  1. I'm not sure what your getting at but your probably right. Being from Rochester i could read any number of things into your post.
  2. Donny, i remember seeing the birth of the Statesmen, i was only 13 but i remember being completely confused that so many members were well under 21. At the time there were still Jr. corps within spitting distance and i just couldn't comprehend a Sr. corps w/members under 21................Years later, i was fortunate enough (as you know) to have Vince Bruni take me under his wing and i found myself in inner city schools working w/kids that i otherwise would have never known, a few years ago i'm in line at a grocery store and the kid tells me that he's still drumming to this day because of me. I felt like such an a** that i didn't even recognize him.................It's cool to be reading about the "big idea", but there are tons upon tons of American youth that i'm thinking the "big idea" effort might be better spent on.........................................Don't get me wrong, i'm all for "One Music One World" concept but just the other day i'm sitting at a red light and i had my dog in the car w/me and a child on the sidewalk starts pointing at my dog and saying look at the doggie mommie, well, mommie calls him a "fu..... " as....." and an S.O.B..
  3. I remember a friend of mine in the late 90s telling me about being at a Cavies home show he went to and during retreat they named every kid in the corps and where they were from and he said only 1 kid was from Chicago, that kid got a standing O.
  4. If a corps had wireless in-ear monitoring, everyone on the field could have the met right in their ear. The sound guy could run the pa mix into every ones ears. You could even have different mixes for brass, perc. and guard
  5. Call it all you want but i'd be willing to bet that there will not be electronics in DCA any time soon,..........good idea, add another cost to already struggling corps, then what, DCA in a DOME?
  6. Dutchboy benefited from Northmen and Avant Guarde folding in 86 and then in 88 when Connexion folded.
  7. We never competed w/you guys until Semis and that was the year they drew for position putting something like 10 corps between us. Honestly, we thought we were IN, especially because we new you guys had never beat the Crossmen and we had never lost to them, when we were announced in 13th i remember walking into the corridor at Arrowhead and the first person i saw was none other than Marty himself, that was a pretty tough pill.............Marty and that same cymbal line also took 13th in 89. ps: as tough as it was to take 13th, i remember a Vanguard kid rode home w/us and feeling so bad for him. We took 13th by .2,< they took 2nd by .2
  8. I've never seen one, i was wondering if anyone has.
  9. The fact that he made it a point to watch them troop i would consider a show of respect. I guess i'm missing your point, you guys beat them and he still had a problem w/them?
  10. Also the Oshawa Rebels, Verona Eagles and the Patriots rollercoaster appreciation corps.
  11. That is not just a fact, it's just your opinion.
  12. I hear you on the weight issue but what i've found over the years is that quality usually comes w/weight.
  13. Exactly, Let's not forget that Al has had a close relationship w/Scott Johnson and B.D. going back to the 80s'(maybe even the 70s' for all i know), he had everything to do w/B.D. playing Dynasty. Funny how they went to Pearl right after Al left Dynasty. Correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't B.D. already play on King, I would not be surprised to see them on Ludwig again..........
  14. V.K.: 88 or 92, Bridgemen: In the Stone or drumsolo footage: 82 maybe, Empire Statemen: anything but '95, Hawthorne Caballaros: Late 70s'-early 80s'. When someone is new i would think they'd want to be entertained first, once they are in the door(so to speak) it will be easier to introduce them to the more serious side of drumcorps.
  15. A friend of mine who marched the season before me in a particular corps told me that he marched over-age and it makes me wonder if there were any over-agers when i marched. What pisses me off is that i have no doubt the director knew he was over an was willing to cheat and let him march. I don't really blame my friend, he just wanted to march....
  16. I remember seeing Dutch Boy and Madison back to back in 91, i forget where but it was definitely a regional though.
  17. Bill Decker Tim Stodd Ron Keck Phil Fogarty Don Paluhe D. Mercurio David Pasquarella Brian King Jeremy Whiting John Guillary Ken Brooks
