  1. Well he wasn't, and if you take the time to read the series of facebook/blog posts this season it's clear he wasn't. But folks are going to believe what they want to believe.
  2. give me a BREAK. Let's not search for reasons to bash someone - he was talking about his "other corps" -- and if you don't want to believe it then go to his facebook page and read the complete context. Throughout the season (and final week) he mentioned this SEVERAL different ways and times. Sounds like you just want someone to hate on.
  3. so.. I would have worded it quite differently but... I did find myself not feeling the "championship worthy performance" whenever my attention shifted from the brass to the percussion. Visually Crown was GREAT and brass obviously OUTSTANDING - but I (personally) just couldn't get that excited listening to the "complete package" because I didn't think there was one. It's also interesting that folks have to go back 30 years or more to "justify" the low caption result in drums... as obviously the judges sheets and expectations have shifted wildly since then. So it illustrates how rare this unbalanced of a Champion we crown. Anyway - thee with the most points wins. That's how it works! Congrats Crown!
  4. HATE the uniform change. The only thing good about it was it hid dirt.
  5. i didn't have any issues at all - some of this must be between the end user and the event - or at the end user
  6. he is referring to OTHER years of his own corps - it's an ongoing theme in his postings that this years version of his corps got the "message" better / work ethic etc... I can see how you lift that one quote out of the ongoing postings it is confusing / but he wasn't referring to other corps - but rather "other years" of his own corps
  7. Congratulations Crown!!! Also Crown - congrats on the Brass award!! Blue Devils - my favorite BD show in years - LOVED it! Congrats on the Guard award!! Cadets - LOVED the music, fantastic!! Congrats on the Percussion award!! Also - thanks DCI for thinking outside the box, the drumline battles, the live finals webcast - great stuff! My favorite show the year - the TROOPERS. LOVED IT. Let's do it all again in 10 months :)
  8. 2012 I got because they seemed VERY tired at prelims and gave a MUCH better run on Semi night 2013 I do not get. But doesn't keep me from enjoying the show!
  9. Exactly. And I totally get the OP's frustration - but thank god so many showed up // seems like a great way to get a bunch involved. I predict next year they'll be 100 groups involved. Think DCA mini-corps on steroids
  10. I don't mind the 1990s "style" (at all) but the show is *IMO* getting over scored. Other than the drum line.
  11. I didn't get the Crown win last night either. Been a huge fan but they didn't have a good run. You mentioned the dropped sticks and the drops in the guard, but I also just felt the overall energy was flat (except the closer) and the drum line / eh / would have had them in 9th Felt BD 1 pointed them last night - and this is coming from someone who is in no way a BD homer / I was also pulling for Cadets.
  12. sounds like it was GREAT several thousand showing up - and I know they got quite a few groups involved seems like the crowd far exceeded expectations - next year I'd imagine they'd move it to a stadium setting since it's proving popular the minor league field right there in Indy would work if available glad they came up with this!!
  13. Was at the show Very surprised by Crown's win. / personally had BD by about a point The percussion gap seemed odd, Crown didn't seem to have a good outing at all yet improved? Not sure I agree Tonight should be interesting
  14. Now that I've seen the corps live a couple times just want to add my thoughts Brass - VERY good Guard - VERY good Visual Program - much improved, much cleaner than LY - but also, less demand I am not a fan of the uniforms - MUCH preferred the cream. They look like a combination of Magic and BD. Makes the players look 2 feet shorter, especially with the tall hat and the thick strip down the leg. Drill isn't very original - most of the visual things are retread from prior year's programs and/or others programs / so after seeing it live a second time I am kind of already bored with it Percussion is a big issue - I would have had them in 8th last night Personally I preferred last year's program and especially The Grass Is Always Greener Guard is extremely good - I'd put them just below BD only due to staging and originality/vocubularly of work. Stellar Last night's run - they marched a very clean drill, the guard was very good but in spots lacked a little energy. Brass was good but I preferred their performance Sunday night in Allentown -- a little more air through the horsn that night. Ballad playing was magical See BD taking Gold this year with Crown in 2nd Great job Crown
  15. Crown's guard is good. SCV's was dirty last night, but had some great moments Personally I felt BD's was the best - in terms of movement, work and staging... with Crown a close second. Cadets have also gotten a LOT better over the past 2 weeks which is great to see for a new staff
  16. go to the DCI information desk or the ticket booth - they often have tickets that are turned in that they could swap you out with if you speak to a DCI official they MAY be able to move your group to handicap seating in the lower bowl considering the situation if they have the space finally - if that doesn't work - your best option is to frankly go down the 100 level and speak with a couple strangers -- someone may actually WANT to switch to see the drill etc on finals night GOOD LUCK
  17. crown was great / very strong visually drums were still very rough guard was fantastic
  18. crowd loved SCV a few interval issues and a major oops in the tricolor flag toss behind the panels at the end mello solo was GREAT
