  1. the name is "Cadets 2" - similar to "Blue Devils B" but with a nod toward "version 2.0" of our software / internet era I don't find it that odd...
  2. I can't take all this negativity. Do you guys even LIKE drum corps? Geez.
  3. Isn't this the case with ALL the music put on the field the past few years (decades?) by the top corps? Everything is woven together, one music idea quickly followed by the next? You keep comparing them to Crown - Crown does the same all the time. And Promise of Living was a Cadets song prior to Crown. As was the dissolving company front if you want to get technical and picky Always seems like Cadets are held to a higher standard... Let's let the shows hit the field, let the staffs do their initial changes and then start "judging" the success or failure of a musical arrangement.
  4. So - that Sky Ryders show (I believe it was 1987) was my girl friend's (at the time) favorite. She LOVED it - as did the crowd in Allentown at East where we saw it the first time Regarding Cadets - it's early JUNE. At least let it get on the field and a couple weeks into the season until deciding it is an artistic failure... I didn't get the "guard with marching orchestra pit" angle - course only saw it on the net, preseason. So perhaps I'm not that keen of an observer Time will tell. I thought (based on the concept) I'd hate it. But darn that's a smoking drumline for so early and the corps appears strong across captions...
  5. So as others have said - hard to tell much from the wide-angle webcast preseason... but the captions all appear strong with the guard appearing to be further along this year than last -- the battery is killing it already, I guess if there was a "wow" that was it I love the music but I'm very fond of the source material in general - the narration for me isn't as "annoying" as I thought it may be at this stage but I also don't find it very necessary just yet The narrators do a good job for very early season Pit is strong - brass seems very solid Should be interesting watching it develop.
  6. as a huge Cadets fan this show sounds horrific... hopefully it will be much better in reality than it sounds unheard/unseen
  7. I'd say Crown 2013. Drums were a mess and visually probably the dirtiest in a decade to win Cadets 2011 was their dirtiest championship show out of their wins - especially drill BD is typically very clean Phantom was fairly dirty Spartacus year - probably put them right behind Crown
  8. I'm not that old. Just accept that fact that some feel differently than you. It's an opinion.
  9. I'm not a BD fan... and as I said, to each their own. The show was (for me) a greatest hits of the past 4 with some Star & Cadets sprinkled in - which makes sense when one looks at their staff of designers
  10. amazing how people can see the same thing so differently I found last years Crown production the least original winning program in years - every element felt redundant - to me, maybe I've just been following the activity way too long
  11. way more than a "Notch or two" easier and IMO it wasn't any cleaner visually - other than the guard - which was cleaner. Those unis in 2013 hid a ton of dirt, and the drum line was dirtier at finals than 2012 - both musically and visually. IMO.
  12. if the show doesn't take a leftist political tilt then I'll heat my hat. Err shako the music sounds great - supposedly the brass line is very strong (even compared to last year) and the battery is incredible again. Hopefully the program will be good enough to overcome the narration.
  13. well there might be more on here if we were allowed to talk about the show... which features snippets of Presidential inauguration speeches... but without discussing the subject matter / theme / and the director's very open political views of a show obviously designed around a political view point... it sort of impossible... So you got crickets. It's been quiet out of Cadets land the last couple weeks - so hopefully they are changing to program.
  14. In the past week I've had 2 posts deleted Zero explanation. What gives? George.
  15. You don't understand that darker uniforms hide dirt? Contrast between the field is much less than when they wore cream. As far as liking the cream vs. their current "magic of indiana" look I guess that's just personal taste. The corps appears (to me) much smaller, shorter and less impressive in the darker color scheme. They blend in with the field - which I guess was the goal.
  16. another way to look at this... I think Cadets would be FINE (but not quite as successful) playing Crowns horn book from LY but Crown would be a disaster trying to play Cadets drum book from LY JMO of course.
  17. It's someone's opinion. Not "hate" I also agree / thought Crown should have been 3rd, BD winning and Cadets 2nd The show lacked much originality. It was like the greatest hits of past Cadets/Star/Crown shows. They were dirty and the drum line was (IMO) overscored. Crown's drill was the simpliest of the top 3, and the dirtiest. Again all IMO. Obviously the judges and masses disagreed. The purple pants did a good job hiding dirt though - so I guess there was that.
  18. Agree. BD was a much better corps than Crown. Shocked Crown won. Personally thought they should have been in 3rd and not close to BD at all.
  19. interesting thread from the OP especially considering that BD had one of the hardest marching drills this summer
  20. 2007 was the only recent year I felt the wrong corps won The Cadets were amazing Semis & Finals nights. The crowd, not so much.
