  1. I liked finals week in 98. Felt good to finally get past BK and PR after a season of battling. ;-)
  2. Right now how are the panels getting from show to show? Even if you have the exact same set of judges traveling along with the same cluster of corps, say from New England to Florida, those judges are probably being flown from show to show that may be a 6 or 7 hour drive apart even on consecutive days, right? So it's not like DCI is putting them in a van and driving them from show to show now. Although that just created some hilarious mental images in my head. Point is, judges are already criss crossing (or at least leap frogging) all over the place, aren't they?
  3. Given xbones7480's track record of predicting Boston passing Crossmen I'm fine with his prediction of BK being easily ahead of Crossmen.
  4. Correct. At a time when Crossmen were only .3 ahead of Boston. Maybe they've closed the gap on Blue Stars, maybe not. We'll get a good idea tonight and tomorrow.
  5. Maybe they updated it since you posted but it shows their 73.65 from Huntsville now.
  6. If I see one more portrait oriented periscope I will continue to be appreciative of what we get for free via periscope. But please turn your phone when you scope.
  7. I'm waiting until Belton and San Antonio to worry about that. They have five rehearsal days in the next 10 days (two in a row this week and three in a row next week) so I guess we'll see if they try to up the GE and demand in that time. The schedule sets up nicely to change chunks before San Antonio if they want to. In it's current incarnation they'll just have to stay cleaner than the rest of the corps around them, and while they're clean for now they aren't spotless yet. Time will tell.
  8. I'd say Belton the night after is huge. Troopers, Madison, Crossmen, Blue Stars, and Boston. Assuming Blue Knights finally finish their show in the next week they'll have moved up well out of the group Crossmen are in, so Broken Arrow is really just about seeing Blue Stars (which is still an important head to head), but Belton will give everyone a sense of position heading into San Antonio.
  9. So are the announced scores or recap correct?
  10. I concur. For the time and money I give (wish I could give more of both, but we all do what we can) I want to see a quality product, see them pushing themselves instead of resting on their laurels, and see that the kids are treated well. But even when staff and admin I've talked to (and have built relationships where I'm comfortable being honest with them if I was unhappy) ask me what I think I'm not putting pressure on them since what I see is that they're making progress and that the last two years they've taken steps to up their game. Last year I think they took strides in terms of sophistication of design/demand without sacrificing the execution from 2014 and it seems that they're on the same trajectory this year. The kids are treated well and the show is challenging/providing opportunities for growth. I'm happy with them and can't wait to see them again twice when they come back through SE PA.
  11. I think that's what we all want. That and no penalty in semifinals this year. I wouldn't mind finally moving up out of 12th though.
  12. I don't think he meant that it was odd that Troopers beat them. What's odd is that at the first show Crossmen's hornline has a higher achievement score than content score. That's odd for any corps in any caption this time of year.
  13. They were fourth on Wednesday behind SCV, Cadets, and Cavies. But I thought BD and PR had been beating them in drums too.
  14. As long as we're calling out Crossmen soloists of the past, Ryan Braun (not that one) in 97-98 definitely had the chops this thread is lauding.
  15. But it's fun this time because we're talking about inflation on the opposite coast from the standard inflation trope!
  16. 76.5-71.3~=5 So they would be in 14th or 15th. Which I agree seems likely for their final placement this year.
  17. In Chambersburg they were 4 behind Crossmen, 12.5 behind Cadets and 13.5 behind Crown. And Colts were back to their score from Jackson at tonight's show. Even if Chambersburg was a bit of a course correction, it would still mean Crossmen are 1 pt behind Crusaders* and that Cadets, BD, and Crown are effectively a dead heat. So yes, it seems that the scores might have gotten a bit high during the swing through the northeast, but I don't think Crossmen are going to all of a sudden find themselves much lower than their rolling average score placement. We'll find out in Salem on Thursday night when Crossmen see Spirit again and Madison for the first time. *Usual caveats of applying the transitive property across judging panels, etc applies.
  18. I actually liked it last night. If you think this is dragging, just step away for Glassmen and come back for Blue Stars.
  19. At the theater I was at last night in Des Moines there were some Colts fans who probably weren't rooting for the Troop. Hard to say though.
  20. Envelope pushing drill wouldn't bring up their music scores. But they are definitely the best Troopers since 1995 and they have a promising future. Not sure I'd call this old school though, seems like a very contemporary treatment of traditional Trooper vibes.
