  1. I have to turn on my phone for this, what a crowd response for the stars! Proud to be an alum filled with alum and local support! Go Stars! FCO!
  2. Losing power, will post a full review later, 23% on the old iphone
  3. Jersey surf. Showed us a magnificent variety of color with many different colored plumes and almost on cue, a vibrant rainbow appeared in the sky, incredible and it's followed by colts with a "dark side of the rainbow" theme, what a brilliant display, God's promise to man, (yup I'm a Christian :) )
  4. Music city on tonight sporting a good sized hornlike, a markedly increased volume level, great visual choreography but a slight bit of phasing within the music ensemble, good to see them strong
  5. Legends on the field folks, a steady light rain here at Veterans memorial field in Lacrosse
  6. I recall the 2010 Minneapolis show, I was in the tunnel with the Stars and saw Phantom make their way onto the field and then come right back off through the tunnel after not playing a note and I'll admit I was thoroughly confused.
  7. On my way to see my cadets and blue stars! First (and unfortunately last) live show this year! May all corps do as well as they can today!
  8. Always controversial, people moving corps that is. I'm never in any place to tear down any corps because I was never the best marcher or player in either corps I marched in and because I just believe that it's not a great thing to do. What I could do was take what the staff said and apply it, that's what I could do; and come finals I got where I needed to be. I'll never forget my roots at the Stars which made me a better marcher and player and pushed me past well beyond what I thought I was capable of (the corps director was especially encouraging and he very much helped me fight to the end, I am forever thankful for what he did for me). I'll also never forget the family of guys and gals that embraced me at the Cadets as that one awkward kid from the Midwest in a field of folks from the south and the east. That being said, I think there's no problem with being loyal and there's no problem with making a switch. No one should hate you for either choice because that's just not good of a drum corps brother or sister to do, it's all just a game of competition really. At the end if the day we're all working hard to make music and do crazy things on a football field together (or in a high school gym if you are a WGI guy).
  9. Ahh Houdini, I reminisce about those days... FCO guys, can't wait to see you at LaCrosse. I'd be performing with the Alumni Corps if I could've made rehearsals but it's so hard with my job :/.
  10. The fight between the "East Side" top 3 is always going to be interesting this season as well as the matchup between Stars/Boston, and PR/Cavies
  11. Super stoked for lacrosse this weekend, if love to see some corps meet up and just observe a great show live in person for once this year.
  12. Would it be appropriate to say "Ground control to Lawrence audience, Ground control to Lawrence audience, we need an update!"?
  13. Does anyone have the performance times from this show?
  14. Whether it's execution or content, which 2014 show do you most enjoy so far?
  15. Fairfield is great, the crowd is always super responsive. Weather has always kind of been an issue unfortunately. Last year the corps managed to get the show in without a whole lot of sever weather (I was there :) . It looks like crown is sitting this one out.
  16. Again like said above, this is completely off topic but I witnessed (in the cinecast tonight) that they are clearly doing a heel-first forwards march once again. This will be easier on the bodies of the members for certain. As to whether or not this is meant to show knee bend or be entirely straight leg, I'm not sure. I think establishing a clear technique will help them visually.
  17. This season certainly brings in a different approach for the Crusaders. Animal Farm is so unlike what they've done in the past that it leaves me (and Dennis Delucia / Steve Rodinero) speechless. It is certainly a political show as their lead designer had stated (if not made obvious by the G7 drill formation craze). I'm not entirely certain what to say after seeing this show except clean clean clean. The demand is certainly there and if they can clean it up, it will certainly land them ahead of the nearby competition.
  18. Good to see coats back to heel first technique. That toe first stuff has got to kill some peoples' shins! I think visually is where most of the coats problem's lie. I absolutely love the music, and the hornline sounds incredibly mature (reminds me of 2010, but better!) Clearly establishing their visual technique with knee bend (or no knee bend?) will be a priority as well as cleaning up some of those forms. Nailing down the tarp and stand/bleacher placement is key as well. I WANT to see them go places this season. I wish for them to finish in the top three this year!
  19. The lead designer did say it was a political show in the cinecast tonight... he was not wrong
  20. Oh MY! I feel like I'm having a Doyle Gamill moment here. (if you know what that is, props to you!) Cadets were spectacular, what a way to end the show with the Simple Gifts tune from Appalachian Spring. The execution was simply unparalleled, visually, musically and from an effect standpoint the announcer puts the icing on the cake - what a great voice! Bluecoats showed up to play this season as well. From an execution standpoint they may have some room to grow but boy do I love the music and the effects in this show! I think the lack of a story ADDS to the show. Sometimes all you need is great brass, percussion and color guard lines to entertain you! Crown was super unique (as they have been the past couple years). The singing is something that I really dig. I was kind of hoping for some holst ;) but it really wouldn't fit into the show anyways. This '14 season is going to be superb. I'm looking forward to the rest of the summer! I hope to see a live show soon! Keep it up guys! FHNSAB! *Disclaimer - my opinions are my own and independent from any corps that I've marched and do not reflect the opinions of either corps.
