  1. Dave Glyde was in the snare line there. He writes the brass book, and has for a while. I don't know how much of the drum book he writes. I wonder if he gives an outline, and Scott fills it in ....
  2. Blue Devils are NOT doing the Rite of Spring. They are doing Brenzel's Rewrite of Spring. Check it out .... you might like some of it!
  3. I'm speaking off the top of my head, but I seem to remember that Montreal was over 40k in 1982.
  4. Wow ... I didn't realize that Bridgemen beat BD back then .... Any info on that?
  5. Nope .... Beat them in brass all first tour IN CALIFORNIA! Then they shifted gears .... and Spirit ended up in 3rd behind Phantom and BD
  6. Can you explain how Crown has had a lock on the Jim Ott for a decade please?
  7. Well I guess I was just using the term heard amongst pro sports..... So rephrasing .... Is there money available that could help the corps in need? Can the corps that are doing well afford to help others?
  8. I was talking to a parent who has a kid marching this summer, as well as the last 3 summers. She was worried about affording one more year of corps for her daughter and said it was a shame that it costs so much. Considering that we have had 3 or 4 corps end their summers early, is it even possible that DCI could/should set up a system where the revenues were shared in such a way to help situations like this? Thoughts?
  9. Sadly, I've heard that bar is closed!! What's everybody going to do?!!
  10. Full panel tonight? Full panel from here on out?
  11. Blue Devils - When a Man Loves a Woman
  12. Thanks for posting this one! That's me on the left in the octet!! I can barely listen to this without a flood of emotions ..... Awesome people, awesome song, and Jim Ott's work in only 2 years time with us.
  13. They don't have to compete with each other, but financially they do. In some competitive MB organizations, the dues can be several hundred dollars. These groups probably travel more, pay for better design of their show, and pay more staff members ...... raising their dues to do so. Guards and percussion who participate in WGI have to pay those dues also. It's just gotten more expensive to be active.
  14. If you include North Star, should we also include 27th Lancers and Alliance?
  15. Also, Spirit alumni can give their Deltas to current MM to wear for the season. Mine are being worn by the son of a good friend of mine who marched Crossmen BITD with Mark Thurston
  16. To all the people asking whether it's good for the activity when BD does a show that doesn't really cater to the masses. I can tell you this .... I wouldn't want to attend drum corps shows if all the shows seemed the same. I appreciate the variety, and that's one of the things that keeps me coming back. The other thing that keeps me coming back is what I took away from when I marched .... The pursuit of excellence. I appreciate Crown, PR, SCV, Bluecoats, Jersey Surf, Colts, Spirit, Boston, Troopers, and BD. Many different approaches to their shows, but one thing remains ..... The pursuit of excellence.
  17. Funny! The first thing I thought of was DCP!!
  18. Nooo .... Someone said that Crown's crowd response seemed big because of the tepid response of the preceding corps. It's okay .... I heard the crowd responses for all the shows. I just didn't bother comparing them and placing an unnecessary dig on ANY of the corps. I really just wish people could be a little more positive about this, that's all.
  19. WOW!!! I don't even see how they do some of the things they're asked to do!!
