  1. I would presume we'll be able to watch it online too --
  2. I don't think the bones were really functional xylo-like instruments -- I don't see how something like that could project as well as it sounded -- check the hi cam to see if the xylo in the pit or the keyboard is playing that line....
  3. Has Madison ever done a big band jazz show that features tunes from the American jazz songbook? I'm thinking like Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Rogers&Hart? Something similar to the Sinatra shows Dutchboy did back in late 80s - but also Madison's City of Angels shows - I know a big band/Sinatra show sounds incredibly old school, but if they could pull of the music, have a great guard and then add a unique visual twist, I think it might work -- I appreciate the Scout's commitment to remaining true to their style and roots -- that is not easy to do without doing rehash shows frequently - it's tricky to stay tied to your roots while still trying to grow musically/creatively -- The Bluecoats have done it though - they find ways to do rocking jazz but still branch out creatively -- And people - through all of this -- remember the words to the Scouts corps song: When you walk through a storm hold your head up high....
  4. soundtrack to our party tonight!!! SALSA GIANTS "PARA CELEBRAR"https://youtu.be/l9rr5TvDwew
  5. Great championship run!!! Stands still full -- Great run -- played as good or better than earlier --
  6. remember earlier in the season when the birthday cakes just had black garbage bags for coverings?
  7. Madison needs to take a page out of the Crossmen's book - I really appreciate how Crossmen are able to stay true to their tradition/roots but still grow and creatively evolve --
  8. I agree - definite shades of 88 Scouts/86 Devils - Go Blooooooooooo
  9. Glad there are the Blue Knights - definitely contributes a different approach/take to the activity --
  10. I agree - the first hit is severe - but I wish they didn't use the show announcement leading up to it -- it's distracting and not neccessary -
  11. if they don't do something with that tree it will be a really big disappointment - unfortunately, given that they have to disassemble the thing I don't think they can really do any type of lighting effect or silks shooting out effect -- I liked the shot from backfield last night on the theater broadcast where the tree was in the foreground and the corps and audience beyond the tree --
  12. not sure what is causing the mic not to pick up this outstanding playing -- is he too close to the mic? Are all of the levels just crazy high, so he's not getting picked up? Maybe it would come though better if he just didn't play into the mic? really interesting sound engineering question --
  13. were all of the blue fabric flags supposed to fly over the scaffolds? or only just the one?
  14. could someone explain why the screamer in the Pink Floyd section doesn't get picked up on his mic? He must just be blowing the levels and it can't come through --
  15. Is sound a bit off? In the theater it seem like there is too much front line/pit?
  16. 2 notes: am I remembering correctly, but at the beginning of the season, did the gear wheels in the horses for Helen kind of spin/rotate mechanically - as if it were geared? Now they just seem to kind of randomly move once in awhile -- did that change? Did something get broken? I liked the smooth gear movement -- at the build up to the end of Dance of Vengeance, it would be really cool if a trumpet reached a note in the final chord - possibly the 3rd or 5th - and held through (and slightly over) the last rhythmic bop patter - not THAT would sound RELENTLESS and generate emotion/GE -- Bluecoats are doing it with their screamers - with razor thin margins, this could make a difference for Crown --
  17. I've noticed that too - kind of a cool whispering sound - are they marching carbon fiber shells?
  18. Thankfully no more ties! Bluecoats are going to win because they have the most innovative design and because they perform their package the best of the top 5 - Para Celebrar!!! https://youtu.be/l9rr5TvDwew
  19. I'm interested in the windmills - has this been discussed already? How is the mechanism activated? Is there a gear that is hand cranked? I really like the look of the windmills, but it would be neat if they could all be activated to rotate in a somewhat unison manner -- Boston's props from 2015 were very interesting - I was hoping for more GE from this year's windmills --
  20. This is a great thread - thanks for providing clarity and insight -- a couple more questions from watching the hi cam from Allentown: So - what is the point of the go go dancer on top of the stagecoach during the ballad? also: I'm not a great stagecoach driving mind, but why is the stagecoach moving in reverse at the end of Roxanne? it looks kind of funny to see the driver whippen the horses to giddeyap backwards! also: I"m still a bit confused why Roxanne isn't the person busting out of the stagecoach at the ending to stop young feller from shooting the bad guy ---
