  1. Looking back, corps playing Les Mis have had guards that have done very well, even better than the corps themselves. Cadets won High Guard at Finals in 1989 while the corps placed 5th, and Sunrisers won guard in 1996 while the corps placed 6th.
  2. Looks to be a good year shaping up for DCA, welcome Windsor Regiment and Tampa Bay Thunder. Not one... but two new corps entering the fold. Welcome back to my former corps the Sunrisers, wish you all the best this season.
  3. Good luck to Sun and Sky with their evaluations. DCA has been missing something these past few years without both of these corps out there on the field.
  4. That is the truth... it is amazing how much DCI has changed in only 10 years. The 2000 Crossmen show is one of my favorites from them - accessible music, well arranged by Chuck Naffier, and the best version of Birdland that they have done, IMO.
  5. Sure, I'll play. Here are the numbers for the Sunrisers. Sun attended DCA Championships 39 times. Their average placement is...5.97. So we now have: Cabs - 2.97 Empire - 3.44 Bucs - 4.47 Bush - 4.62 Hurcs - 5.93 Sun - 5.97 MBI - 7.89
  6. Wow Fusion broke 80...looks like they are on their way to breaking Sun's Class A Finals record score, 83.988. IIRC, we didn't break 80 until prelims.
  7. Good...ESPN finals show was ok, better than nothing, maybe this leaves the door open for a return to PBS...if not the pay per view thing would work. People get the chance to watch two guys beat the snot out of each other, so why can't we get live drum corps?
  8. This was great, an unexpected surprise, at least for me. I just happened to go into the DCI Finals thread and saw it posted that there was the live thread going on. Took me back to the live PBS days, watching the scores right along with everyone in Indy. Thank you DCI!
  9. Cool video...Kingston looked very intense and focused, everyone in the corps looking straight ahead
  10. I was wondering if anyone out there has an extra 2007 DCA Finals program book that they would be willing to part with. The 2006 season was my first year at DCA, when they were available for sale here on DCP after the event, which I realize now was because of the rain/poor attendance. When 2007 came around, I was a bit low on cash when at finals, so I figured "I'll buy it later," not knowing '06 was the exception, not the rule. That was a special year for me personally because I was a member of the 2007 Class A Champion Sunrisers. I will gladly pay for shipping plus whatever the cover price was, if anybody could help me out, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
  11. Actually, the Colts played Rutter's Magnificat as their show in 1996. It is not as good a work as Gloria, but still made for a pretty effective drum corps show, IMO. That was their highest finish ever, I believe, coming in 9th place that year. Anyway, to get back to DCA, I am also looking forward to seeing the Hurcs spin on Gloria, as well as the rest of their selections, pretty interesting stuff. It is a different direction for them, hopefully it pays off.
  12. Do you have the scores for the rest of the Mini Corps?
  13. I was a late starter too, as I was 24 the first year I marched. I would work summers while I was in college, touring wouldn't have worked for me. I didn't know about the sponsorship thing or that some of the corps went on limited tours then. I wish I had marched juniors at least one year. Still, better late than never, I had a great time the three years I marched DCA. It was still a challenge, I would go home exhausted after some of those summer practices. It was just great to go out there and compete. I hope to go back sometime soon.
  14. Are you interested in marching in an All-age Corps? Do you want to march in a Drum Corps but can not make the commitment of marching all summer? Want to just have fun playing, performing, and having a good time? The Marauders Parade/Mini Corps is a new corps located in Rockland County, NY. It is sponsored by DCI's Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps. The corps plans to march in various parades around the tri-state area and compete at the DCA Mini Corps Championships in Rochester, NY. The time commitment is minimal as we practice only ONCE A MONTH! The practices take place at the Nyack Center, conveniently located off the NY State Thruway in Nyack, NY. Most of the current members have marched in DCI and/or DCA Corps, so you'll be around some great players, but no drum corps experience is necessary! All you need is a love for music and marching and we will do the rest. Even if you can't march in a competitive corps this summer, you can still have a great time playing great music, making new friends, and performing! Come and see us at our NEXT REHEARSAL, which will be held Saturday, May 1st, 1-5pm at the Nyack Center, 58 Depew Ave. Nyack, NY 10960.
