Why so much hate on BK? Yeah it sucks not to see the full show right out of the gate. SCV has done it for the past several years and not had people be all boobookitty about it.

I would think the same thing. It's going to be really interesting from a judging standpoint without a full recap being shown. It gives judges more individual freedom to call it like they see it night to night and not worry about a vastly different score than the night before.

I was going to bring the same thing up! GE is the easiest fix though.

Really excited to see how this unfolds! Waiting until I see it live to reserve more judgement.

Usually at the Fresno show either BD or SCV will go early in favor of letting the visiting corps from far away have a later spot. It's almost like a "thank you for making the trip!". Seems like this year was SCV's turn.

"Reeding" my mind here Lance...

I always have 10 reeds good to go...based on the weather/tempature/the mood of my clarinet/what house my saturn is in my astrological spread. Haha...jk That is another issue with having woodwinds performing on a drum corps level. If you are serious about playing a woodwind instrument you go through at LEAST 20/30 reeds a week. A REALLY good reed wouldn't make it through an entire day of rehearsal.

To follow up on what Lance said: http://clarinetperfection.com/WhyCrack.htm With a wooden instrument, even slight variances can cause the wood to warp or crack. The repairs on this are astronomical.

Regarding the pit and the spread - it looked like they had earpieces in when you were up close. The same technique is used by Cirque de Solei for their orchestras when spread apart, so they can hear each other in real time. Fairly seamless - I've used it in stage orchestras before. It's not so much a listening environment challenge as it is incorporating something from a different pageantry art.

I did not find this aesthetically pleasing at all. I have enjoyed what the Bluecoats have put on the field the past few years...but this was just over the line for me. INCREDIBLY well performed...but this isn't WGI. It's like the design staff sat in a room and thought "What could we do that is SO out of the box that even the Blue Devils would cringe" and came up with this. Overall though, I feel like it has a lot of potential to win, and I find that extremely disappointing.

They seemed to do fine in both captions tonight.
