  1. I was surrounded by Crown fans last night, and the unanimous conclusion was that the ending needs re-writing. I like the return to Resurrection at the end, but it needs to develop better, and I'd love a marathon FFFFF chord like the one you suggested for Bluecoats. apparently has already been done. just waiting to put it on the field
  2. wow crown jumps from 17.6 and finishing 6th in atlanta, to 18.4 the very next night. was it just that much better of a performance. if the percussion can stay in the mid to high 18 range by finals and some of the new changes i hear are coming pan out, this corps could potentially crawl its way back into top 3
  3. you are correct. have heard from an extremely relaible source that new changes implemented tuesday i believe. and he is very excited about them, which makes me doubly excited to see them
  4. Rumor has it making a change starting tuesday to help with that. Without going into detail, can't really say anymore, just look for it ;)
  5. Did I read that right? ... CROWN 4th in Brass. even with a bad show i dont see that hornline being a 4th place hornline. would pay almost anything to hear that judges tape and see the sheet he filled out
  6. 94?????? at the rate BD is increasing (2 points in a week) they are bound to break last yrs high score right?
  7. Heard Yesterday from a very reliable source that Carolina Crown is down to 7 snares. Ashleys tendonitis in her elbow was just apparently causing her alot of pain and im assuming that she made her decision to step out for the remainder of the season was because that she felt it was definately affecting her playing and ultimately the rest of the group. im sure that was an extremely difficult decision for her to have to make. then a second member of the line told the group that he was stepping away for personnal reasons. they are currently trying to find ashley a spot in the pit to keep her active within the group, and the other guy may be just temporarily gone. they dont know for sure yet. My initial reaction was wow that really sucks, but after thinking about it more i think it will help the snareline and drumline overall in the future. if you have someone whos playing is being affected by injury and another whose playing is affected by just mentally not being there, removing those two links of the chain should make the rest of the line come together that much more i personally think could help make them cleaner and better for it in the long run. question for you is do you think this will effect the group moving forward
  8. 4 out of 9, but the four of them are not standing next to each other on this line. therefore have to get new feels for new players to know when to adjust to them as far a listening, speeding up slowing down ect. plus adjusting to playing with a large brass sound that can have some effect on the a fore mentioned.
  9. there is alot of truth in what you say. i had just driven all the way back home to lexington from dublin and it was pretty late when i wrote this last night. maybe preferences wasnt the best word to use in that scenario. the biggest thing i was trying to get at was just that even tho theyare all trained to look at the same things, one might be more keen on technique, where one might give credit for demand. a judge may be out in the field in front of the battery and miss a good front ensemble element. or vice versa. really was just trying to hint that there are alot of things that can cause a judges take from night to night to fluctuate
  10. I have a few opinions, and the are JUST OPINIONS!!!! 1- judging. judging varies very dramatically from judge to judge based on preferences and what the each look for. just less than a week ago at a previous contest, crown beat both the bluecoats and phantom in percussion, then tonight they finished third. just a difference in judges point of view. also just for pure speculation puropes (tonights judge was the same judge that had crown 4th at quarterfinals last yr, and as everyone knows the ended up only being like .2 back of BD for best overall percussion) 2-Inexperience. Crown has many new faces on its line this yr. they are still learning to play with each other and i personally (again just my opinion) believe their book to be more challenging and difficult than some lines, say the cavies for example. so the caives may be cleaner at this point in time, therefore scoring higher, but it will be interesting to see how crown comes together over the next month and change and i expect them to be scoring much better if not beating a few of the groups ahead of them come finals time
  11. I agree... Cavies- did a great job of entertaining my 12 year old sister, but that's just it. For me this show was just catchy and fun to watch. Wasn't blown away by any one thing (esp thought the company front towards the end lacked power and emphasis) this show to me just doesn't have that championship feel to it, or even the usuall cavies feel that I am used to getting. Bluecoats- Really enjoyed this show. Can definately see this show being in the top 4 come august 12 Crown- could definately see this show winning this year. Love the visual the corp does behind the battery in the break where they all layed down behind the drumline very cool. The sound (and quality of the sound) that this group puts out was definately in a league of its own tonight. Amazing brass with good drums and good guard. Def a recipe for success and wish all these groups the best
  12. 1 - Carolina Crown 2 - Phantom Regiment 3 - Blue Stars
  13. way to go CROWN, looks like another good performace from you guys. totally excited to see this show and my brother perform for the first time this summer tomorrow night in dublin. also a shout out to Boston. keep it up!
  14. Very excited for this show. Will be the first time all summer that I will get a chance to see my brother perform with Crown this season. It is a very good battle going on so far between them and the Coats, and would love to see them remain ahead of them. although i will concede a victory at this show to see them win come finals night. so needless to say am very excited for this contest tomorrow night
  15. very well predicted. i def agree that crowns changes have been for the better and is making their show even better
  16. 1 Cadets 2 Cavies 3 Scouts 4 Glassment 5 Colts 6 Teal Sound
  17. Wow Crown even won drums tonight over a strong Bloooooo line and Regiment. must have been a great night for them overall
  18. AWESOME!!!!! CMFC GO CROWN! Good for them esp because i heard that they spent alot of time making some changes and additions this weekend. The Phantom/Boston battle is looking very interesting. hope to see Boston get them by the time August 8 gets here.
  19. That Boston Phantom spread is very interesting. Already shaping up to be a great season. Congrats to Crown on another "W" esp after hearing that it wasn't their best performance of the season
  20. 1- Carolina Crown 2- Cadets 3- Cavaliers 4- Blue Stars 5- Scouts 6- Glassmen 7- Colts 8- Pioneer *Best of luck to all groups, looking forward to an amazing show tonight*
