  3. So what you are saying is dont do bingo to raise money for your group. Is that how I read it? Bingo is not dead and can be a worthwhile enterprise in some areas of the country. Thank you for you for your HO but some of us still run bingo and are able to support our groups quite well. While it is not our main source of income it does supply many things that we would not otherwise be able to have.....plus it keeps our members fees very low.
  4. I agree whole heartedly. Great job. I enjoyed both group's programs. Congrats
  5. Congrats to the Gates Chili folks for hosting a wonderfully executed regional! Thank you bringing a regional back to the area!
  6. This Weekend is the Rumble in Rochester. A big thank you goes out to Dick Hoppe and the Gates Chili guards for hosting this regional. It is really wonderful to have a regional back in NY again! Spectrum would like to wish everyone good luck and safe travels this weekend.
  7. I was the director for a little Div III corps. You are also not allowed to record their performances. However, you get a video from DCI. One year we got our tape from DCI and went to play it on the bus on the way back to housing.....guess what no sound. They said there was nothing they could do about it. After that....someone from our corps was always video taping. Can you imagine putting in the tape of your best performance of the year, the last performance for age outs, the last performance of the year and having no sound or no picture or missing the big hit because they were focusing on the pit or someone adjusting a prop? Yes its illegal but that is also why many colorguard circuit have issued video passes to each guard so that they can video their own guard from a reserved area. Just my two cents.
  8. In 1967 or there abouts the Barons of Steuben went into a sea food place in the Boston area. We had all ordered when the management went to our director and told him that they wouldnt being serving a couple of the members because they were black. My Dad the director said.....okay everybody on the buses we are leaving....the manager said you cant just leave we have begun serving......my dad said you should have thought of that when you refused to serve those children.
  9. If I understand the rule quoted....then your champion Star United cannot be the champion. Is that right?
  10. Yes I did. There are none....that is why I asked the question.
  11. Lots of shows happened all over the country. Where are all the reviews? I for one, unable to attend shows love to hear the play by play by our local reviewers.
  12. I am looking for the scores from all the New York State shows tonite.
  13. The Mid York Show today in Homer NY will be the debut performance of Spectrum's 2010 production of "Don't Forget to..............." Good luck to my Spectrum "kids" and staff! Good luck to all guards today! Its the beginning of a great season for all. My best to all!

  16. This marks the 11th competitive season in the existence of the winterguard. Spectrum was a WGI finalist in the Independent A class in 2004 and 2005, and a WGI finalist in the Independent Open class in 2006. In 2009, Spectrum won the Trumbull Regional in the Independent A class and was promoted to Open class mid-season. Through continued perseverance and support, the guard received the bronze medal at the NJ power regional, and ultimately placed 12th in finals at the World Championships in Dayton. Living in a fast paced world where people are overworked and overwhelmed by life's unrelenting demands, we need to slow down and take the time to remember the seemingly unimportant details in life and reflect on their significance..ones that we often take for granted, yet keep us grounded, centered and alive... Spectrum presents their 2010 program "Don't Forget To..." The 2010 Musical Selections include: "Little Things" and "Angelica" by Lamb, and "Don't Forget to Breathe" by Bitter Sweet. Spectrum is sponsored by the Barons of Steuben. Executive Director is Benjy Van Kurin The Director is David Bowen. Design staff includes Tanya Thomas, Jessica Czachowski, and Chris & Beth Calhoun. Consultants include: Dave Metzger, Chris Caraccillo, Derek Stratton, and Amber Perkins. The 2010 Captains are: Chris McCarthy and Casey McCoy
