staff told us Reagan died and we didn't believe it till the show that night when the flag was at half mass.
  15. hey who is this I was in Memphis Sound 03 too
  16. wow really i just meant it was w dumb comment if i was meaning it to be literal i would say so. And Lance you are right. The second week of scores means nothing. I completely agree with you. What I was referring too was the comment about the west coast conspiracy.
  17. I Think I speak for every founding and past member by saying good luck and we hate to see our uniform, memories, traditions, rituals, sayings, name, directors, area of location, go. We were founded out of the niceness of the people of the city of memphis, and while with Trey Moore not being the director that has gone, we still miss the feeling of the past and of those great families that housed us. We will miss all of the work we put into that corps to get it off the ground. Not many people know what its like to be a first year corps. All that we worked for will soon be forgotten once we are renamed and moved. I love this corps and will always love MEMPHIS SOUND!!! I just hope you tell the new corps all of the stories of the past and the struggles we went through on a daily basis. Good Luck.
  18. the 1994-2003 blue devils uniform has been replicated for band for years. I think that it was the most influential uniform for its generation.
  19. that was the dumbest comment I have ever heard.
  20. Well this might just be my stupid opinion, but this show bores me to tears. The drill is that of a senior corps and the music (although a classic) sounds like a dated arrangement. Sorry it just doesn't push the envelope in any direction. As a matter of fact I am a huge Devils fan and I don't really like their show but they are pushing some limits. The only all around show that does not bore me to death and is practical this year to me is Regiment. Go Phantom!!
